Marietta and Point Pleasant are reaching for their ball points and Parkersburg South is hoping their ball point has enough ink.

I still Gallia may make the move to the OVC if the SEOAL don't decide something quick

You would like that, huh?

No way that Gallia Academy joins the TVC, if the SEOAL does fold(which I don't believe will happen), it will be the OVC.

In reality Orange and Brown is "HOPING" the SEOAL folds so that his beloved Buckeyes can get away from the Athens Bulldogs.

The TVC teams have SERIOUS buyers remorse over adding Athens and now are desperate to do something about it. They cannot kick Athens out, so their only hope is to add big school teams to create a new division for Athens to play in.

Not true at all.
I like playing Athens in all sports.
Nelsonville-York would play Athens no matter what the alignment of the TVC is.
You know better than to make a statement like that!

Old news and after the bullpuppies have dominated most all sports, I believe most TVC Ohio which they never voted them into the TVC Ohio. Although nobody will admit it!

You like playing Athens, yes. But not with a league title on the line. And I don't blame you. NY WILL get back on top in football, but are always going to be underdogs to Athens in pretty much every other sport when it comes to a league title.

But every time someone "re-aligns" the TVC, its always moving Athens into a new "big school" division. EVERY time. It's very telling.

Since its clear that the TVC is going to pursue expansion to force Athens into a new division, the Bulldogs should get wise and move somewhere they are wanted.

Why should Athens stay in the TVC if this is their division:

Athens
Gallipolis
Jackson
Logan
Marietta (Maybe you sub VC here)
Warren

You're essentially playing the SEOAL, but when it comes to vote on expansion/realignment, you're 1 of 20 when it comes to votes. Just look at the mess moving River Valley to the Ohio Division has made.

If Athens comes back to the SEOAL, they're in a league with the same teams but you're vote is 1 of 6. That's a much higher percent.

Gentlemen, could someone please explain to me why the TVC would add teams, and then split into 3 divisions? 3 divisions of
6 teams for instance means that you are looking for 5 non-league games every year and don't start with that cross division games bull.
When the TVC first split, there was an agreement (but not put on paper) that if a league team needed a game they could/would
play a cross division game. That hasn't happened in most situations. I said it on an earlier thread . . . the TVC will NOT ADD
Jackson, Gallia, or Logan. If no one comes to the SEOAL, it will be gone in 2-3 years.

I agree. Adding a third division to the TVC would be a mistake.

As long as Gallipolis, Jackson, and Logan stick together the SEOAL will survive, regardless of new teams coming in.

Maybe if the TVC adds a third division the SEOAL will be the beneficiary of the TVC's collapse and be able to take the teams who want out of a crowded TVC.

Portsmouth was a member of the Greater Ohio League for almost 40 years......up until the mid 70's. When the league finally disbanded, only Portsmouth, Lima, and Springfield South were the remaining members. Middletown and Hamilton had left the league almost a decade earlier. It's certainly possible for the SEOAL to survive with just 3 teams, but I would think that football scheduling would present some problems, especially from games 5-10. Portsmouth was an independent from the mid 90's to joining the SEOAL in 2007, and football scheduling was interesting to say the least. We had one game in particular at Harrison Central, which is farther away than Steubenville.

I hope the SEOAL survives, but it seems like there's little interest by other SE District schools to join........but with Portsmouth, Ironton, and Chillicothe having joined other leagues, travel should not be an issue any longer. Athens and Marietta would be great fits for the SEOAL, based on school size and competitive ability. Bringing those 2 schools in would give the SEOAL the "original" 6 members before the ill-fated expansion occurred in 2007.

I've said before that I watched the old Steel Valley Conference for 10 years when all they had left was Warren Harding, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Youngstown Ursuline. That was after Boardman and Fitch, the last two members to leave ran to the Federal League to play Canton McKinley, GlennOak, Hoover, etc in Stark Co, an hour or more drive away when they had 10-15 minute drives before. I believe the old COL ran for years with just Upper Arlington, Lancaster, Newark and Zanesville playing. And , of course, the GOL was mentioned. I'm sure there are others.

I laugh at the "hand ringing". Marietta will be back. And I'm sure others will be interested too. Might be a very long time before the obit is written, lol

At risk of being branded a "traitor" or ostracized for agreeing with someone that the vast majority disagree with, this time I've got to agree with Paladin. The naysayers predicting the collapse of these regional leagues because one team leaves or a team declines to join another league, well, stop being silly, please. The threads earlier this fall about the demise of the PVC because River was leaving and speculation that Buckeye Trail may leave were just absolutely ludicrous. The PVL/PVC has been around for multiple decades (just like the SEOAL and TVC), and still have a strong base of schools. Paladin is right. Schools will come back to their old leagues, and others will want to join. I wouldn't write any of these SEO leagues off any time soon. :122245
