For a few teams, it defiantly is. Nelsonville and Monroe Central really fall into this category.EasternDspy wrote:Huge week for the region.

On the surface it seems Bellaire should have an easy time against winless Buckeye Local. After four games Badia has 928 passing yards with 13 tds and 2 int.

Re: Region 21
Looking down through the region, I think this week's Monroe Central-Fort Frye game is going to have a big impact on how this region plays out. It looks like the winner will run the table and pretty much be in the playoffs.
I think Oak Hill and the FF/MC loser will be the only teams in my "projected 13" that will lose this week, although, Newark Catholic will have their hands full and Ridgewood may be pushed by Strasburg-Franklin.
Anyone going to the FF/MC game want to send updates via text? Message me if you are interested.

Re: Region 21
Monroe Central got the win and now they are in a good position to make the playoffs. Nelsonville got beat and I think they are now not going to be a factor. I believe that the current top 12 are the only 12 that have a chance at the final 8.
Of those 12, there are some big games coming up.
Crooksville gets a visit from Philo (4-1) and this will help us see whether the Ceramics are going to be a player in the playoff race. Crooksville has big games 3 of the next 4 weeks. They should beat Morgan and 2 other wins should be enough.
Centerburg and Fredricktown is the game of the week in the region. This is the last hurdle for Centerburg to get to 9-0. If they get the win this week, that pretty much wraps up a home game for the Trojans. The Freddies have North Union on deck, so a win here is almost a must.
Fort Frye may end up behind the 8 ball if some of these teams (Fredricktown, Academy, Ridgewood) continue to win games. There are two 0-5 teams left but there are some games between defeated opponents so there will be some guaranteed points. I still think they may need some help.
It looks like Ridgewood has a decent chance to run the table. There are no posters from that area, so I am not sure how good the Generals are.
Columbus Academy will figure out there spot in the next 2 weeks. They have Whitehall this week, who while only 2-3, have 2 ot losses to Bloom Carroll and Bexley. Academy then has West Jeff and two bad teams before the finale with Bexley. If CA goes into week 10 with at least 5 wins, they will have a chance to make the final 8 with a win over Bexley.
Oak Hill's playoff chances will come down to beating Notre Dame and or Ironton. There other 3 games are almost layups, so week 7 will fill things out for the Oaks.
Bellaire has reached the grinder part of their schedule. A trip to Indian Creek is up this week and this is one is a huge one for the Big Reds. Bellaire still has St. Clairsville and Martins Ferry left, so they need a win this week to feel good as to making the playoffs. A loss here and Big Red may need some help at 5-5.
Ready, Valley, and Newark Catholic should all have fairly easy contests this week and all 3 seem to be firmly in the playoffs.

Re: Region 21
Bellaire goes to IC clearly the 'Under dog'. Bellaire has not scored a single point against IC the past two years. They need to play their best game of the season to this point to win, and the key really isn't the defense, it's the offence. After the first four games this season Bellaire was -9 in turnovers.
IMO, even if Bellaire wins this game, I highly doubt they can beat St.C..............to much speed!

Fort Frye is a lock if they win 9 games they could get in at 8.If you look most of these teams like Acad, Fredricktown, Bellaire all have uphill battles with schedules.

If Monroe Central wins this week I'll buy they will run the table. They'll have their hands full this week with Magnolia. I'm not totally confident they can go into NM and get the win; and I doubt 7 wins will get the Noles in.

7 wins and they will be in if the Cadets go 9-1. It looks like 9th place team will have 4 losses

Re: Region 21
The biggest thing to remember is this Region is not going to end up requiring a ton of points to get in from about the 5-8 spots. There are some really good teams in this Region, but not much depth. After the likes of Ready, Valley, Centerburg and Newark Catholic the strength of the rest of the Region falls off significantly. I don't anticipate this being a year where one of the lower seeds wins the Region as in a few years of the recent past (Centerburg in '05 and Liberty Union last year as 6 seeds winning for example).
The more shape the Region's playoff picture takes each week, the less impressive the depth and subsequent qualifying point total looks.

They have a very good chance with 9, but they could win 9 and not get in. Looking deeper....EasternDspy wrote:Fort Frye is a lock if they win 9 games they could get in at 8.If you look most of these teams like Acad, Fredricktown, Bellaire all have uphill battles with schedules.
At 9-1 Fort Frye is going to be around 14 points as a Harbin average.
It looks like, barring collapses, Ready, Valley, NC, and Centerburg are going to the playoffs (4 teams in)
Monroe Central, if they do win out, will be in the mid 15 range. (Possibly 5)
Oak Hill has a pretty good shot at winning out. Ironton is down and the Oaks play good enough defense to slow down ND. Even at 8 wins, Oak Hill should in the mid 15's in points. (Should be 6 teams in)
Ridgewood may be down. That is something that I am unsure of. If they win out, they will get in. If they don't, they won't. 8 wins and they are looking to be in the 15 point range.
If Columbus Academy beats either Bexley or West Jeff, they will be in the mid 14's Harbin points.
Fredericktown may be the wild card here. If they beat Centerburg and then lose to North Union, and then beat Highland, they will be in the mid 14's as a total point average.
Depending on what John Marshall (WV) does, Bellaire is going to be in the high 13's or low 14's in total points even at 5-5.
Crooksville has two huge weeks coming up. If they are able to win the next two, they will get into the 15's.
In total, if Monroe Central and Oak Hill hold serve, there will be 6 teams fighting for 2 spots.
If all of those teams start to play well, we will have a huge cluster at the end.
There are a lot of ifs, but I think at least a couple of these teams will get it together. I do feel that FF is in pretty good shape, but unless teams 5-12 in this region fall apart, the Cadets won't make it at 8-2.

Re: Region 21
7-3 (assuming the loss is this week) would get them to probably a little over 13 for a final average, and they may need some help. At that point, FF would be ahead of them and they would need Bellaire, Crooksville, Fredricktown, and Academy to all lose the toss up games on their schedule and hope that Ridgewood drops one along the way. Still possible, but MC will be sweating it if they lose this week.buckfarnesville14 wrote:How do you think a 7-3 Monroe Central team finishes?

Which ones would be total upsets?EasternDspy wrote:A lot of of those wins would be total upsets though.
I don't think Fredricktown beating Centerburg and Highland are that big of upsets. I don't know if the Freddies are back, but I don't see them huge dogs in either game.
Academy is the underdog against West Jeff but its not like they can't win. The Bexley game is a toss up. They have 2 close losses to two 5-0 teams. If they win out, I won't be surprised.
I have already said I am unsure about Ridgewood. If they win out, I don't think any of them would be upsets.
Crooksville getting on a run would probably involve some upsets.
Bellaire's case will have a lot to do with how John Marshall does.

Huge upset Tusky Central Cath 8 Ridgewood 2! First time the Saints have beat Ridgewood in 21 years. Helps Fort Frye the most.
Re: Region 21
The huge win over Indian Creek has probably solidified Bellaire into the play offs, providing they don't stumble against U.L. and Harrison Central.

Re: Region 21
This region is closing in on having its 8 teams. Here are my projections for what I think the Region will look like after week 7:
1. Ready 16.23
2. Valley 12.90
3. Centerburg 10.83
4. Newark Catholic 9.84
5. Bellaire 9.59
6. Oak Hill 7.57
7. Monroe Central 7.11
8. Fort Frye 6.81
9. Academy 6.72
I think it is down to these 9. Looking from 10 down....
Ridgewood would need to knock off Malvern this week.
Crooksville will have to beat either Danville or Sheridan.
Grandview Heights would have to beat West Jeff.
Fredericktown need to beat North Union or Highland and possibly both.
So disclaimers on the top 8. These numbers at the top take the following into account (If anyone would like a projection with any of these outcomes changed, just post and I will figure it--I kept all notes):
Ready beating Miami Trace
Bellaire losing to St. Clairsville
Newark Catholic beating Johnstown
Academy losing to West Jeff
Oak Hill beating Notre Dame
I also have my sheet for who I figured beat who, so any questions just ask.
A few what ifs:
Ready loses: 12.92
Valley loses: 10.86
Bellaire wins: 13.00
Newark Catholic loses: 7.63
Academy wins: 9.56
Oak Hill loses: 5.17
Just making a prediction, I think the current top 5 are in. I think Monroe Central and Fort Frye are in if they win out and Academy doesn't pull an upset of Bexley or West Jeff. If CA does knock off one of those 2 and Oak Hill wins out, MC and FF will be counting points in a few weeks.
