Re: WK9 Waverly (7-1) @ Minford (5-3)
The emotion of the great season run beings to wear off and ends tonight with a Minford win, maybe by more than 1 score.

Minford is more suited player wise to line up and play power football in the mud then Waverly's finesse personnel. The rain will move out well before game time, but the field will still be wet. This could effect the passing game once the balls hit the ground a few times, even when bringing in a new ball each play.
Minford's field will hold up, but it will be wet and it will slow each team down.
To answer your question Oaf, Minford runs the spread but they also run a power I. They run between the tackles out of the spread (sometimes too much) so running the ball shouldnt be a problem.
Minford doesnt really get a great push up front but they have backs that run hard. I would have to think Compton will get 25 carries in this game, if not 30.
Funny things happen on a wet field. Fumbles, players slip and miss tackles, etc. etc. I think Waverly is still a favorite but Minford needs to come out playing hard every play and leave it all on the field. If they do, they come out with a much needed win.

Without Harris they are a different team. I heard it's 50/50 that he playssmurray wrote:Tigers know what's at stake and are hungry....

A different team without Harris? Most definitely. But they have a had a week to practice without him and make adjustments.Bleeding Red wrote:Without Harris they are a different team. I heard it's 50/50 that he playssmurray wrote:Tigers know what's at stake and are hungry....
They were unable to make those "in game" adjustments against West and still won by two scores.
Tigers have to come out hungry and give it 100% every play.

Good luck to both teams with prayers that game is clean, close, and injury free.

Sounds like Harris was a go, had the first touchdown of the game. They lead 14-0.
Re: WK9 Waverly (7-1) @ Minford (5-3)
Harris has only been in on one or two plays on offense. He is playing defense.
Halftime: Waverly up 20-0. I don't believe Minford has a first down. We'll see what the second half holds.

I think the Tigers answered their critics tonight. And by the way, the Tigers were the way more physical team.
Cold, windy, wet muddy field - DIDN'T MATTER!
Good night throwing the ball for Howell, had to be over 200 yards and 3 TD's (Cade Marquez, Kayne Jordan, Easton Wolfe). Kritzwiser stepped up carrying the ball in place of Harris and had to be way over 100 yards and a score.
TIGER DEFENSE STEPPED UP AND STIFFLED THE MINFORD RUNNING GAME.
Tigers ought to be in the playoffs for the first time since 2007 but a vying for a possible home spot with a win at River Valley next week and a little help.

Waverly is a very good team, and they must have been still reeling from the W'burg loss when they played West. Looked like a totally different ball club tonight. Good luck in the playoffs!

Good job waverly and Minford will struggle with valley if the offense keeps being non existent against good teams.
