Crab's brother wrote:What a great high school football game! A lot of respect goes out to the pirates. They played their rear ends offs, but Valley's defenses was the difference. There is not enough room on the board for me to compliment all the Valley seniors that deserve praise. Those kids were great and deserve every accolade they receive. I will have more thoughts on this one tomorrow, but there is only one thing I feel compelled to say tonight....

The actions of the wife of an assistant coach from Wheelersburg at the end of tonight's game put a huge black mark on this contest. I won't get into this here, but the things that went on were ridiculous! The fact that so many of the pirates fans that I am close to found it necessary to apologize for her actions, says it all.
I would love for this to be elaborated on a little further. Very curious about this!

Both defenses played large...Two very evenly matched teams....The relentless pressure Miller experienced may have contributed to him missing a couple of wide open receivers, probably for TDs...Valley nearly shot themselves in the foot with countless illegal procedure penalties.....I hope they clean those up before the playoffs...Too late in the season for those type mental errors...Enjoy the win for a day or so and get back to work...The 3rd season begins in a couple of weeks...

Great high school football game! I hate seeing it end like it did for some Pirate seniors, but they have nothing to be ashamed of. I am ashamed of two things and as a Pirate supporter it puts a black eye on our community. First, and maybe "ashamed" is too strong of a word for this, but the sign in the trophy case looks very bad. We have a great history at Burg but stuff like that is not confidence, it is arrogance. Second, as alluded to by others, the coach's wife was an embarrassment. I was standing 10-15 from her and was shocked at the way she yelled at Valley's boys, even cursing them. She had to be escorted out. Stuff like that takes away from the effort that both teams put forth on the field.

Keep your head up Pirates, there is no shame in losing to a team as good as Valley! Still some big football games to go, have to regroup! Proud of you guys!

Good luck to Valley the next few weeks. Class program, class coach, class community.

Great post and thanks for shedding some light on the incident. She needs to be in the concession stand where she belongs stirring hot dog sauce and selling snickers bars. If I'm Burg's coach, I dig that assistant a new body cavity for not having his trollop on a tighter chocker chain. I clearly see where legit Pirate fans are embarrassed by that nonsense. Shame!

It's unfortunate that emotions get the best of us as adults sometimes, let's hope it's a learning experience for her and an example for the kids of how NOT to act as the get older, especially over a high school game.

Hate to hear that a coachs wife got involved . The thing was it was a very very clean game , not hardly any trash talk , no cheap shots . It appeared both teams have a lot of respect for each other . Prob a side story to what happened that the general public isnt aware of . But that doesnt excuse what is being reported here .

about the game . # 40 for valley is Hayden Dunn, a fine young man and a total beast at DE . They just couldnt block him . Also Arnett is a heck of a back . Very underrated in the talk of best RB's around here . And Rolfe made a few plays in the first half that could get over looked but were totally huge .. He caught two low snaps that bounced getting back to him as the punter and he booted the total crap out of both of them . Twice , totally flipped field position by his punts , both off poor snaps . And credit to Valleys coachs for having 3 back to field punts .. nearly every time they gained yards on the return while Burg didnt . That strategic move was huge . Great HS game , Burg's D bent and bent but didnt give up much. Valleys D was superb . The line applied so much pressure the qb didnt have time to go to his second read , and several times missed what was open . The previous week the timing of the passing game for burg was dead on accurate . Last night it just wanst there . Hopefully both teams go deep , would be great if both win their region .

From what I have heard there is more to the story about the coach's wife but I won't put it on here.

not much I can add about this game that someone hasn't already said but just wanna say a couple things about it anyways. I have no "cliché" dog in this fight but did go to the game and I had seen the burg on tv twice and Valley in person 1 time against Buren and after watching it last night I was shocked at how much bigger Valley was compared to the burg. Valley dominated both sides of the line and had the perfect game plan and executed it to perfection, congrats u have a really good football team and everybody and I mean everybody from Valley should call, text, skype and whatever other means of communication thanking the Arnett kid for taking a swing pass out of the backfield on 3 and 18 and running over, under and jumping for a 21 yd 1st down. Absolutley the biggest play in the game in just my opinion. Now with all that being said and Valley did they flat out whipped the burg which is something I have never seen from a burg team but with all that said, the burg was going in to win the game until Eddie fumbled and again credit to Valley for stripping it I guess couldn't see it I was at the other end of the field, if these teams played 10 straight games I am confident it would be 5-5 or maybe 6-4 1 way or the other. But a fun game to watch and great for the area and communities.

That's not entirely true. While we would have been happy to broadcast it if there were room for us, it would have been audio only. VSN video productions require a lot of room and bandwidth. Most places cannot accommodate us.

First Congrats to Valley! As I said earlier I have no dog in this fight so I was not rooting for either team. I have respect for both programs. I think a couple things are obvious with Valley's victory. First I believe Valley has built the premier football program in southern Ohio. A number of years ago when fans are critizing their schedule, Coach Crabtree & Co. never batted an eye. It is now paying off. In order to be the best you have to beat the best and Valley has done that. With that being said, I still believe Wheelersburg has the greatest football tradition. (except for Ironton) in southern Ohio. But tradition has to do with the past. Valley's athletic programs are at the top of the league. I think they do things the right way so that is a compliment to them. Best of luck to both squads in the playoffs.

I don't think anyone can question that. Valley is the football program in southern Ohio. The burg needs to take all those orange and black signs that have anything about dominance on them, paint them yellow and purple and take them out and give them to the Indians.

I wanna know whos bright idea it was to have the sign in the trophy case? This is not the Burg i graduated from and its not what we are about at burg. Good job by both teams, and im sure both teams will do great in the playoffs.

From what I seen of the game, both teams were dominating in their own way! Valley couldn't run up the middle and neither could burg! Valley had their success from running outside for 4-5 per carry it seemed like! Burg ran a little bit by Miller getting lose a few times and burgs passing game wasn't there as much as they would like. Both t eams fought hard and kept each others team to the bare minimum on drives like they are used to doing this year! Valley played a perfect game for them and burg made lots of mistakes! I can see both teams going far in playoffs after learning things from this game. Burg looked like little tiny skinny goats taking on clydesdale horses of the valley indians! they are huge!!!! I'll probably watch all valleys playoff games on Fridays and all Burgs playoff games on Saturday! Go SOC II!!!!!

The ultimate domination is on the scoreboard. This group of seniors were 0-3 vs valley and never won the SOC. how many has valley won in a row now? how long has it been since they lost a regular season game? How many soc championships in a row? The answer to those questions is Domination. They have dominated the Soc for 3 yrs. The burgs dominant against inferior competition. Crabtree and his coaching staff has owned the burg. If they end up playing the top 3 teams in the region it will be a very short run.

Valley has done a good job over the last 3 years, but I disagree with just about everything else you say. Both these teams should make an deeprun into the playoffs.

Valley has done a nice job the past three years being sound with the ball, having great talent, and excellent coaching. But Valley squeaking out wins the past two years against the Burg with that talent, I wouldn't be bragging.
