first off the burg did not have a great team last yr, they were very avg. they beat the teams they should have and lost to the 3 teams on their schedule that were better then them. Second when you factor most of the players returning(which is true) you should also consider they lose their qb who probably accounted for at least 75-85% of their offense last yr.

And West is always competitive but they to have lost alot of great players! Burg pretty much will have the same great team this year! So i'm very positive that Burg will definitely win the SOC trophy this fall! Not to mention that for the next 5yrs that I know of, Burg is going to just get better! They have lots and lots of talent and a great coaching staff! GO BURG!!!!!!!
Burg was not great. They lost against 3 teams that were better and won the games they should have won. They was good just not great. And yes west lost a great senior class, but return just as much. This up coming senior class beat burg 63-0 at burg when they were freshmen, and the junior classes have always been in dogfights against each other going back to the past. Im not "positive" as you say, that west will win it but I like there chances :122245

Yes Burg had a great QB last year but if im not mistaking, I think E. Miller had the most all purpose yards and he was a sophomore. I do remember when wests freshman boys beat Burgs freshman team, but I didnt think Burg had too many juniors on the team last year anyways? Mostly sophomores! West was pretty good last year and i was really proud of Burgs very young team competing against them the first 2 quarters! 1 or 2 players dont make a full football team! Now that Shears is gone, Burg will have sombody else play in that possition that will play and work together to win the SOC this fall! This isnt JUST that old freshman team that west beat a few years ago, this is a group of sophomores, juniors, and a few seniors that are going to have a great year! :-D If Burg can beat the 2 tougher opponents this year, they could go undefeated! I think West should be right behind Burg, then its up in the air from there???? IMO Maybe...... Minford, Waverly, Northwest, and Valley, will all tie for third place? LOL

Thanks! I wasn't for sure? I'm still positive that Burg will win the SOC. Should be a good season for a few teams!

Northwest takes the SOC this year, hands down. They recruited a guy named Dick Trickle and he is going to lay the wood on some people this year. Break out the brooms because Northwest isn't losing and SOC game this year, and will outscore everyone by a combined score of 350-0. This means they will outscore each opponent 70-0 each game!!!! 10-0 State Champs baby!!!! Ain't no neon in these veins!!

A competitive game in the first 2 quarters shouldnt be surprising when west and burg play, it's a huge rivalry and we all know those boys are gonna give it there all. I think 40-14 says enough though. Yes that was last year but pretty much every up coming seniors have started since they was sophomores and then even some up coming juniors started this season also.

True! But west played mostly their great senior team against Burgs very young team. now that Burg has got that much more experienced i look for the West/Burg to be one of the best! With of course Burg winning this year!

Burg very well could win but saying "of course" they will win is probably being a little too confident. That's ok though if you like eating crow

i dont think anyone can say right now who will take the soc. you never know how the players progress in the off season. i would not count out valley tho. they are loosing alot of players but they have some really good players out there. when you run the spread and have there speed you can never count them out.

Burg will have a very good chance at taking the soc if they play up to theri potential. A lot of returning players just need to play every game.

Minford IMO i dont see them doing much again this year. Yes they might have experience but i just dont see them being much this year.

West IMO has the greater chance of taking the SODC this year. They have multiple 3 year players, big strong guys upfron againk and will also be very smart on the field.

What are your thoughts on this years SOC :?:
I pick west for the 2012 season... Meeker, frye, crace, and bricker I see a 4 headed monster in the back field this year and they all will block for each other. They will also come up and hit you in the mouth!! Not to mention the big strong o-line they will be running behind!!! 10-0 season no doubt

Valley may have lost some players. But until somebody beats them they are the Champs.

Think West is the team to beat. Burg has a young team but seems to always contend. Valley lost some key players so will be interesting to see how puzzle comes together. Minford may surprise some people with incoming freshmen qb.

Valley will compete....not saying they will win the whole thing, but they'll be right there.

Who is the freshman qb? Is it Michael Collins?
