According to burg fans on here burg is the seo ivy league but everytime i look up some news in the wheelersburg village it reads like the catalytic coverter theft league. Something is not adding up. 😭
Your comment does not appear to be football related, but since you brought it up…

Wheelersburg fans aren’t saying it, the state of Ohio is.

Burg high school received 5-stars which means “significantly exceeds state standards.” Only school in SEO to achieve that.

As for Ironton, they received a whopping 2.5 stars meaning “Needs support to meet state standards.”

80% of Ohio schools received at least 3 stars. Ironton high school in the bottom 20% :(
Also read about Ironton and burg having very similar graduation rates.

Then i read about how the majority of wheelersburg residents, much like Ironton residents, are dependent on jobs outside of wheelersburg. All that academic prowess and still havent been able to cultivate any self reliance.

Graduation rates? LOL!! If you have a pulse, you get a diploma from Ironton! Hence why they are 2.5 Star rated.

Even worse, Ironton spends $18MM or $11k per student to get these horrible results. Burg spends around $9k per student!

As typical for Ironton, “doing less with more…”

So all those recruiters just bought into "hype" and didnt use any critical thinking skills when deciding who to recruit? What metrics did you use to reach that conclusion?
lol um how about none of these kids since Pendleton has been there have played ANY meaningful snaps at the P5 level? Playing time at the P5 level is a pretty good metric of P5 talent if you ask me.
Gage Salyers played a good bit early in his career at Youngstown State.

I’m willing to bet Reid Carrico plays a lot at WVU.

The others are in the 2023 class and they are freshman.

Your argument just makes Pendleton look like a better coach. Which way you going to have it? He has all this D1 talent and can’t win it all or none of these kids can play at that level and to make the state championship game half the years he’s been there? 3 out of 6???
Wheelersburg won their state championship with one true D1 talent. He chose basketball but could of been D1 football. So it is possible. Kirtland does it all the time without D1 talent. Regardless, Pendleton's success is definitely related to the amount of transfers he has brought in.

All these D1s and none of them has played much at next level🤷‍♂️. He has the same type of kids as Wheelersburg does. They are Southern Ohio kids that are being pushed to achieve more. PERIOD. What happens this year if you suffer another loss to Ironton? Pendleton will then double up Woodward head to head?

The kids that came from Ashland were not southern Ohio kids. The Pittman kid last year was an absolute stud at linebacker. The defensive end from Ashland that played on state team was an absolute stud. Pendletons success has been built on transfers. Burg would have been hard to beat too if you flipped rosters. Ironton does have some homegrown talent for sure but add those transfers and you’re a much stronger team.

Fact is most of the guys that have went D1 are Walking on. The “Offers” are PWO Offers.
And it’s obvious with their play.

Most of their D1 guys don’t dominate individually at the D5 level. Do you really believe they are being offered D1 Scholarships?

Fact is Perkins and Keyes were both scholarship players when they signed at UC and Wake Forest. They were in the recruiting rankings for that class. They then left the program and entered the portal for different reasons and college programs at same level aren’t going to scholarship an unproven freshman with only one semester under his belt. So both got PWO opportunities elsewhere. THAT’S THE TRUTH. Quit trying to twist it to fit your narrative. Do you also believe Terry is walking on at ND or Carrico was a walk on. Carter at UC???

Pittman never was a defensive player at Ashland. I watched quite a few of he and his brothers games. He left Ashland cause he got past up at WR and Ashland committed to going young and developing. Had like 8 catches his sophomore season at Ashland. The DE on state team was from South Point originally and went to SP most of his life. He has an unusual circumstance that forced him to move to Ironton his senior year. So before you speak you may want to do some research.

Completely agree. These guys are very talented and worthy of D1 scholarships and recognition.

The problem is: how can Ironton have such talent yet not win in D5? No school at that level comes close to matching IHS in talent.

So is coaching the problem? Is it an X’s and O’s problem? An inability to motivate problem? Etc?

Maybe you should research. Jones played two seasons at Ashland. Not in southern Ohio. And Pittman did play linebacker for Ironton.

Honestly it doesn't matter where they come from. Does Ironton have the same wins last year without Patterson, Copas, Pittman, Thacker, Hart, Jenkins, Roach, Sturgill? All of those kids played somewhere else prior to coming to Ironton.

I don't understand why some Ironton fans can't see that increased talent produces increased wins.

Yes. Do you know why he had to leave Ashland? Did you know while attending Ashland in HS he lived in South Point, where he was born and raised. Need to learn the actual story behind the young man before you speak on it.

Again. Does it matter? If it benefited him going to Ironton then that’s great.

But he’s not the only transfer. It doesn’t change that him and many others have made Ironton be more successful and their wins are translated by it. It needs to be acknowledged.

Burg basketball benefited from lattimore this year. It is what it is. There’s no difference.

Holden wasnt recruited very heavily in either.sport nor was he a ranked recruit in either sport.

Carrico
Carter
Perkins
Keyes
And now Terry and Johson are all higher rated and more sought after than Holden ended up being in either sport.

Ive watched burg basketball. Superior in what world? In the no above the rim stumpy dumpy unathletic suburban children world maybe. 😭 You should travel up my way ill show ya a cpl Maryland and DC and Va high school basketball teams so ya can see what having guys who dont need a head start run to play above the rim looks like. 😭😭

That burg and seo hoops looks like they should still be playing in short shorts with a peach basket. Lmao

Yet Holden is the only one on the list to get any meaningful D1 playing time, and is the only one to win a state title in high school.

All of those higher rankings haven’t done anything to put IHS on top, and those higher rankings have not resulted in success at the next level.
