I think that both teams will rise to the occasion, and this game will be, one that these boys tell their grandkids about. I know for me personally the playoff game in 2000 is chock full of memories that I will never forget, as it was a true battle between two very good teams.

This from the person that called someone an idiot?????????
Isn't that like that pot calling the kettle black?
Good luck to both teams and let's all play nice. These kids are all friends off the field and are probably ashamed of the way some of us act on here.
Show some class, I'm sure both teams will.

should be a great football game between the burg and the falcons. aren't you glad that we all have our favorite teams to root for? how boring would it be if everyone loved and rooted for the same team.

FABER!! Just got the 1st chance to reread the post. MAN, I am sorry!! I completely misread your comment. Too obvious, and i am at your MERCY! I will buy you a six pack!!!
Minford HAS NOT SEEN a defense like they will at the Burg. The Minford running attack will gain some yards but will be stifled when it counts! Burg will absolutely dominate this game defensively from start to finish in the long run! Craigmiles, Adkins, Walker, White and Hall will have a HUGE game for Burg!! Holbrook, Parsley and J shank will contribute big time!! Lil ol Kemper will be a monster! On offense, B shank will get back to his normal self this week or his brother will make him pay! Craigmiles will be a beast also on offense. Stegman and Hopper should have huge games against the Falcons. White will get his yards and dont forget the triple threat of Walker, Adkins and OLD Shank at the running back positions. But I look for this Oline to make a statement in this game. They are getting better and lapsed last week but will make up for it big time this week!
As skeds go, pretty even as some have said but if you take away Waverly, not much for Minford on this one. Waverly gave Minford credibility and thats it. You dont see any Falcon fans posting anything good about that Burg win vs Itown, and thats ok, I think the Falcons will find out how good Burg is this friday!

Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
It comes down to who hurts theirself the worst..
flashback to last year when minford fumbled a few times inside the 20/allowed conversions on key 3rd and 4th downs, if they could have cut down on 1/2 of those mistakes they would have one the game, but they didn't and they lost, its done, its over..
i will say it again.. the only thing to slow down the falcons will be theirself..
OR a midnight downpour on thursday night that happens to only go down on ed miller stadium!! bring the long cleats just in case!!
Go Falcons. No score needed.

Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
As most of you know I'm a die hard Burg fan and follow and support them to the bitter end. With that said I have to say this, I just watched the Minford/Waverly game on NexTVSports and the Burg will have their hands full Friday night. Minford is the real deal. They have size on the offensive line, they have speed at every skill position, and they have a really good defense.
Their backs are very adept at hitting the holes made by the O line and if that lane isn't there they are really good at cutting back and finding a seam. They are also really good at breaking tackles and the Burg is going to have to wrap up and make sure the runner is down. I saw numerous times where Waverly just hit the runners and they bounced off for huge chunks of yardage.
Lots of misdirection plays and the Pirates are going to have to very alert and on their toes to make the defensive stops. The Burg can win if they play a good solid game and limit the mistakes, but they can't give the ball to the Falcons on TO's and they can't let the Falcons keep drives alive with penalties because they will make you pay. I was very impressed with the way the Falcons just basically manhandled Waverly at every aspect of the game. Like I said, the Burg can win, but should they lose there will be no shame in losing to such a worthy opponent.
Anyone that doubts what I say can go to this link and watch the game. They don't show the game in it's entirety because of technical difficulties, but you can see enough of it to see just how good the Falcons are this year.

Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
I apologize to yabbadabbadoo for the name calling. There is no excuse for that on a public forum. That post just went thru me, that in Minford's eyes, this is their Superbowl. Every week, we have been disrespected by somebody and it get's old. This is a big game for us, but the other three will be just as important as we make a run for the playoffs.
Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
Just this one post for the week, and I`m going to stay of here because some of this is silly.
I hope to see an injury free game, good sportsmanship, by the players AND fans, but most of all a Fair call game by the reffs.
This is just MY guess;
Falcons 28
Burg 24
Young Men, when you put on that Falcon jursery Friday nite, You put it on with PRIDE !
no matter what you read on here, We are all proud of you, and proud to be a FALCON !
Were comming to your city !!

Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
IMO the Burg's skill players are too much for the Falcons, Pirates in a close 1 20-19.
Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
I have seen burg 2 times this year and minford 2 times wheelersburg is solid on defense but struggled late against the best team they played this year due to thier lack of depth at almost every position except skill players. Offensively they rely heavily on the mobility of the QB to set up most of thier plays(defense must account for him). minford is also solid on defense they have dominated all of thier opponents especially the best team they played. Offensively rely on running the ball with 5 different backs (lots of fresh legs) and an O line that only plays one way. After seeing both i think this game is close at the half but minfords depth wears down the pirates in the second half.

Apology accepted oldcoach and trust me, in no way, shape or form was I disresepcting Minford. I apologize if it came off that way.
I know, as well the majority of the Burg posters on here know that this is going to be a dogfight. After reading BG77's post, I know he has watched enough Burg football over the years to know what he is talking about in watching the Minford game the other night on the net.
If the Burg plays like they did in the 1st half against Valley, then this game could get ugly real fast and not in the Burg's favor.
Here is to some good chatter this week about the upcoming contest and here is to an injury free game for both schools. Ed Miller stadium will be rockin'
I only have one more thing to add: ORANGE wear it

Re: Game of the Week 7: Minford (6-0) vs. Wheelersburg (6-0)
one thing Minford cant afford is the dumb penalties. one player had 2 STUPID penalties against Waverly and you cant do that against good teams. 1 time lead to a TD and the other would have given Minford the ball deep in the Waverlys territory but a roughing the passer call kept that from happening. you have to play with intensity but you have to play SMART!
