"Cow pasture with paint lines" That's a pretty good analysis, I agree, the field did not look good, must have done some more cost cutting by not watering and airiating it.

All I'm saying is it didn't look that good, not like late Oct. when it looks even worse. Not going to get into it over this, but superblue is right, don't expect to be playing in Centenary anytime soon. I don't look for a stadium to be in play until 2015, it's gonna take a lotta dough to get that completed. By the way gahs4ever, does 2old really get under your skin that bad? Consider the source, I have to laugh at ever reply you two fire at each other. And seeing how you are a moderator, can't you just get rid of this guy, like someone else I won't mention?

Everyone just kind of pounced on 2old in this thread. The only post he made had something to do with the game and not anything to do with Ironton, schedules, etc. I know he does some on his own too but this thread alone shows that people jump on his back too.

I think Superblue has a crush on him as he's always talking about him.

Take your &*%$ to the chat forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack Payton has done many good things at GAHS , had two fine sons to play for the school .

It sounds like superblue has a vendetta against the man.

The field has never been in good shape since GAHS and Point played in a down pour a few years a go , and the field was cover the next day with water for 5 or 6 days .

Bill Wamsley did a great job with the field for many years before that happen .

...... back to the game , should be a very good game !

gobigblacks, He kinda dissed on ole PPHS if you remember on another thread. But you are right, he brings it on himself, if we talk about him anymore in this thread, then we would both have "Chieftan Envy"

You've just gotta learn to roll with the punches and until my school goes out and does something about our reputation the last few years, what can I really say? Most people here know we used to have a pretty good football program and we feel like we're getting back to that but we have to put it on the field to take away the negativity that surrounds our program from an outsider's eyes.

My point was, that he made a completely neutral observation on this thread and just got jumped on. I know you guys have it out for each other but I would at least try to leave it in the threads where either he or you have an agenda and say something blatantly negative.

Gahs,

Playing foot loose and fancy free with the facts. i criticize schedules and the level of compettition in the league because I KNOW the kids can do better. My point is the AD's are holding these kids back. They are not allowing the kids to see the big picture. The AD's like so many posters fail to have vision. You must challenge players in all sports. Beating year after year the same team does not improve the program SE Ohio does not fair well year after year in the playoffs. Now there are many posible reasons.
1, SE Ohio is happy with complacency.
2. The coaching is not up to par.
3. The kids in SE OHIO are for some reason not a s good. ( i definitely do not accept this premise) although many posters appear to believe.

It is 100 yards and a football. You block, you tackle. Nothing to it, it is a simple game. Too many of the student athletes are not challenged and too many of the student athletes never see a good team ( or more than one) until the playoffs. It does a kid no good in these forums to read about the # of students Logan has. This is a common whine of posters. This is a built in excuse for the kids. All these kids can be better. All posters should quit complaining and expect that their programs improve. Programs do NOT improve if not challenged.

I rarely say anything about kids. i am too busy trying to keep posters focused on being honest with themselves and with the level of play their respective teams have accomplished.

I will tell you this. The state of affairs of SE Ohio football is not due to the kids.

Some posters are too stuck on the past. It has nearly blinded them. i have pointed out a few times the current state of the program. Posters take offense to it. Sorry it is the truth.

Others posters hate to hear that their schedule is soft. Well their schedules are soft. Look at Chilly's schedule. Marietta, Zville. These kids have a chance to get better. Zville appears to be doing that. In the last two years Zville has moved up in ability and expectations. Other programs have not. I have a feeling Jackson will enter week four with no idea how good their team is.

Yes I get on you guys( who make my post disappear and hate to hear the truth) but if this league does not improve Logan does not improve. It is just that simple.

Drop the personal attacks.

2old may get under people's skin on here including mine but that last post was thoughtful and considerate. The personal jabs are unecessary both from his standpoint as well as from those who directs theirs toward him and this definitely isnt the place for that. I agree mostly with his most recent post with the exception of a couple things, 1) this Point team is much like the ones that were competitive in our league but still aren't proven on the field this year. 2) Jackson will get theirs tonight and see exactly where they stand as a team.

I don't have Chieftain envy nor do I know anyone who does however we do respect their program and I wouldn't change that for anything. If you have no respect for your oponent then who have you really beaten if you achieve victory?? Logan and GA are the only 2 programs to win SEOAL championships since the turn of the century correct?

Back to topic: Gallia by 8 in this one but who really knows what Point will look like. On paper they are better than several SEOAL teams but haven't played a game yet. Good luck to both teams but most importantly, GO BLUE!!!

Great post 2old. Didn’t put down anyone, just stating the obvious. Maybe GAHS needs to schedule some Teams from Canada……. That has been tried……….LOL I guess I need to add GAHS 7462 to the jester list….”Take your *%$ to the chat Forum….” The word you are looking is “Facts”… Fun wrote he thinks I have a Vendetta against the King.. Not, Some posters dwell on the positive, I just point out the other side of the issue….. And what does Jack had 2 sons that attended GAHS have to do with anything…. I have 3 kids that graduated from GAHS. So what???? The field Conditions…. Never blamed The AD for them… Just pointed out it will take $$$ to correct the problems….. A new stadium by 2015…… I hope so, but I would not bet on it….. You can not finance a new stadium by donations or pledges.. You need big chunks of $$$.... I have attended Meetings about the stadium and the figure mentioned is between 3 & 5 Million for the complex…. Locker rooms, lights, concession stands will all have to be funded…. This should have been included in the levy, someone made a big mistake by not doing this……. Ask 2old how the new Chieftain stadium was funded…. Ya all have a great day and see you at the game…………

Last year a Gallia Academy coach said to me that they expected to be at Memorial Filed for another 10 years.

karl,

I was told close to the same thing unless they came up with a "miracle". Have to play the cards that are dealt and reality is that I don't have the money to donate so I can't say a word, I assume others that seem so concerned about this either don't have it or aren't willing t fork it over.

Interesting post, turkey...

chipwood:

and with the way construction costs have gone up with the cost of fuels, can you imagine what that does to speculative plans like the future of a Gallia Academy stadium?

karl,

correct you are sir and they are not going to level off anytime soon or ever. Any lengthy project such as that is always out of budget due to just that, increase in materials. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the Mason/Pomeroy bridge project.

I wonder where rising fuel costs will take someplace like Gallia Academy.

Many districts are discussing using "pay-to-play" to subsidize rising fuel costs.

Where does a district like Gallipolis City, which already has pay-to-play policies, go for help? How far up do the playing fees go?
