This is what happens when you beat no one and lose to the same teams year after year after year. Kids lose interest and the community loses interest
1-16 Pendleton broke Wheelersburg Football RIP 55-0
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
As I said, Burg will be lucky to field a team. Doubt anyone will watch them play or carry their games on the internet.
Season tickets? Being given away.
Burg clothing? Not sold anymore.
Band and cheerleading? All stopped.
Pee-wee and junior high programs? Completely dismantled.
The fourth winningest program in all of Ohio is completely shutting down all football operations!

That said, let’s see how they perform this year. Kids can say one thing but then still perform. This happened back in my day as well. Many coaches we didn’t like, hated playing for etc. yet still had success on the field, court, etc.
Plus, the rumors on this site get crazy. Example: some on this site had Rucker not even playing, yet find out the truth that he’s not only playing but excited about the upcoming season. Another example: according to this site, the Lattimore brothers were transferring to Ironton every single year. Why? Unhappy with the coaches.
And if I had a nickel for every kid that said “no way am I playing next year” or “this is the end of Wheelersburg’s dominance in football”, I’d be Elon Musk rich!

Maybe the much older burg staff is starting to lose the room. Happens. No energy in the program. Burg has not exactly been dominating anything or really beating anyone.

How can I comment on Pendleton’a coaching? Because he’s laid some serious eggs.
- The 38-0 loss to Kirtland in the state title game was bad. He had the better roster yet couldn’t prevent a running clock. Was completely outcoached.
- The playoff loss to Burg. Again, he had the superior roster and it wasn’t close. Once up 14-3, he could have simply had his O take a knee and punt every possession, and still would have won that game. That was the worst coaching job I have ever witnessed at the high school level.
- The loss to SR in 2022. Again, he had the better roster but couldn’t even keep the game close.
- 2023 against Burg. Even though IHS won, Pendleton did everything possible to lose that game. It was comical how bad he messed up that last IHS possession.
So put him as coach on a team with less talent than Ironton? That would be a disaster!
Now a days its aĺl the transfers fault. Burg fans need a crutch or an excuse to divert to. Too many excuses and the truth is Woodard is getting beat in his tough regular season games. And woodard cant win region 19.

Pendleton’s high school recruits are an all-star team all by themselves. That makes a massive difference. Lots of starts, TDs, yards, and tackles on that list!

They just don't get it. You take Keyes, Felder and Perkins off that team two years ago, where does the offense come from? Those three were probably close to 80% of their offense. Hell, maybe even higher than that.

Don’t you claim to live in The Natti. I would bet my last dollar you don’t even know Pendleton. Jealousy tends to come in many forms. Funny you sit and talk about a guy who has owned the program you root for. I’ve also heard from people who’s went through his program that it was the toughest thing they’ve ever done. They compare it to military boot camp . I also bet if you talk to Carrico personally. He would tell you he owes a lot of his success to Coach Pendleton.
- The 38-0 loss to Kirtland in the state title game was bad. He had the better roster yet couldn’t prevent a running clock. Was completely outcoached.

When was Johnstown ever up by 30? The final ended up 32-14. When was the running clock?
Why was ironton the underdog against South Range two years ago? They had way more talent than SR did. SR kept running the same play over and over and Ironton couldn't stop it. It was hard to watch. Ironton staff made no adjustment to that play.
Also, Pendleton is 4-2 against Burg.
There's no hate of the Ironton program. It's just that you clowns can't admit to the fact without all the recruits you are a mediocre team at best. Every kid that he has brought in, without them you aren't winning crap there.
You all chest bumping and high fiving about the scholarships he is getting for these kids and IMO he is doing that to try and get his name out there which was obvious last year when he applied for the Cincinnati Moeller job without telling anyone at ironton!
When he leaves the program and it will happen (see above) we will sit back and watch the empire crumble. You won't have a league to play in and without the talent coming in, it will be a hard pill to swallow for all of you in Ironton. It will be a sad, sad day. Good luck in trying to schedule 10 teams to play you every year.

Good luck in trying to schedule 10 teams to play you every year.
Let’s start with this year. With a massive senior class and one of the best players in the state, this is the year for IHS to finally win that elusive state title. If that doesn’t happen this year, they have no chance for the foreseeable future. So the game against Wheelersburg in 2024 is a must win. Lose this, and the season could come apart like cheap lawn furniture. Even making the playoffs will be in question.
Same goes for next year. Given what Ironton is losing from this class, if the schedule doesn’t get easier, they will be fighting just for a playoff spot.
Now, to your point, Pendleton is definitely auditioning to get out of Ironton. That is without question. When he leaves, Ironton will lose their top recruiter while being stuck scheduling teams way above their weight class in order to fill a schedule. Will be very sad times at IHS.
And this is why Burg fans are not envious of Ironton. We know it’s a house of cards with Ironton on the verge of not only failing to win a state title, but also failing to make the playoffs most years due to an overpowering schedule. The recruits that have been so instrumental in IHS’s recent success will vanish like a fart in the wind.

You know the funny thing though, on all of it he speaks the truth. Nothing he has said has been fabricated!
