Watching burg for many years now, and it seems the last 20 years theres been a pattern.

You get about 20 to 25 freshmen. They will lose a few kids in their sophomore season. Maybe lose a couple more for junior and senior year to other activities or they transfer.

So my guess this year is they probably have 40 freshman and sophomores and about 30 jrs and seniors. I think they were tracking close to 70 this year
Good guess! They have 18 Sophomores and 20 freshman , along with 14 seniors snd 15 juniors

Here are a few numbers/stats for you: 2017 vs 1989
After week 1 this season it could increase to 0 and 11 over 4 seasons for burg.
And yet 2017 vs 1989 will stand true. And that’s what people remember.

Example: without looking it up, I have no idea who won between Burg and Ironton in 2011, but I know the years Ironton and Burg won state titles. Ten years from now, no one, except maybe you, will be talking about 2021, 2022, or 2023 Ironton/Burg games, but all of us will know each team’s last state title.
Not affiliated with either school but I remember burg winning it in 2017. I also remember what an easy path they had. No Kirtland, Coldwater, ml etc.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. Because I have argued this point before, not sure if it was you or not. But anyone who thinks that path was easy for the pirates, you either didn't watch or you don't know football. Eastwood and Madison were massive and loaded.

Burg dont need to worry about 2017. That was now almost a decade ago and since then burg has struggled vs the best teams they have played and are 1 - 9 combined vs Ironton, Jackson, and Prep over the last 3 seasons. Week 1 is two weeks away and Ironton is coming to turn burgs lights out in their own building.

Numbers are mostly even across the classes, but most of their starting skilled players juniors. And many of their backups are in the sophomore/freshman classes.

Not really sure how that affects Burg winning the title. Both of the schools you mentioned had dropped down to DVI.

Looks like they dodged Burg to me!!!

Burg is pretty beat up right now. They didn’t win Jackson game but they had better energy. Burg needs to get healthy to try to win the conference and see where they are if they get into playoffs.

They don’t give out Jackson and Ironton trophies. The SOC is still the goal then focus on playoffs.

Burg has one more tough game in Prep and if they play hard and smart they can win that game if they continue shooting themselves in the foot it could get nasty quick.
Burg will win the SOC and maybe get a home game but it will be a tough road to get there but I see no reason why they can't turn it around.

Fully healthy they could possibly give Ironton or prep a scare in the post season but unfortunately they may have lost 4 in Jackson game. This will be a long season but if they can get a SOC out of it, I think that’s a great season considering

So thats what the Burg program has fallen to? Winning the SOC is now considered a great season?

Watching Harvest Prep against Ashland... Ashland scored the first 10 points then Harvest Prep turned on the accelerator and scored 12 points in under 2 minutes and later after the Lightning delay Prep won 26 to 10.

Burg is gonna have to play Lights out to keep up with Prep.. their D Line is stout. And they're just an all around loaded team.

Long time SOC follower here. You can take or leave my outsider POV.

The ‘culture’ is in trouble. I knew it several years ago (the last time Minford was pretty good) and the pirate faithful were celebrating that win like it meant something. I’m used to them expecting to beat good Minford teams and not being all that excited when they did.

Another example that comes from Wheelersburg people.

A few years ago a number of players got busted trying to purchase alcohol by the Ohio alcohol control investigators. Of course that’s a ‘violation of team rules’. But, these were integral parts of the team, so nothing was done.

Have all the leadership breakfasts you want, but if the person in charge isn’t enforcing standards none of it matters.

Problem you have is now the HC is AD and Assistant Principal. Sure you’ll probably waltz through a below average SOC this year unscathed, but the problems are evident and not going away.

The karma for yappin about "superior coaching & culture" and whining about transfers is real. "Homegrown" burg is a dumpster fire. Could not happen to be a better fanbase. Lmao
