Re: Region 21
It would be pretty close. Without going through all the teams points, if Oak Hill loses to Minford, Notre Dame, and Ironton they would be around 11.90 points. That is just a guesstimate. That would be right around the cutoff.EasternDspy wrote:You don't think Oak Hill will get in at 7 wins?

Re: Region 21
It honestly depends on what teams Oak Hill's opponents beat and how many wins they get by the end of the season. As of right now, Chesapeake may only win 3 or 4 games, which doesn't help. Alexander will probably only get 3-4 wins. Rock Hill may only get 1 win. If they beat Wellston, that would help. Wellston should win 4 games. Sciotoville may not win a game this year, let's hope that's not the case for Oak Hill. If they beat Minford, that would REALLY help. Even if Minford goes 9-1 to 8-2, they may not even make it into the playoffs in their respective region. Beating Notre Dame would substantially help Oak Hill's chances of making it in. Symmes Valley, if Oak Hill beats them, will garner needed points. Ironton, being realistic here, will garner points off of Oak Hill, which may help them a lot as well. Oak Hill will need help at 7 wins. However, if they get 8 or more wins, they are most likely in.

Re: Region 21
To be honest the last couple playoff spots will be decided by the 6 or 7 win team that pulls the biggest upset.
Re: Region 21
So now that we are getting a feel for the teams in are region do you think any of them has a chance at a state title?

Re: Region 21
I would doubt a 5-5 Bellaire could get in. Probably not enough second level points from Buckeye Local or John Marshall. 6-4 with a win from any of St.C, Indian Creek or Ferry probably make it. Union Local , Edison and Harrison Central would give Bellaire solid points.
Make it or not, I would hate to see Bellaire "back into" the playoffs, unless the defense gets much better over the remaining seven weeks of the season. Great passing game, probably one of the top 2-3 in all D6 of Ohio.

Re: Region 21
How do 8-2 PVC teams (Fort Frye, Trail, and Monroe) match up with 6 win Fredricktown or Bellaire?

Ready @ Whitehall
Northmor @ Centerburg
Chesapeake @ Valley
Oak Hill @ Wellston
Fort Frye @ Conotton Valley
Ridgewood @ Garaway
Fed Hock @ Southern
Newark Catholic @ Lakewood
Edison @ Bellaire
Cardington-Lincoln @ Fredericktown
Barnesville @ Buckeye Trail
Bexley @ Grandview Heights
Gilmour Academy @ East Knox
Monroe Central @ Caldwell
River Valley @ Nelsonville
Wahama (WV) @ Belpre
Columbus Academy @ London
New Lexington @ Crooksville
Danville @ Berne Union
Raceland (KY) @ Coal Grove
Westfall @ Huntington
River @ Magnolia (WV)
Shenandoah @ Shadyside
I don't believe we will get much from this week's slate of games. There are a few teams that, with an upset, could shake things up. If Northmor wins at Centerburg, they would have to be looked at as a contender. (I don't see that happening). Ridgewood goes to Garaway who is just 1-2 but has been pretty good over the past few years. That may tell us a little more about the Generals. Grandview Heights and Crooksville could shake things up with upsets, but I think but are pretty big underdogs. Fed Hock could make a move up the standings with a win over Southern, but I still think they would need an upset over Wahama or Trimble to make the final 8.

I believe so, too. I even think is Fed Hock gets 8 wins, that may still not be enough points to get them. I honestly believe they would have to beat Southern and beat Trimble to get into the final 8, which is nearly impossible to do. If East Knox wins their next three games (which is possible and sitting at the 14th spot) they could definitely shake things up going into the 3-4 weeks of the season.

Re: Region 21
Things are starting to take a little shape in the region. I think we are looking at the 7 winless teams being out of it. That leaves 19 teams with some chance to make a run. Here is a run down of those 19 (using current seed on Joe Eitel):
Ready - Appears to have a few good teams left (Bexley and Miami Trace) before showdown with Hartley. Expect them in top 4.
Centerburg - Looking like the real deal. Only 10 wins from last 6 teams on their schedule. Beat Freddies and 10-0 is likely and so is a top 4 spot.
Valley - 3 4-0 teams on schedule. Win over Burg or Minford and they are top 4. Lose both and home game will be tough to get
Oak Hill - Teams they have beat are a combined 2-14. Will see where this team stands this week vs. Minford. I guess 7-3 and 6-7 seed
Bellaire - Still a ton of points on the board. 5 wins will get them in so even losses to IC, St. C, and MF and they should be in the 7-8 range.
Fort Frye - A win this week and they will probably run the table. 11-29 combined record of opponents. 10-0 may still not be top 4.
Newark Catholic - Big game this week. A win and they will be close to the top 4 at the end. A loss and they will need to beat Granville to be top 4.
Crooksville- Big win over New Lex. An upset of Danville, Sheridan, or John Glenn and they will probably get in.
Ridgewood - Have some work to do after a loss to Garaway. Almost have to beat Malvern to have a chance.
Col. Academy - Looks to be a dangerous team. Beat West Jeff or Bexley and they will be right there and probably in.
Fredericktown - Appears to have righted the ship. Have to beat Centerburg or North Union. 2 losses there and they will need help.
Buckeye Trail - Going to have to pull an upset to have a chance. Not a factor.
Monroe Central - The playoffs may start this week. A win over Fort Frye and they will be in contention.
Northmor - They need to win the next two against Fredricktown and Highland. I don't see it happening. Not a factor.
Federal Hocking - Got pounded by Southern. They would have to beat Wahama and Trimble. Neither is happening. Not a factor.
Nelsonville - Beat Logan and there is a chance. If they win out until Athens they will be in the mix.
East Knox - They would need to pull 3 upsets. Not gonna happen. Not a factor.
Grandview Heights - They have started with a tough schedule but they need to pull some upsets to have a chance. Not a factor.
Belpre - Would have to beat Trimble. No chance. Not a factor.
Going through the teams, I think we are down to 13 teams for the 8 spots.

Games that will impact this region this week are:
South Point (4-0) @ Valley (4-0)
Minford (4-0) @ Oak Hill (4-0)
Fort Frye (4-0) @ Monroe Central (2-2)
Newark Catholic (3-1) @ Watkins Memorial (3-1)
Strasburg-Franklin (3-1) @ Ridgewood (2-2)
Logan (1-3) @ Nelsonville (2-2)
We reach the midway point after next week and things will really start to clear up.
