Re: Portsmouth West @ Liberty Union
West has certainly caught my attention, they have played good football the last 3 weeks.

Yes they are Oaf.The Oaf wrote:Tough loss indeed but this West team is undoubtedly heading in the right direction and will give the remaining teams on their schedule fits.
Re: Portsmouth West @ Liberty Union
West had about 150 rushing between welch and kegley, and 100 passing between Irwin and welch
15 first downs to LU's 12
Time of possession was 29min to 19min in favor of west
However west had 9 Penalties as compared to 5 for LU

You would think with a QB being a 3 year starter that the offense would be better. The lack of discipline and penalties by the team continues to be a problem.
Who is out right now for West?

The quarterback is doing fine. The offense before was nothing like this one. He is still adjusting and one of his better receivers hasn't played since Coal Grove.OSU 77 wrote:You would think with a QB being a 3 year starter that the offense would be better. This is the most disciplined West team I have seen as far as acting like men and representing the school community. They knock the other guy down, they help him up. No showmanship. They play football.
They did have some false starts and holding penalties at critical times that really hurt against LU and NC. West still doesn't have a game breaker outside of maybe Davis so it's hard to overcome mistakes when we get behind the chains.
Berry, Frasure, Reid, and Howell are still out. They will make a big difference on both sides of the ball when they come back.
West is coming together. Kids have stepped up. They are still getting used to completely new defensive and offensive systems. They are gonna make mistakes. It's just mistakes are magnified when you play good competition.

Liberty Union 13, West 7
After putting up 42 points against the Portsmouth Trojans a week ago, the West Senators struggled to get their offense going in a 13-7 road loss to Liberty Union.
Trevar Welch was the bright spot in the West offense, as he picked up 97 rushing yards on 23 carries. He also threw the Senator’s lone touchdown, a 28-yard pass to Michael Davis on a third-quarter halfback pass. Quarterback Steven Irwin finished the night 7-17 for 60 yards.
Josh Davis led a solid defensive effort from West with 12 total tackles, but the Senators allowed a go-ahead touchdown to the Lions in the game’s final quarter.
West will be back in action next week at home against Rock HIll.
1 2 3 4 Final
West 0 0 7 0 7

Found Portsmouth Daily TImes online. I really hope the West senators have great success come league play. And get healthy.

Hey man, you are always telling us how they think, what they think and correcting everything that might be a little controversial with your spin. Who else knows what all the coaches think? Then a little something gets said and you start criticizing your past staff, which is classless in itself. Get real man. Just pointing out the obvious.

Yea really where is endzone warrior when you need him? :122249 :122245
Re: Portsmouth West @ Liberty Union
Did you criticize the past staff? No
You have an obvious vendetta against the current West staff. And I've told you multiple multiple times I am not on it. But if you want to believe it so be it.
Being positive. If that's spinning then whatever. I'm no different now then I was a year ago. It was just a lot more difficult a year ago.

Where did I criticize ANY staff at West other than in regards to dumping a team the end of July? or boasting? No where do I criticize either the prior staff or this one on the job they do as coaches on the field. No where. dont tell me how awesome you and your opinions are, as well as those of the staff. Have a little humility man. Of course you being such an expert in football you have to keep from sayin how you REALLY think it should be done! Glad you approve of the new coaching staff at West. Get some class and some humility. Get over it.Good Luck West the rest of the year. I said it before, I hope West is successful in league play.

What nephew would that be? I had two nephews that it happened to here in Portsmouth. Bad deal.local superstar wrote:Westfan I bet they are. I had a nephew that happened to his senior year.
Re: Portsmouth West @ Liberty Union
Maybe you should practice what you preach. You have done nothing but criticize the entire school system since spring. You want to call out Westfan for being a coach, when clearly you was on the previous staff. And if your only complaint with the Johnsons is that they left late, let it go it happens all the time. When Sammons took over at West he didn't start until summer and he didn't have a senior laden team. So just go and jump on the Ironton band wagon some more. West fans don't need or want your kind of support.local superstar wrote:Where did I criticize ANY staff at West other than in regards to dumping a team the end of July? or boasting? Noles you couldn't pay me enough to be on a staff in southern Ohio especially West staff! You need to call endzone warrior for help.
As far as the rest of your comments go I wasn't going to mention it BUT was told that Liberty Union had a huge sign up that said, "New Coach, No Problem" and everyone in the stands had the new coaches head on a poster raising it in the air. Proves it does sting when a coach does this to a community. It is a bad deal. On the other hand, it has to be hard to lose to a first year coach with your old team.
GOOD LUCK WEST THE REST OF THE WAY!! I will support any team I want and I do want West to be a contender in the league.
