You also know that I have supported the Kids at VCHS at times too. I hope to see you at the game tomorrow night, and dont tell me you are afraid of a little rain . Besides you wont melt ,but you might float!

I know you have supported VCHS good luck tonight but trust me Athens is alot better than VC.
Know the Bulldogs are going to win tonight. The weather again will be a factor but Athens is coming in knowing that this game means a lot to them, the fans, and the community. Good Luck Bulldogs!
wellston will win this game!! they have everyone back except for their center, loudermilk, but jaylen prater will fill in there.. look for the rockets to run behind him tonight..
I think this could be a good game, Wellston is a much better team than the record shows, Athens has a god team and has shown it, they are playing at Wellston and if Wellston came keep it close they can win this game. If Athens gets ahead they will run away with it.
Athens has been able to focus on the job at hand so far this season and I foresee that continuing. Coach Adams displays a blue collar mentality in his coaching (just like he did as a player) and that is evident in his players. You don't see his players get overly excited . . . just taking care of business. I look for them to come out and take care of business this week also.
With that being said, last week the Athens coaching staff put together an outstanding offensive game plan, the defense came to play - creating turnovers, and the wet conditions didn't adversely impact their play. Offensively they did what they needed to do - controlled the clock by using a solid ground game not allowing Alexander to utilize their strength (Lawson & Hedrick) offensively.
Special teams have been able to break games open this year for Athens . . . I hope that continues. McCullum has displayed a "returners mentality" . . . he looks to take it to the house each time he gets a touch.
As usual, this game will be won in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Athens line (Keener, Rider, White, Chapman, Anderson, etc.) has shown improvement each week in both run blocking and pass protection. Rider played an outstanding game last week at nose from sideline to sideline and his younger brother has been coming on strong in the last few weeks at linebacker.
From a skilled player standpoint, Athens is blessed with a number of players (both in the backfield and receiver position) that can make big plays . . . as seen a number of times this season. Given the ball in space, they can score and score often.
I'll be the first to admit this game scares the crap outta me, Wellston matches up rather well against us and with the wet field conditions and possible rain during the game?....... I think Athens pulls off the win but it'll be the toughest one yet, I promise you that.
