Re: 2009 Warren Football
so, to get this thread moving again (although it might be a little premature),
who's battling for spots next season? which current frosh/sophs are going to step up and fill in for a pretty athletic senior class? which ones might last longer than the first scrimmage?

Re: 2009 Warren Football
here are some possible positions of players for this year
QB: Ellenwood, Hilverding, Wolfe
FB: Wolfe, Pritt, Harlow, Henthorn
HB: Pritt, Harlow
WB: Arnold, Yocum, Mason, Zoller, Root
TE: Venham, Morrison, Fivecoait, Windland
SE: Venham, Coffman, Yocum
OL: Alfred, Arbuckle, Hendrix, Greathouse, Timberman, Mayle, Tenney, Coy, there have also been a couple other big guys in the weight room but I do not have their names right now.
DT: Arbuckle, Hendrix, Timberman, Greathouse, Alfred
DE: Venham, Alfred, Arbuckle
LB: Wolfe, Pritt, Venham, Mason, Ellenwood, Harlow, Arbuckle
S: Arnold, Mason, Coffman, Ellenwood
CB: Yocum, Zoller, Coffman, Arnold
Ryan Kemper has said he will play as well. He would be a nice receiver/DB
Jon Starner (soccer player) has agreed to kick. This is a huge addition for the warriors. People believe me, when I say this kid can kick 50 yds....he can kick 50 yds.

yes, jordan coffman. He has played golf fresh-junior year and has shyed away from football because of past knee injuries but has elected to play this year instead of golf. He has been liftin after school with the team and seems very committed and excited about this year (his senior year). He will add some depth and play-making ability at the receiver spot this fall if he keeps it up.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
I know that blocking isnt Venham's forte, but catching balls is.
Venham at SE, maybe Morrison at TE?
He spent most of last year on IR, but he's got a good head on his shoulders, and looks to have some potential.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Here's the deal . . .
Offensively the skill positions will be just fine. Most have lots of experience, those that don't will step up. The offensive game will be won or lost in the trenches.
Defensively the LBs and secondary will be just fine. Lot's of experience there too. Plenty of folks to fill the gaps left by the departing SRs. The defensive game will be won or lost in the trenches.
I suppose this is a MOTO statement (master of the obvious) but it's all about the play of the line next year. If we can get kids in the weight room (like, they should be there already) and really take a step forward on the line, then I'm not crazy (honest!) when I say the playoffs are a possibility.
The linemen need to be working like DOGS right now.
Are they?

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Arbuckle and Alfred have been lifting every day. Greathouse, mayle, and a couple other big guys have been there 2 or 3 of the 4 days. Have not seen timberman and that could be a problem. If he wants to start next year he needs to get a lot stronger.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
If I'm correct, Hendrix didnt just injure his hand, he almost shattered it. It's not in good shape.
Hopefully six months of rehab is enough for football season, but...
i guess it just means that someone will have to step up.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
The seniors need to be talking with Timberman and Lane to get them in the weight room. Zack Place told me he "might" play or he "might" get a job. He is a very big, very strong kid. Someone needs to talk to him too.
Hate to hear about Hendrix. He's a quality kid who needs to catch a break.
