Who are N-Y and Meigs non-league games next year ? If tougher non-league competition was scheduled it might better prepare you both for the post season playoffs and give you both a better chance of winning a first round game.

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
Piketon and Ironton are good games as they are both DIV I believe and Ironton is Ironton and Piketon should have a good team returning with some kids that were injured last year being back and 2 or 3 good athletes on the basketball team play football also. I don't think Berne Union will have much back this year and Trimble, well, enough said. These non-leagues should help you guys. Anyone with Meigs non-league schedule ?

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
Back to predictions ....
Nelsonville-York .... 4-2
Wellston ..... 4-2
Athens ..... 4-2
Meigs .... 3-3
Alexander ... 2-4
Belpre .... 2-4
Vinton County ... 2-4
*** The TVC title comes down to Athens Vs Nelsonville-York late in the year ... If the Bucks win, they take home the title solo ... If Athens wins, it's a 3-way tie.
Athens - 28
Nelsonville-York - 27 In Overtime.

I would rather have Trimble week 10 and Athens week 9, That would keep the kids fired up come playoff time.
Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
I agree, Trimble week 10 and Athens week 9. We just have to figure out how to get Trimble in the Ohio division.

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
We use to play Logan every year in week 10 (which use to be Athens rival) ... But, one problem with that is - weather always seemed to have a major impact on the outcome.
Gregory's junior year, Athens had a real shot of beating the chieftains but had to travel (to Logan) and play in a cold, wet, muddy mosh pit which really hampered their chances of winning ... They lost 6-0 or maybe it was 12-0.
That scenerio played out quite often over the years, usually it was just waaaaaay freakin cold!
I like to see the biggest games of the year played in weeks 5, 6 or 7 ... It's not quite cold yet, but nights are cool enough to make the players comfortable ... team have had enough preperation and seem to be at their peak at that time of the season ...

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
Well just play that week 10 game at Boston Field every year and you wont have to worry about weather. If not, Trimble's field is bad no matter what time of year it is, so week 10 wouldn't be any different.

Look for Vinton County to be vastly improved from last season. I've been talking to some people and I hear the kids are really hitting the weights hard. VC has always been at the top of the TVC or right there knocking at the door until last season. Look for things to get back where they were. We have a strong tradition to build on and I look for VC to challenge for a league title this coming season.

I hope so. When we played you guys weeks 10 it seemed liked they showed a little early on in the game. I know they will be ready to go this year.

I don't think we will ever see Trimble in the Ohio Division in all honesty. If Trimble wanted in the Ohio Division, they would have tried to switch by now. Another factor is how fast the student enrollment is declining at Trimble. They will be down to 112 boys for next school year. They are fast approaching what I call the "Waterford numbers" (the smallest school in the TVC Hocking). The only upside for Trimble is the fact that all the other Hocking schools are shrinking down to those same numbers as well.
2009-2010 Enrollment:
TVC OHIO -
Athens - 363 boys, 322 girls
Vinton County - 296 boys, 263 girls
Meigs - 223 boys, 228 girls
Alexander - 206 boys, 196 girls
Wellston - 181 boys, 187 girls
Nelsonville-York - 161 boys, 139 girls
Belpre - 140 boys, 118 girls
TVC HOCKING -
Federal Hocking - 138 boys, 124 girls
Trimble - 112 boys, 125 girls
Miller - 97 boys, 92 girls
Eastern - 95 boys, 98 girls
Southern - 91 boys, 65 girls
Waterford - 90 boys, 88 girls

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
as ric flair was fond of saying " to be the man you have to beat the man". saying that until ny isn't, they're the champs. i think meigs will reload this year. they have a lot of the skill position kids back, they have a coach who now knows he is very good, what they lost is a lot of heart. is there any left. i think so but i am not objective. i think we have ny at meigs this year. our team last year lost in the play-offs but played better than a whole host of teams that lost to new lex( hear me, ironton!) they know they can win against the best. i'll be there every friday. come on fall.
Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
The Buckeyes will be OK. Yes they have to replace the QB, but if I can recall I don't believe he had good passing numbers last year. Also after week 2 everyone knew Arnold was getting the ball as much as possible. There were a lot of times I saw what looked like everyone in the box. This team will be very young, I believe only 4 seniors. Jr will really need to step it up! The Buckeyes will have 3 possible QB this year. Andrews (JR), Dean (Soph) and Bookman (Fr). All three have the ability to play on Friday nights. But, I know all 10 teams on the schedule will be looking for one person, ARNOLD. Which is OK, the Bucks have other weapons that can step in up when needed.

NYF, from what I have heard around town Bookman is not in the mix anymore, rumor is he's going to a catholic school.

Re: TVC ohio Predictions!
Anyone happen to watch channel 15's showing of the '81 championship game on Tuesday (8th) ... I believe I watched it at least 4 times ... lol
Very cool I must say, very cool!
Greg Jones, Woodson, Bish, Taggert ... Those guys were freakin football studs, no doubt about it ... No. 53, the MLB - Wow, that guy was a freakin monster for a kid in 1981 ... any 'Bucks fan know which player that was?

I have also heard this...I find it hard to believe that his dad would do such a thing. He has been coaching at the High School and now he is sending his son elsewhere to play? This just doesnt seem right to me...His dad also graduated from NY ! I will talk to his dad and find out the truth. The Bookman boy would have a chance to play as a freshman at NY ( He is very good).91Buckeye wrote:NYF, from what I have heard around town Bookman is not in the mix anymore, rumor is he's going to a catholic school.
