My reliable source says Burg-Portsmouth 2026 week oneportsmouth_98 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 8:06 pmThat actually sounds right. I heard the Greenup contract is up also. I think that’s a good game and would like to keep
It if possible. Unioto should be competitive and provide good points to the winner each year.

If Zane Trace beats Paint Valley, ZT will likely be the #15 seed.
If Zane Trace loses to Paint Valley, ZT will be the #16 seed for sure.

13 -15 will be very close if Burg, Zane Trace, and Coal Grove all win. All 3 have big point games . I see a scenario where Burg can win over West and still drop 2 spots to 15. Burg limited on secondary points as they lost their 4 non conference games

I think Unioto/Portsmouth is Week 2 for next year. I’m not sure what would happen with West, but that is Unioto’s only opening for the upcoming season.Oldtimer55 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 3:33 pmMy reliable source says Burg-Portsmouth 2026 week oneportsmouth_98 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 8:06 pmThat actually sounds right. Re: Region 19 Outlook
burgs inability to beat anyone yr after yr is finally biting them in the a$$. athletic dept revenue is way down with the low attendance because of the caliber of play and now no home playoff game, ouch

Re: Region 19 Outlook
The top 5 are all favorites to win and if that happens I think it will be:
Ironton
Barnesville
Fairland
Columbus Academy
Harvest Prep
Barnesville gets a ton of points beating 7 Union Local
Harvest Prep plays a one win team and I think they drop to 5 with Columbus Academy jumping over them with a victory
Let’s see what happens

Re: Region 19 Outlook
Barnesville will be 10-0 against 6-4 Wheelersburg.
Switch schedules and it’s 10-0 Wheelersburg vs. 6-4 Barnesville. Barnesville hasn’t played anyone close to Wheelersburg. Wheelersburg has played 4 teams better than Barnesville. Would be a good game.

If Columbus Academy beats Ready they will jump into 3rd and drop Barnesville to 4th and Prep to 5thOldtimer55 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 10:47 pm The top 5 are all favorites to win and if that happens I think it will be:

LOL!!
Burg revenue is just fine. Football continues to fund all other sports, and the athletic dept still runs a surplus.
Btw, attendance isn’t down because of play. Attendance is down because Burg games can be watched from home for free!
Re: Region 19 Outlook
One, most Burg fans thought this game would be a blow out. No one from Burg was excited to see that.Oldtimer55 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 10:35 pmBurg crowd didn’t come close to filling up the visiting side at Waverly
Two, the game could be watched for free from home! So why make the trip for a game that could turn into a running clock?

Re: Region 19 Outlook
agree 100% especially with free tv
burg renewing ironton and getting them at home again in 2025 is a great move. getting a very bearable Trojan team week one is a great move too. that would be a great thursday night game to open the season
Re: Region 19 Outlook
after the way the season started there is no excitement about this team period. if the team was undefeated or at least would have been competitive in their blowout losses the Ed would be packedRBH23 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:11 amOne, most Burg fans thought this game would be a blow out. You didn’t think through that response before making it, did you?HamPorter wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 2:05 amWhy support our kids when we can watch from home?!RBH23 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:11 amOne, most Burg fans thought this game would be a blow out. Burg crowd didn’t come close to filling up the visiting side at Waverly
Two, the game could be watched for free from home! So why make the trip for a game that could turn into a running clock?
First, my kids didn’t go to Burg. Have never lived in Burg. So me supporting MY kids doesn’t involve the Burg in any way.
Second, I don’t live in Burg. Not going to make a 2+ hour drive to watch Burg versus Minford, especially when I can watch the game on tv.
Third, when Burg plays in Cincy, I do go to the games; have attended both McNich games. But to be honest, I do that mostly to catch up with old friends. Again, watching the game from home is better than squinting into the sun at McNich’s stadium or battling traffic to get out of there.
Btw, Burg attendance is quite impressive at McNich. McNich has more fans there but only because of the student section. As for the adults, Burg has as many if not more at the game.
Fourth, there are many ways to support the kids and school without going to the games. My family offers an academic scholarship that I contribute towards. I give money during the spring fundraisers. Donated money directly to the football team in honor of past coaches, etc. Have given to softball and baseball little league programs. Can’t even count the number of other fundraisers, from candy bars to shirts; buy them for my nieces and nephews.
Fifth, not everyone has the money to get into said games. Tickets, food, drinks, etc…. The bill adds up quickly. Having coached my kids when they played, I learned this quickly: not all families can afford going to every game, tournament, etc. May not seem like a lot of money to some, but $20-$30 per week can be a great deal for some families.
Sixth, games being shown online is the new reality and is impacting attendance at every level. And as prices continue to climb, this problem will not go away regardless of high school football or the NFL.

Say you were not at the McNich game without saying you were not at the McNich game…fbnut wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 8:54 amthey havent come close to there normal attendance numbers on the rode or at home since week 1 and its gotten worse with each running clock put on them and with every lossOldtimer55 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 10:35 pmBurg crowd didn’t come close to filling up the visiting side at Waverly
