Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
Chesapeake is one of them teams every 3 or 4 years can win 6 or 7 games.
They aren’t a prized destination but have a decent fan base and hard playing young men.
But lack in talent compared to the rest of the league.
Maybe the right coach can change that but it’s going take one the fan base has patience with.

Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
I'm not sure what happened, because the youth league is still strong, but my four years (a long time ago), we went 8-2, 8-3, 11-1, 8-2. We had some legit athletes that went on to play D1, D2, and D3 ball. Several 1st team all-state guys, and really good depth. I believe the next four years after I graduated Chesapeake went 7-4, 9-4, 8-3, 7-4.fielddaddy wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 5:57 pm Chesapeake is one of them teams every 3 or 4 years can win 6 or 7 games.

Chesapeake used to be a place where you came to compete and they were always in the playoff race and I believe only lost a single OVC game in 8 years.

Any word on this search? Don’t seem to be doing positive for players.

I’ve heard Robby Issacs from multiple people as a leading candidate for the job

That's not very constructive. Rob is a good man, and doesn't deserve his name being disparage by an anonymous poster.
Go team!

Agreed. Robbie is a good guy, good person, and was a heck of an athlete.
However, if Robbie is the hire, why did it take this long to make the hire? I have a hard time believing there were that many candidates, given there is no teaching position available. They guy is your middle school coach, why has the process taken this long. Disservice to the kids.
If true, this will be a huge hire for the new BOE. They've been lobbying for Rob for several years now.

I've been out of the loop since going to Lincoln County so I have no clue the politics of this. I just hated to see Robbie have his name drug through the mud for no reason.
Go team!
Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
Heard from a reliable source that there were plenty of applicants (19) it was pared down to 12 a while back...and now they're down to the final 4...of which robbie is one.

Was a former Ironton state championship winning QB an applicant?
Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
I heard they had a coach on campus yesterday from out of state and he had a kid with him who passed the eye test.

Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
It's January 29th and still no Head Coach? Getting ready to roll into February and no one at the helm will make for a difficult first season for any coach as the off-season weight training is taking a hit, as well as the new guy not having the opportunity to truly start working the kids in the district who don't play and encouraging them to come out... Peake BOE, you have to do better!!
Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
I am not sure who this is on (AD, BOE), but I agree, this is not good.OVCFan1 wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:56 pm It's January 29th and still no Head Coach? This process is taking far too long, and if they do hire in-house, than this should be a learning moment for all involved. This process should not last anywhere close to this long.

Re: Chesapeake Head Coaching Search
Still no hire? I've heard a few possible names from the final interviews but haven't heard anything official.
