hey dexter we didnt go last year cause we couldnt because of the weather!!!!
and by the way we won state the two years before that buddy!! and last year we were stronger than both years before!! and i doubt the coal grove coaches forgot to add piketons totals up at state cause they dont do it!! and there are no coal grove judges there either!! so wats ur excuse now??...when piketon comes "in town" in kenton they get screwed?? haha..face it u guys are not stronger than coal grove!! i will say that piketon is strong and have some very strong atheletes but u wouldnt just add in there totals even if the screwed up!! just cause two guys put together totals more than 2000 doesnt mean u would win!!
u had a team total of 12 lifters!...the only way u would win is if the difference between the guys u add in(Travis Crawford and Taylor Tackett) and the guys u took out added up to 2000 pounds and i seriously doubt that!!!!!!!

follow me here-
say ur total was 12000 and cg was 14000----2000lbs difference
say we even let u replace the two weakest in ur team total with Travis Crawford and Taylor Tackett...if the two weakest was 800lbs totals, take that away from ur team total which would be be 12000-1600 which equals 10400..now add in Travis Crawford and Taylor Tacketts totals..now unless those two boys combine for 3600lbs or a total of 1800 a piece they have no chance!!!
i know how this all goes!! even if cg messed up and corrected it u still wouldnt have won! :-D :-D

you know i was also at the regional lifting for VC and what these kids from Piketon are saying is right. Kids from coal grove weren't going anywhere close to parallel and were getting credit for it. They also hitched like crazy deadlifting and got credit. and i say sqat suits and knee wraps are steroids that cant be tested for. that doesn't prove how strong you are just how good you can wrap your knees. nobody from VC used that crap and still put up big numbers. Piketon used very few too. Coal grove everybody had them. and my cousin got cheated out of a spot because coal grovers could hitch and get credit. he cleaned deadlifted 500 while a coal grove guy hitched like 5 times not a clean lift but counted for them. bunch of cheaters.

I think the real question is....Can you guys translate this strength onto the football field?

So many weightlifting lies on this thread I'm getting some good laughs....... 155 lb skinnies benching 290. This one takes the cake.

I would say he's probably not lying! That's probably not even the record!

Anyway, about the squat suits and knee wraps, if all kids are allowed to use them, it's just a though loss that some kids don't. It's not like the school buys them for each lifter, the dedicated ones get them for themselves, because it's obvious that it helps.

Also, I don't care what kind of "bad calls" people say they were getting at the Coal Grove meets. Coal Grove will win the state meet in Kenton, where Coal Grove is typically despised for whatever reason. If you want to "put up big numbers", that would be the place to do it. IMO, nothing really matters until the state meet anyway.

And no Incognito, it translates into football, but the kids that get carried away with trying to lift so much are the ones that lose the quickness and agility aspect of it, as we typically see from Coal Grove. Most kids can't hold a 700 squat and still be able to run a 4.7 40 yard dash. There just needs to be a better mixture of speed with this strength that power lifting gives.

Yeah, maybe so. I tip the old hat to any kid that weighs 155 and can bench in the neighborhood of 300 is dedicated in the weight room and slightly freakish for a 15-16 yr old kid. On the other point on this thread. Arch your spine all you want just don't lift your cheeks off the bench....good lift, don't matter what school you go too.

Lifting ammounts don't always make a kid a great football player either, I've seen kids who couldn't bench more than 225 absolutley lay a lick and play good football. Lifting just enhances the gift.

I wouldn't go that far. Powerlifting does make a big diffrence in an athlete, in ANY sport.

The competitions are what I am calling out. WEIGHTLIFTING and core training are essential to athletics, especially football but the value of these competitions are questionable IMO. They can measure SOME strength characterisitics but they sure don't measure heart and athletic IQ.

I really don't care if you believe it or not, I seen him do it myself. He quit playing football after his Sophomore year to concentrate on lifting. He's a Senior this year and is 5'6 / 155 and strong as an ox. He finished third at the State meet last year benching 270 lbs.
