He was a running back, wide receiver, and kick returner. He was also the 2nd string kicker. Our first kicker tore his ACL in a soccer game. Wes was a big piece of the offense for Alex. It really hurts.

Our thoughts and our prayers go out to Wes and his family from Federal Hocking. That kid is a true gamer and an exciting player in multiple sports. Get better soon Wes.

it is truly sad to hear about wes. i unfortanately was unable to attend the game (had to work) but multiple source tell me that it was a cheap shot... i dont know once again i was not there. scenario A: it was a cheap shot, i was told there was no penalty called. if this were the case were the refs looking the other direction? or did they just bite the whistle?

in any case congrats to belpre. sounds like alexander needs to work on some BALL HANDLING!!! same thing that may have cost the trimble game.....

Since when is a straight on block a cheap shot? No one likes to see injuries on the field, but this was just a good hard block on the fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Go Eagles!

I wouldnt call it a cheap shot by no means. I dont think think either kid needed to throw the block because the kid was already in the Endzone. The Belpre boy did peel back but the Meadows boy took the block on when the play was already over. They were jus playing football, wasnt like he hit him when he wasnt looking. The only cheap shot was when a Belpre player threw a punch and did not get ejected for it. Other than that it was a clean hard nose game, a lot of hitting going on. Congrats to Belpre on the win and Alexander keep your heads up you guys are so close, keep working hard and the Wins will come.

It WAS a cheap shot and it wasn't the only thing the officials missed last night. There were enough blown calls to make a difference in the outcome of the game. Not sure what was going through Arno's head with some of the decisions he made either. Let's hope the coaches get it together before next week. Go Spartans!

Please explain exactly how it was a cheap shot. I was sure players were susposed to block till the wistle blew. Oh, I know, there must be certain players that we aren't allowed to block.

Let me warn you that the mods have already taken the Minford -Coal Grove thread off because of talk of dirty play.

wow look what i have started...maybe asking if it was a cheap shot was a bit far fetched. i wanted to get the scoop i was not there. it was not intended to stir anything up. based on one of the comments about the block being made after the kid was in the endzone it kinda sounds like it mighta been i dont know. its in the past. i do think that the kid that threw the punch should have been ejected and heavily punished for it. there is absolutely no need for that kind of nonsense.

anyway congrats to the golden eagles. spartans next week is a whole nother game. prepare well. prayers go out to wesley meadows. hes a good kid and he multi-sport player. he will be missed on the team.

Atown, you didn't ask if it was a cheap shot, you just assumed so. I just watched the film; it was a good clean block made before the ball carrier went into the endzone, and well before the whistle blew. In football, injuries happen and are not always the result of cheap shots. These irrational Alex fans need to quit crying and whinning about everything and move on. Maybe soccer should be your sport, or playing with dolls, anything but football.

Go Eagles.

the last thing i did was assume it was a cheap shot. i was not there, if you go up and read my post i think that you will reconsider your comment. after multiple sources tell you it was, you kinda have to lean that direction, never was it an assumption.

and yet we go back to the soccer thing. i as a spartan played football since third grade. and i have yet to cry about anything on any post. in fact i think i even congratulated belpre on the win. SO GET OFF MY A$$

I was at this game and I believe that the block that was made by BOTH the Alex player and Belpre player was uncalled for. They were about 20 feet from the play and the player with the ball was close enough to the end zone that neither one of them could have made a difference on the play. Both players lowered their shoulders and hit each other. It was a stupid block by both and as hard as they hit, it is a wonder that both players wasn't hurt on it. I do have to agree that the officials missed several 12 men on the field calls. But that did not loss the game for Alex. A couple interceptions and a fumble, we shot ourselves in the foot once again. Maybe we will learn from this and play better ball against the Lancers on Friday night. However, they are kicking some butt right now. Play hard and be safe. Good luck Alex... Lets do something different this week and win against a tough team.

mom? Had the whistle blown before the block occured? Players are tought to block till the whistle blows, any thing else is unacceptable.

Go Eagles

No, the whistle had not blown. I understand what you are saying but I still feel that the boys should have seen that they was not going to make a difference in the outcome of the TD and this could have been avoided. Thankful that both boys didn't get hurt. From where I was sitting I think at the time of the block, the Belpre player with the ball was within 5 yard of the goal line and these players were 20 feet away from him. I see what you are saying also, play until you hear the whistle..... Oh well, can't change anything now...Good luck to all teams this Friday. Safe travels!!!!
