Rocket50 wrote:A. Everybody is not against the Rockets. You dont have to be "against" a team to predict a loss. Marshall is my second favorite team but when they went to Columbus, there was no way in H they were going to come close to OSU. That is called reality.

B. Actually there are 17 people on this thread who think Wellston is going to win so dont go paranoid on me.

I cant remember a time at GAHS when there was this much interest in a non league game that wasnt Ironton, so fans of both schools are in week 3 with high hopes. That, to me, is a strong positive.

The difference in this year's GAHS team IMO is we have playmaker(s), plural, ie more than one. When you think of the Wing T, you think of a grind it out, thre yards and a cloud of dust, clock eating machine. But you only have to look at the first two boxscores to see that the Blue Devils are getting big plays from several players and thus far have shown a propensity to score from anywhere on the field, regardless of down and distance.

Will that continue? Who knows? Only a fool looks past the next opponent, the next possession, the next play. That is called focus and seems to be one of our strengths this year.

Of course Im going to predict a Blue Devil victory, but that is because I believe in and respect our kids and coaches and how they go about their business. That in no way is meant as disrespect to Wellston.
You make some good points. My post was directed toward another post in this thread which basically says gallia is going to win by a bunch. Believe me, there is no "paranoia" directed toward you or any other posters that support gallia. All I'm saying is that wellston is a tough team and will not be a cakewalk for gallia.

On the flip side, this is going to be a gut check game for the rockets to see how tough they are mentally after the loss. Anybody who knows southeastern ohio football knows that gallia is as tough as they come. I'm realistic when it comes to wellston football. There hasn't been too much winning in recent years. They got a taste against jackson in week one after a 19 year drought. That's all over now and they got a tough test this week and it will be more of a measuring stick of how far Hutch has brought wellston along. IMO this is a key game as to whether wellston can run with the big boys. Their non-league schedule is tough this season and any good opponent like gallia can only help when it comes time for the rockets to play for the tvc.

So don't take my post too literally, gahs4ever. It was only directed at calling out the ones who seem to think wellston is a cakewalk. Good luck to your team, but i'll stand by my pick for the rockets. I can't wait for friday.

A matchup of two teams that are both on the upswing. This game will probably provide a look into the rest of the year for these two teams. I am going with GAHS. Hoping for an injury free game for both teams.

I do not believe Jackson overlooked Wellston......Wellston led by a small margin and then opened it up late...IMO that is not overlooking.

Wellston completely outplayed Jackson in every aspect of the game.....everyone needs to quit trying to take anything away from Wellston's win that night.

Wellston and gallipolis are two teams that are hard tosay how good they are right now...this game will tell a good bit IMO.

Blue Devil JV beat Coal Grove 28-14 tonight
Scoring for the Blue Devils were Nick Clagg on 2 runs, Justin Bailey receiving and Caleb Craft on a rush.
Great overall effort by the young Blue Devils who are now 2-0.

Wellston has talent but this game is a must win for them. Will Wellston be the best 6-4, 5-5 team in southern ohio or a playoff team. Without
knowing anything about Gallia I can't make a prediction. but I'd expect Wellston to play very well.

I'll take the Devils by 14+. I was very impressed by the atmosphere last week at the Hillsboro game and I expect this game won't be any different. Plus the GA student section is one of the, if not the best around. And 91blue was correct, better get Wilson before he finds the open field because once he turns on the burners, add 6 on the board!!!

friday_nite_fan, the Devils won't win by 14+ this is a good Rocket team that plays great defense, I picked the Rockets to win in a close one but if they don't this game will still be close! This is going be a very physical game on both sides of the ball who ever wins in the trenches will win this game!
