Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1
Ok the game started with a scoreless 1st qt. Fort Frye got the scoring going with Zach Prittchard FG. Then FF scored on that Pritchard run his only carry. River scored on TD pass to end the half. Then we had a 1 1/2 light delay. FF came out and hit Prittchard for his 2nd Td. Then Sapp ran in a long TD. Then FF scored on a Lang TD run. River added a FG. The they got a stop. They had a nice drive stopped on the FF 20 on 4th down with 17 seconds left. Things that caught my eye. Prittchard is a nice athlete and needs more touches. Chandler Lang played well but is still not in football shape. 2 QB system is dumb and is way 2 predictable. Fort Frye has a good group of pos Wrs Shuster, Terran Huck and Cj Huck. River dominated the middle and stuff FFs fullbacks. Rivers QB really struggled with accuracy. Sapp is a stud and one the leagues best players.

Things taken from the game:
1. River didn't dominate the offensive line of scrimmage as I had expected. Yes they ran the ball well but had to resort to counters and delayed handoffs for most of their success.
2. River failed to adjust defensively, they stopped FF in the first quarter but when FF went spread river stayed packed in allowing Lang to take the edge and hit receivers at will.
3. Lang is out of shape, he was a step slow and didn't have the burst he had last year, at full speed some of those 15 yard runs turn into touchdowns.
4. The sophomore knotts is a nice d-lineman.
5. Lang and Layton can bring the boom stock. Lol. Both had some massive hits.
6. FF receivers are good enough to win us some games. With teams respecting Lang as much as they will have to the receivers won't be game breakers but they are all good productive ball catchers.
7. Sapp is a good back.

No excuses here. QB play was the diferrence in this game. River had FF in 3rd and long repeatedly the whole game and couldnt get off the field. Only regret is on the last drive to win the game River didnt have enough time to give thier best player (Sapp) the ball and let him try to win it for them. Good luck the rest of the season Cadets.

Yea I think both have potential to get better and be decent teams in the down PVC. Flannery and River WR didn't play that well 6-17 67 yards. What was Cadets doing on there last drive 3 mins left and you pass it on 1st and 2nd down for incompletions and then run it on 3rd and long. Still need a little work on clock management. Good Luck with the Pilots the rest of the way.
