Re: 2009 Warren Football
I don't know anything about Warren football, but I do know they seem to be getting better.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
I at least know enough about Warren football to know that it is TimberMAN and not TimberLAKE. Did we pick anyone up in the offseason? Any transfers or new-bes?

Re: 2009 Warren Football
to summarize:
we've picked up seniors-to-be jordan coffman and possibly ryan kemper, who could both compete for starting WR or SE positions. We've also added senior-to-be Jon starner as our kicker, which is good news.
The qb position will gain some depth with freshmen leffingwell
And the underclass O-linemen need to hit the weight room all year long!

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Harris and Coffman would be a nice tandem outside.
The more that play, the more options we have.
I watched Coffman catch a ball the other day, if he can catch from Clay like that, he'll be an excellent piece in the puzzle. He's a natural athlete with a drive for real competition that you can't find in golf, no matter how hard you try. And he has a passion that few other athletes can match.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Venham couldnt play running back. He's not physical enough.
What's up with the seniors suddenly pouring in as soon as the team starts to improve? Good to hear that Warren is still capable of getting its best athletes out for sports, but does anyone actually think these two new seniors will stick with it?

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Maybe the schedule will get this thread moving.
Warren Warriors 09 Varsity Football
08-28: at Belpre
09-04: MORGAN
09-11: at Pburg South
09-18: MARIETTA
09-25: POINT PLEASANT
10-02: at Meigs
10-09: at Portsmouth
10-16: at Logan (for the third consecutive season)
10-23: CHILLICOTHE
10-30: IRONTON (their final SEOAL football game)
Notes:
5 Home, 5 Away
Only 5 SEOAL games...that seems awkward
Picked up Morgan to replace Zanesville.
Another 3 game away stretch, but at least we have the two home games to close this year.
All 3 SEOAL playoff teams in final 3 weeks for 2nd consecutive years

Re: 2009 Warren Football
Warren should be improved next year. Having Pifer back will be a big help. Venham is a physical player but I don't think running back would be his best position. He did a good job at tight end from what I saw, big, strong and some good hands.
Only time will tell who the players are for next year. A lot of water has to go under the bridge between now and the first practice.

Re: 2009 Warren Football
He would get two choices. Play the position is best for the team or not play at all. I don't care what he wants to do. That's the problem with this program. Too many kids feel they can call their own shots. If they want to be an individual standout, then run XC or play golf. This kind of crap is like a bad disease without a cure. Maybe someone needs to set him down and explain to him, and others, that it takes all eleven. If this doesn't work, then maybe he needs a trip to the woodshed. Either way, this frame of mind is the majority and will only continue to spread until someone is willing to be politically incorrect and change it. Good luck to those try.

First, no reason to diss the other sports, Warren is very successful in golf and our Cross team is the reigning league champ (takes more than an individual to do that). Individual honors don't mean more or less than team honors.
Grant will play (he could be a D1 punter if he wanted to), but if he doesnt want to block, he's not going to. Grant is a better wideout than TE, and if he wants to be utilized at SE, then he'll end up there. He loves football, doesn't think he's better than everyone else, but Grant will end up being utilized where he wants to be. He's a better receiver than blocker. 'nuff said.
