I agree, the commentary was indeed interesting. Seems to me, they were more concerned about "what a great night it was for football" than giving details of the game. I think I heard that line atleast 4 or 5 times. And "Jonathan Royster shot out of a cannon", was a favorite line as well.

hahah yeah those were good, but my personal favorite was how interested they were in what the PHS coaches had on. At least 4 time they commented on the blue sweat suits of the Trojan coaching staff. I don't know what they were wearing to night, but the way they made it out to be sounds like we had a bunch of over grown Smurfs running up and down the side lines. Can't imagine it was worth talking about in the radio broadcast.

LOL! I know! They also seemed highly concerned when Clifford was in the middle of the huddle at one point, also pointing out his blue sweat suit! They were very panicked like they thought he was going to make a play with them! Hahaha.. I think I heard more commentating on the weather, and what the coaches were wearing and doing, than actual game info. Atleast it was entertaining, but I would have like to have heard a more informative broadcast on the actual game. Hahaha

Portsmouth in WK 7 still isn't playing their best ball. We gave up 2 easy scores to Marietta that are not acceptable in WK 7. With all the flaws this teams has shown this season they are right in the playoff hunt at 3-4. Next week vs Gallia is the biggest game of the year for the Trojans. Mason Jordan has played well, but this team will need Myers to win two out of the next 3 and get in the playoffs. With Myers I think we get at least 2 out of 3 and maybe all 3. Without Myers we may not get another win this year. Now with a solid RB in Gulley, Myers would not have to carry the ball as much. With his versatility this offense would be very deadly again. Good win tonight way to keep fighting and keep you playoff hopes alive. Practice hard and get ready to beat Gallia next week. Every week is a playoff game for you seniors play like it. GO TROJANS

I agree, there's a lot they need to improve on. Including Defense, penalties, and turnovers. 6 of Marietta's point came from a fumble by the Trojans. They can't play like they did tonight, and win the 3 remaining games they have left. I think they could win all 3 with Jordan, but they would have to play perfect in every game, their chances are significantly higher to win out with Myers. But even with Myers, they still need to play 4 good qtrs of ball in every game to have a shot at seeing week 11. But if they keep their heads in the game, and not make the mistakes like they did tonight, it's totally doable.

Go TROJANS!!!

Good to see our Trojans get a much needed win last night........Mason Jordan and Wayne Evans proved to be a big play duo for PHS, as they hooked up on a couple of TD passes.......Jon Royster and Andrew Gulley chewed up some good yards on the ground, thanks to some good holes opened up by the O-line.

NOW........IF PORTSMOUTH CAN BRING THAT KIND OF DEFENSIVE EFFORT INTO THE NEXT 3 WEEKS, THE TROJANS WILL AT LEAST STAY IN THE GAME AND POSSIBLY GIVE THEMSELVES A CHANCE TO WIN.

And whether Mason or Josh is the QB, the O-line has to push the opposing D-line off the line of scrimmage.......if they do that, we can make plays, yards, and scores, no matter who the QB is.

3 games left........we control our own destiny for the playoffs.......it's there in front of us........but next week is Gallia Academy.........get ready, Trojans, get focused, minimize mistakes, be intense........and good things will happen.

GO TROJANS!!!

I was very impressed with the freshman QB for Marietta.......that kid is going to be a fine player for the Tigers.......the halfback pass for a TD was a nice play that completely caught the Trojans off guard.

I came early for the game and took a 4 mile walk through Marietta.......it is a beautiful town with many tree-lined streets and well-maintained homes........I walked up the hill on Washington Street to Cisler Drive and saw a great view of the city........the residents should be very proud to call Marietta their home.

Being a distance runner, I can see that the city would provide some very challenging routes with the steep hills throughout town.

trojandave you are correct about our OL and DL play the are not firing out instead they are standing up and cathching everyone. I've been very disappointed in that part of this Trojan team because running the ball and stopping the ball are all about attitude. On the bright side Andrew Gulley has played outstanding since taking over the RB job. He has great RB instincts and makes the cut and hits the hole with authority. Jordan has played well and I give him a lot of credit, but he is not a dual threat like Myers is and that's a big difference. For us to win the next 3 games we will need a lot of things to happen.

1. Our OL and DL have to step up and I mean all of them step up.
2. Our D must stop a good run game.
3. Myers needs to be back.

If any of those 3 don't happen we will finish up our season against Ironton in WK 10. The points are there for us to get in the playoffs. If we beat both Gallia and Ironton I think we are in, but that's a HUGE IF. We have not played our best football yet and that's disappointing to everyone. So Seniors this is it, your in WK 2 of the playoffs now with a trip to Gallia. Buckle up the chin strap and do some work these final 3 weeks. You seniors enjoy the ride over the next 3 weeks don't take it for granted. Have fun with your teammates and soak it all in because football will never seem the same after high school. We believe in you as a team, now we need you seniors to believe in yourselves. GO TROJANS

BigTime: You make some very good points.......and I hope the Trojans take your words to heart.......we have seen our kids play some good football and at other times play some football that makes us wonder what in the world is going on. Consistently good football has been very elusive for this Trojan team that has been one of the most up and down teams I've ever seen.......and yet we still have a chance to play in week 11 despite our flaws.

By the way, I thought the Portsmouth fan turnout for Marietta was very commendable, and we were very noisy as well.......good job to our fans!!

everything has been covered..great win for the Trojans on a must win game...

I would also like to add,,,when the freshman Johnny Charles ,got to play a few plays when our backs was cramping,,,he done a great job of blocking, this kid is not afraid to stick his nose right in there and hit someone

biggdowgg i agree 100% he did a heck of a job blocking. I would have like to see him get a run or two for his efforts. I made a point to go and tell the young man nice job after the game. He didn't look nervous at all. He will be a good one before he's done.
