Tough tough loss again. Kids played hard. Could have easily went to OT again had a bad snap on the VIKES second pat not have been errant. The weather played its part there. Also on the throw on the ensuing 2 point conversion. Hats off to Alexander on a great game that could have went either way. As far as all the other posts go my opinion is this. VC football has bigger issues than the head coach. It is culture. It is economics. It is the difference in kids these days. It is the difference in parents as well. There is very little industry here which means people are leaving here. Enrollment in the school system is down 100 kids this year compared to last. We are among the poorest counties in the state. All of these issues and more factor in to our Fall Friday night woes. It is sad to read that anyone feels that a coach by his self can beat all those factors. In my opinion what we need is consistency not constant change. We need to understand that talent runs in cycles and is more evident in a sport like football. We as parents need to be more like our parents and support our school officials and coaches instead of everytime little Johnny or Cindy comes home mad at a teacher or a coach we take a trip to the principals office or schoolboard. We are truley a NOW society and generation. It sad. I hope that the Vikes can get a few wins and that the school system keeps their coach. I also hope that the talent we have coming up sticks together and the community helps our coaches by encouraging these kids to do just that no matter their personal feelings. We do have some talent coming up. We lost on Friday but I hear the JV did very we'll Saturday. Keep our coach. Support our teams kids and coaches. Just my opinion.

I agree transplant it was a good game ... Gotta tell ya getting down by 13 in first half to VC on there homecoming
Had me quite worried. We have had to rally from behind in a couple games now and I'm very proud of our boys for not
Giving up and playing till the last whistle. VC IMO after watching them needs to open up the play book a little more
They have the talent and I know the ousley kid is a beast and the ball was wet in the game, but I think you guys should throw more. Coaching seemed fine the players played with heart .. And for what it's worth my kid told me they hit as hard
As anyone they have played including Athens ...
Goodluck Vikings the rest of season.

Was away from a computer all weekend.

Really good high school football game in McArthur Friday night.

#33 (Ousley, I think) for VC is the real deal. Tremendous linebacker. In the first half Alexander couldn't block him. Was in on every play it felt like.

I though the Spartans were in trouble when they didn't punch it in when they had first and goal in the second half. Defense came up big for the red and black.

You can tell Alexander's kids believe in the plan. They did not panic after falling behind 13-0.

Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.

Hope you are right Hitman. I always appreciate your opinions, open mindedness, and compassion. Your Spartans have had some rough years too and you always stay positive and support your teams, coaches, and your community. Good luck the rest of the way. I will be rooting for Ole Sparty.

He has a great working relationship with the current AD and together, they have tried to address some of these cultural issues. However, for a lack of a better term and without getting to personal, we are lacking in several areas of resources. I am older than most of you, well, I know I am older than Dundas anyways, I am telling you, changing coaches is not the answer. Besides, who would want this job? A seasoned, proven winner? No, I don't think so. I wish I was more optimistic.
Well put M*A*S*H man your spot on, what these coaches have to do is make sure these kids are participating in all sports and improving their running, hand eye coordination, knowledge of the sport they are playing and how to compete. Most or your larger yet rural schools, Northwest, Vinton Co, River Valley, Fed Hocking have kids who are not participating in sports at grades 3-4 and if they do the youth programs are coached by parents from the same culture ( losing more than winning). The first thing that these parents do is get a chip on their shoulder against winning programs and teach the kids hate and drive them and they quit. Youth coaches should stress running, catching properly, weight lifting, defense andless stress on winning. If you do things properly the winning will come.

That's a great prediction shine. Especially since this game was played 7 days ago with the Spartans coming from a 13-0 deficit to win 14-13. Wake up!
