Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Easy travel and all teams could make playoffs with the new format. Good gate $$$$
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Was told Symmes Valley was trying to schedule oak hill and rock hill next year. Already play Peake so that would be sweet

Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Looks good. South Point voted against talking to SOC, so let them stay with the big boys. Don’t know if Symmes Valley would want to leave SOC I, but Oak Hill would definitely be interested in leaving SOC II.*BigBoneJerome wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 1:22 pm OVC needs to just go after this. Make below football and combine rest for all sports. Would making scheduling easy
1 Ironton
2 Portsmouth
3 Fairland
4 Gallia
5 south point
1 oak hill
2 rock hill
3 coal grove
4 Symmes valley
5 Chesapeake
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Replace Symmes Valley with River Valley and you got a winner. Not sure either them or Oak Hill would be interested in a setup like this though. Symmes Valley is too small for the OVC.
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
If it’s the small version Symmes valley will compete and win it some in football. They will play 3 of the 5 soon anyway

Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
If I'm not mistaken, Symmes Valley and Oak Hill played each other maybe 10/12 years ago.
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
1.Hey, this is pretty good, but symmes valley cant compete in the ovc. Their football series with chesapeake proves that. Its probably 17-3 in the last 20 years. Chesapeake got last place this year and beat them 42-6.BigBoneJerome wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 1:22 pm OVC needs to just go after this. Make below football and combine rest for all sports. 1 Ironton

3 Fairland
4 Gallia
5 south point
1 oak hill
2 rock hill
3 coal grove
4 Symmes valley
5 Chesapeake
2.In this scenario, chesapeake would be the 5th largest school.
3.Having 18 conference games in all other sports would be doable but tough. Fairland in basketball for example would suffer because a weak conference schedule and only have 4 non conference games.
4.River valley, even though bigger that SV, is just terrible at most sports, but they may struggle no matter where they go.
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Symmes Valley would compete most years. Worst case they lose all 4 games. It will help them be playoff ready in the small division. They could still schedule small non conference games which would help the OVC schools who beat them.

Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Im not sure going 5-35 every decade in football for your conference is what you want. You at least want the chance to win a championship which they do in the SOC 1 when NW leaves next year.
This scenario is identical to SP or Chesapeake in the big division. Zero chance of ever winning a championship.

When youre talking football yes you are right. But all other sports they compete. SOC 2 does not have that.goUK wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:17 pm Im not sure going 5-35 every decade in football for your conference is what you want. Wheelersburg was in the District Finals in just about every sport this past fall, winning 3 or 4 and going to Regionals. Again, this is no fault of their own. They bring it in everything. For Majority of SOC teams competing against them it is basically a NO WIN Situation. Congrats to Wburg for being so dominate. Just be nice to see a more even playing field for the bottom SOC 2 schools.
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
SV cant compete with SP, Chesapeake or CG in boys basketball no way. And if they have to play thie big schools in other sports!!! West just beat wheelersburg lol. And wheelersburg has nothing to do with the OVC in this situation.baseball16 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 2:05 pmWhen youre talking football yes you are right. But all other sports they compete. Sv would do just fine. If OVC doesn’t try it’s going to be Symmes valley, oak hill, rock hill northwest valley coal grove and Chesapeake anyway

Oh, My bad, I thought the topic started was OVC and SOC Merge. So I guess it would have some conversation into the topic about Burg.goUK wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 9:51 pmSV cant compete with SP, Chesapeake or CG in boys basketball no way. My argument continues to be Ironton only Wins in Football. They don't dominate any other sport. Wheelersburg pretty much dominates in all the sports in the SOC. Yes, they lost to West in football but they finish first or second year in and year out in everything. Again, it's no fault of their own, it's just tough for teams like NW , Oak Hill, Minford and Valley to put a competitive product on the Field, Hardwood, Golf Course, Tennis Court , etc..

Would this be for 2023-24 school year, or 2024-25? I starting to get my hopes up that this finally happens!*Sonny Weaver wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 10:04 pm Hearing tonight that it’s finally happening. Merger of all sports EXCEPT football is official. Football still in the works
Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
Heard merger of just football. Three divisions. But still not final; another meeting is planned to discuss.Sonny Weaver wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 10:04 pm Hearing tonight that it’s finally happening. Merger of all sports EXCEPT football is official. Football still in the works

Re: OVC & SOC Merge Talk
hard to believe this
Coal grove is trying hard to get rid of Ironton Rock Hill isn't far behind.
You truly think Wheelersburg for the next 4-5 years is going to take a butt whipping by Ironton in football and you believe Portsmouth is in on this,
And you truly believe Gallia and Fairland looks to the extra travel now involved.
Why would either league give up their identity for a super conference it makes no sense at all.

I thought Ironton wasn’t a part of the equation at all.fielddaddy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:49 pm hard to believe this
