6500 tickets had been sold as of the Thursday before the Ashland game.

I was told by one of the insiders that there were over 6000 presaleMalcontent wrote:Does Gallia Academy think they can bring more fans than Ashland? I was at the Ironton Ashland game and that is the most people I've seen in some time at a high school football game. Has anyone heard an attendance total? Talk about a cash cow.

Gallia fans always seems to travel well, not sure what kind of team you have this year but being 4 and 0 must be pretty good. Being a tiger fan I wish you luck ( except this weekend ) have a safe trip down and good luck to both teams. Good luck Tigers!

What time does the plane leave Gallipolis? And are there any seats left on that flight?
Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
if the presale was 6500, then i bet it was more like 8000 total, or more, there were some lines at the ticket windows before the game.

How many times have we played Ironton and been a better team and then we play ironton and they smack us around. This is kinda like the jinx john cooper had against Michigan and the jinx michigan has against Senator tressell....lol Lutz has has the Devils number for quite a many years. That being said I think Gallia will be more prepared this year since the offenses are alot more similar than in previous years. It is hard to replicate the I-town offense when your a spread team. I-town is a smash mouth in your face and down your throat running team. I would love to see the Big Blue beat em by 21 but that will never happen. I-town in the tank is pretty much unbeatable. I have seen alot of close calls there at the tank ie Justin Norths interception that was ruled out of bounds that would have give us the win but I always get excited for this game because of the rivalry. This year we get to see 2 very good teams. Lutz always has it together and coach eddy has the blue clicking on all cylinders which is a pleasant suprise from last year. This will be a statement game for both teams. Whichever team loses will not have anything to be upset about as both these teams have a good post season opportunity barring any catastrophic collapse. I hope it is an injury free ball game. Good luck to both teams and GO BIG BLUE!!!!!

Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
What an evening of high school football to look forward to. Two great southeast Ohio communities with fine sporting traditions squaring off with undefeated records. I think the worst thing that happened to Ashland last week (other than Tres Wilks and Schylar Fields) was getting the blowout win the week before over a rival. I think it took away a bit of the Tomcats mental edge, made them a bit self-satisfied and complacent. Ironton, on the other hand, was hungry about its loss to Ashland last season and its unsatisfying start to this season.
Now the shoe is on the other foot. Are the Tigers feeling fat and happy? Are the Blue Devils getting the Tigers at the right time in the schedule? The only win by Gallia in the last 15 contests was at The Tank in 2006, so Friday's venue may not be as insurmountable as some like to think. I think this game is played a lot closer than last week's, with the halftime score a bit concerning to Tiger fans. To pull the upset, Gallia will have to stand up to Ironton's brutal style of play for 4 quarters, and that is where I think Ironton ultimately prevails. 27-21 Fighting Tigers.

I have watched both Ironton and Gallia play. I was not impressed with Ironton in the Wheelersburg game, however they found a way to get the "W". Plus, you always know what you are going to get with Ironton. Gallipolis on the other hand, was very impressive as compared to last year. They played as a unit, played controlled and with few penalties, and they have brought back the smack you in the face defense that has been missing the past few years. This Gallia team is very strong and disciplined. Ironton, however, will be the one of the best teams, as usual, they face this year. I think it will be a game that goes down to the wire and I hope Gallia can pull it off, but I do know a few things for sure...
1) Gallia will have the visitor's side rocking
2) There will be some heads cracking
and 3) There will be a lot of computer points for the victor....

Tiger Town Turkey...You say they have made some improvements at The Tank. What about an expanded pressbox?

are you sure I said that.....cause I sure dont remember saying anything about improvements.......
I do wish Coke would fix the scoreboard or get a new one..........we do have a new snack stand and restrooms on the south end of the field but other than that it is still the same ol Tank......the pressbox is still the same ol pressbox.........no expansion.........unless they did it over the week-end......

The presbox is the same size. I did notice it had a new floor in it and so did the box on the home side. I also liked the fresh paint in the bathrooms and the cleaner look to the stadium. I agree with the previous poster about the scoreboard. It appears that the lights need replaced in that thing. I heard that the band boosters made a record concession stand sales. That would sound true given that I believe they had 4 concession stands open last friday.

At some point everyone should realize it's more than wins and losses; it's about getting behind our kids and letting them know how we feel about them.

Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
I mentioned earlier, and it is my only concern for the tigers....
A mental let down from the win over ashland. They just grew up overnight, after three games of finding out who plays at what position better etc. I strongly believe Lutz knew he had that room to experiment with that option, still come out with the win, and be right on time with competing with the undefeated tomcats...
The cats and the devils have similarity in their wins.. THEIR DEFENSES LET THE OPPONENETS SCORE... THIS IS NOT A GOOD SIGN FOR GALLIA.
Although I think Gallia gives Ironton a good game each time, wheter its a down year like 2006 or a state championship year. Gallia always does well, Ironton seems to struggle a bit but still win... Ironton will struggle for a quarter, the first and let gallia think they are in the game...
After halftime... Ya might as well load up those G force buses and head back on the river ride to gallia... Best of luck, no injuries to either squad...
I also agree with the Ironton x player whom commented about brown and white. Lutz is slowly implementing them into games.. as each game comes and goes, they will see more touches...
If we are gonna hang around with Jonathon alder and that commanding columbus squad.. This implementation will be vital...
BUT FIRST THINGS FIRST... PUT GALLIA AWAY... GIVE THEM A LIL DIVISION 3 HOPE, AND SEND THE G FORCE BACK TO THE BLUES LAND....
