wellston rocket football program
Re: wellston rocket football program
All the drama may not be confined just to wellston board meetings. VC could have an interesting one coming up. Regardless, hopefully what's best for the kids is what's done. In both communities!

I'll take it and hold ya to it!Wellston Ironman wrote:wrestlersdad6766 wrote:They do the best with what they got when it comes to coaches not being paid it doesn't matter who coaches these teams assistants being paid will be hard to do, that is something only the BOE can fix. Like I said the weight room could and can be easily heated with this magical thing they call a heater I don't see why that is even an issue? just because you have to plug it in instead of turn a knob doesn't mean it won't do the job..Wellston Ironman wrote:Ok...some serious thoughts......
1. I am not suggesting Wellston cancel football. But, if you are gonna have it, you have to hire and pay the coaches. I cant imagine trying to run a program with only one guy getting paid. STUPID!
2. To compete, you must develop players. Cant do that if the weight room is cold. Kids wont come. If you want to offer the sport, you gotta supply the heat for offseason training. You can do without AC but you have to have heat.
Now back to some foolishness. Please dont heat the weightroom. Please dont pay coaches. Please dont cancel our annual whipping of the rockets. Just keep on running a joke of a program and blaming its lack of success on the coaches. Its worked out great so far.
I still want to know where I can get some friggin cheese cake though lol
The dessert is for the ladies.......I am sure if you look around town you can figure me out. I will say this. If you ask for free cheesecake in person i will give it to you. How is that for a challenge?

I ran into some ladies who drinkin it up pretty good the other night. They said something about going to a meeting as they were downing some liquid courage. Could these be the same ones in the news article. They was HOT.Wellston Ironman wrote:wrestlersdad6766 wrote:They do the best with what they got when it comes to coaches not being paid it doesn't matter who coaches these teams assistants being paid will be hard to do, that is something only the BOE can fix.

Wellston BOE needs to remember. You get what you pay for.
ALL of Wellston's football problems start at the top. Until Football is important to the people in charge, Wellston football will suck.
Where is Wellston BOE supposed to pull this money from?? I mean yea there are a few that could take a pay cut but how many coaches do you think they would be able to pay then? my guess is one or two more?
Everybody is tight on money and finding it for sports is not top priority. But how much funding is the school system willing to lose not to fix this problem? I know alot of kid from 1st thru 10 that have transferred already and the more you lose the less money you have and your teams are not as good when athletes leave so less people come to games so you lose money again. The truth is that your sports programs can cause funding problems for the education side of thing. When kids leave you lose around 6k right off the top so how many of the loses can system take before you have to cut teachers?

Re: wellston rocket football program
What happened that caused the coaching stipends to be cut? They always paid assistant coaches prior to hiring Hutch didn't they?

Re: wellston rocket football program
I think no assistants have been paid since the Hinton era? I do believe Wellston was in a fiscal emergency at the beginning of 2007 or 2008? which led to some cuts and the paid assistants where the first to go.. please correct me if I am wrong on that? Then the BOE was stiffed by the contracting company that built the schools, they were built improperly leaving the school unsupported due to no re-bar being in the walls, I think that may have also cost them what little bit of a recovery they were making?SouthernStorm wrote:What happened that caused the coaching stipends to be cut? I love this post. Also, the best thing about people who are from Nelsonville and fans of the Nelsonville Buckeyes is that they have Athens on their license plates.Wellston Ironman wrote:drunkone wrote:Personally. I think CONSOLIDATION is the answer. Send those rockets to vinton county.

Next public school board meeting is thurs. Dec. 11th. The answers to this situation may be revealed on that evening. We shall see.
Re: wellston rocket football program
Wellston has bigger problems than Hutchs football record. The super, board and parents are all to blame and now they are making kids suffer to keep there power going. There kids should be able to do whats best for them and not be caught up in this mess and now pressure is being applied to kids not to transfer out. Time for big change in Wellston didn't realize how low it had fallen.

NY doesn't have anything to do with this thread!
The Nelsonville Buckeyes have never existed though......
The Nelsonville Greyhounds haven't played a game since the 60's.The Nelsonville-York Buckeye do have a proud tradition of beat the Yellow Rockets like a drum!
Re: wellston rocket football program
The rockets are in self destruct mode and counting down and mission control has sabotaged the whole thing. Clean house from top down
