I still just cannot believe Meigs only won 6 ballgames. Maybe it's just me but when a team with that much talent barely finishes over .500, there's gotta be a problem somewhere.

Let me say something about Cornelius English. Originally I thought he was just a very finesse runner....... Wrong :!:

NY was extremely physical with him and he was physical right back.

He is a complete running back and has had a wonderful season for the Marauders.

Anyone know if Corndog will be playing in college? What about Story? The only Marauder that I know of for sure that has been entertaining college offers is Cassidy Willford, but surely there are schools looking at English and Story.

But I have no respect for the Meigs coaches for leaving most your starters in the whole game... even when up by 30 with just few minutes to go. Belpre threw in the towel and had what was basically a freshmen team in there on both sides. Lot of class there Meigs coaches.

Belpre you had a great season... no one thought you could do it.. Co-TVC Champs !!!

Meigs had the ball deep in Belpre territory late in the game. It was something around 3:20 left when Meigs started taking a knee because I remember thinking we cannot run this much time off. Sure enough BHS got the ball back. If you want to accuse Meigs of no class, do so because they are trying to pass into the endzone, trying to score on a trick play, trying anything to continue to score points. But not when our Seniors are out there taking a knee. I thought contrary to what you said our Coaches showed alot of class. I can assure you if Mike Chancey is quoted in our local paper, he will say something good and positive about Belpre. Belpre had a great season and the Meigs faithful will be watching and pulling for you should you make the playoffs. Congrats on your TVC title.

First, congrats to the Meigs coaches and players on a well played game. Meigs just had to much English on the ball tonight. From what I saw from him is what a coach dreams about getting from his runners. He hit the holes. When there wasn't a hole, he made one. When he was getting tackled, his legs were still moving and when he was about to get hit, he hit back. One of the best running performances that I have every witnessed out of a TVC running back, even better then Roush burning Belpre several years back.

Second, a big thank you to coach Shriver and his Belpre Golden Eagles! Who would have thought the season turning out the way it did. Curt was named coach 2 weeks before practice and was behind the 8 ball from day one.

I know it is disappointing to lose against Meigs and not get into the playoffs, but what a great season that it was. A fine 7-3 record when I thought if we win 2, that would be good, all things considered.

Congrats to Belpre on their first TVC title in football since 1988. Alot of pride was restored back into the program this season. Hopefully, we will have enough boys out next year to field a JV team. Belpre finished the year with 21 dressed players. Thanks to all the boys for their efforts. Thanks to the seniors and their hard work the past 4 years.

Great season Belpre!!!

I am an outsider in this discussion and all I can tell you is that I have never seen anything but CLASS out of Coach Chauncey and his staff.

His dad was a class coach, and he is a class coach.

I really don't see him as the type of guy to run up the score. It is the last game for the Seniors, and their is an expectation that they might play more snaps than usual.

I can understand your frustration but I think you need to look at Chauncey as a class guy who wanted to let his Seniors end their careers on the field.

buckfan84...

Chris Breman has to get his material from somewhere.... ;-)

Plus, a game of snooker now and then is a good thing.

Mister B-

I am not suprised that you recognize the class of Coach Chauncey because you and your fellow supporters from Belpre have showed a lot of class on this web-site all year long.

I have really enjoyed posting with you guys the last several weeks.

Congratulations on a great season. I think most of us would agree that your Eagles shocked a lot of people this season.

coach Chauncey has alot of class, just like his dad.

He could have easily not taken a knee with 2 minutes to go and added another touchdown, but chose not to.

You never know when somewhere down the road, the shoe might be on the other foot.

I have enjoyed the posts the past couple of weeks myself. Looking forward to next years game with the Buckeyes in Belpre. It should be a good one and should have a lot to say about who will win the title.

Agreed. This years CO-Championship and the Belpre win should go a long way to re-fueling a once potent rivalry.

I'll be honest, this will be THE game that I am circling on my calendar right now (we play 3 other county teams; 2 of which are in our league) but this one will be the biggest of the year.

Here we are just hours after finishing 2007 and we are already begining the 2008 threads

Just how did Meigs score all those points? Belpre shut out VC and hold NY to 6. Both teams have potent offenses. How does a team playing for an outright title and with the defensive numbers they have put up all year give up 42 points?

Congrats to NY and Belpre for their co-championships.

English was allowed to break tackles all night and when Meigs had to pass Story hit his receivers who were wide open most of the night. Belpre stopped them on their 1st series and immediately broke a 40 yard run down to their 20 but could not score and ended up missing a field goal. After that it seemed that they lost all momentum and English ran well and Story completed a long pass to a wide open receiver and Belpre never got anything going after that. I don't know if losing Radabaugh had anything to do with it or not but he surely could have made a difference on defense.Meigs dominated both sides of the ball and deserved to win last night.
We are still very proud of our Eagles for having a great 7-3 season and winning a share of the TVC-Ohio title.Congrats to Meigs on a great game and to NY for winning a share of the
title. Now lets play some Basketball.

Bucks54: First, you call me a liar when I stated that I didn't attend the NY game, now you are accusing me of letting someone else post under my username. I live in Parkersburg, and I assure you that no one but me is responsable for my posts. The father-son combo you mentioned has a completely different username. Since you joined this forum Almost all of your posts have been directed toward me or the father son, and I give them a lot of credit for defending themselves against your attacks. You should follow the example shown by the rest of the NY posters on this forum and show some class.

Congrats to all the Belpre players and coaches on an amazing season, you guys are winners. I am sure that your success will continue with Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, and track. Good job Eagles.

They always say "That's why you play the game"..... and I think a game like this just goes to prove the saying.

NY beats Meigs and Vinton- Belpre beats Vinton and NY- Vinton beats Meigs..... So naturaly you assume that Belpre will easily handle Meigs Right :?: ...... WRONG :!:

In the end Meigs not only beats Belpre but they beat them by a pretty big margin.

That is the great thing about High School football.... Just when you think you have it all figured out, someone throws you a curve ball ;-)

i can see if you wanted to leave your seniors in on offense to take a knee but leaving them in on defense against belpres "freshman team" that was bad

Again I would just have to say that being it was there last game, I have no problem playing the seniors right to the very end of the game. They put in the time a lot of years to deserve that oppurtunity.
