Week 1- Portsmouth vs Wilmington

wow the sider fans kill me!! portsmouth will find a way to beat west all u really got to do is control west,s RB and you will be good!! portsmouth didnt look great tonight but we deff didnt show all are playbook in this one!! i think we could pass all day on west!! josh is a heck of a QB and jackson and gulley are really good backs, and we got a good WR core!! i think portsmouth will beat west!!

Im glad ptown pulled this one out. watched west game and wilmington both play and I will tell you one thing that W on the helmet is a different color and the boys under them from west are more physical then them boys under the white W, running "backs" hit the hole way harder and faster, defense is faster and unload. Not saying west will win but Ptown is going to have more on their plate then they did with wilmington

I hope the team and Staff thinks like "bigline81" in that if you control #8 you control West. But I know they don't. We have so many more weapons this year on both sides of the Ball and that will let Trevon shine even more. He's a Great Back and will have a lot more help this year. I think we'll be able to keep Myers contained better than Wilmington did IMO. But we'll have to wait till Friday night to see. Sorry! Portsmouth just defeated a D II football team. I know that Portsmouth didn't play very well but, I have never seen a high school football team play a "great" game in the first week of the season. Wilmington was a very good football team and Porstmouth beat them. West is in for a surprise because Portsmouth didn't show everything in that game last night. I'm not saying Portsmouth will beat West but it will be a good game and not a blowout like some of my West side buddies are predicting.

biggdowgg! Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers about Fairland. They always play West tough.Think about it; we've opened our season with them for over 20 yrs. they not only know what we had and what we have and what we do But they have all summer to prepare for us. I just don't think Wilmington played like a Big D2 school; but it was their first Game to, I'm sure they will get better. West just runs a LOT harder and is much more Physical and Stronger. I believe west will win the Battle in the Trenches this year IMO.

Fairland also has a big line and a QB that leads his team with one heck of a arm and recievers that can get open much like ptown. Not saying they are better than wilmington but would match up for a good game with them. West on the other hand "is better than wilmington" that I would definitly say.

It's funny how the Trojans schedule up in opponent and only win by 1 score and everyone starts comparing final scores. Other then the Burg playing Ironton, most schools schedule easy no conference games. The Trojans non conference games include (Wilmington(D2), West,Burg, and Ironton). We don't have a for sure win like everyone else in the area has on their schedule. So say what you want, but the caliber teams the Trojans play will help them come playoffs. Fairland will not prepare West for the playoffs. You can't compare Fairland to Wilmington at all and to say West is so much better then Wilmington is silly to say. The Trojans beat a very physical D2 school last night and will prepare to play a very good West team this week. I seen on some posting on here that West will beat the Trojans by 40 (THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN).

The Trojans definately have a lot to work on, but they beat a pretty good team and I didn't think we played our best. Sometimes it hurts when you have that perfect game. I thought the defense played outstanding after the first quarter. Offensively, we just don't seem to be as in synch as we were at the end of last year, but I believe that is a little rust and don't take anything away from Wilmington. I thought they were solid along both lines of scrimmage and their backs ran hard. Ultimately, we had a little more speed than they did and its why we won it.

you cant ruffle my feathers my friend,I just ask a simple question, someone told me fairland was better then Wilmington, and I was simply asking someone that was actualy at the game, I find it hard to believe that fairland is better,with the problems they seem to be having "according to post on the west fairland thread about their facilitys"

Everyone keeps saying our defense isn't very good and can't stop West. They only gave up 7 points to a very solid D2 school with good athletes. Did we miss some tackle YES, did we make some mistakes YES, but we only gave up 7 pts. Offensively we will put points on the board against West, not having Compton will hurt some for West if he's not playing. I'm not into predicting scores I think this game will not be decided until the last possession. I think we will pass a little more this week, I don't think West secondary can control our receivers. We were open last year the whole game, but we played very conservative in the second half last year and did not attempt a pass in the second half last year and almost gave that game away. This year I don't think we play it that conservative again.

Ok TOTP but wouldnt Ironton be a conference game for Portsmouth? Also, Wilimington was not a very good DII school IMO.

However, I do believe that Portsmouth was holding back and playing for the W. Clifford was just experimenting with what works. But those backs for Portsmouth have got to get running downhill and not trying to make spectacular plays. With that being said I think they will fair pretty well against West. Whoever controls the line of scrimmage and makes the least mental mistakes should come out with the victory.
