Re: Playoffs 2020 Minford 51 - 53 Piketon
A very entertaining game Saturday Nite. Great individual performances by Gullion of Piketon and Vogelsong-lewis and Pica of Minford. The Redstreaks were able to overcome a 34-14 deficit to win. Particularly in the second half, Piketon was able to take control of both lines of scrimmage. I know some people want to blame Minford but I think more credit should be given to Piketon for the comeback. Sometimes we forget that the other team also lines up 11 players.

I dont see Ruby leaving anytime soon. Why would he? The administration and board dont care about wins and losses. His wife is the AD and the nepotism continues.BondRoad Bandit wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:59 am Matiz is a great coach has been for years. As much as I think Ruby needs to go I will say this outside the 4 seniors who actually produce on both sides of the ball the cupboard is very and I mean very bare between the junior and sophomore class. Minford started 3 freshman Friday. If Ruby is gone or if they change the offensive philosophy minford will be good when this freshman class is seniors.

That seems to be the situation over the past few years and I agree.

Basketball has had its success in recent but you are right with the point you are making. All I know is minford will not be able to run the spread with the personal it has coming up. They are full of running backs type players not receiversBleeding Red wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:46 amI dont see Ruby leaving anytime soon. Why would he? Pretty much means nothing.
I know a freshman team that went undefeated and didn't get scored on all season, closes game was 30 something to nothing. They finished 5-5 as seniors.
Valley has had some bad jr.high teams that was really good in high-school.
Minford does have some good young talent right now.

Minford has some real talent in that 8th grade class (especially in basketball), but low numbers for SOC II football purposes. I look for Minford to have 2 bad seasons coming, but then a couple of good years after that.*

Yeah Bob Ashley ruined that group, similar to how Ruby will probably ruin the current group if no changes are made.BigBlueNation wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 3:19 pmPretty much means nothing.

Coaches and Athletes come and go all the time, kids are very adaptable and would adjust fine. As far as I can remember, the Junior, Sophomore and Freshman all finished 8th grade with close to .500 records. The biggest hurdle facing the Junior/Sophomore class is no daddy’s coaching, in Administration or on the School Board. They have Athletes, actually finished 5-2 in JV when they played together as Sophomores/Freshman, without any rushing threat at RB. Cupboard is plenty full, may be a different caliber of Athlete, but I bet they play better as a TEAM!BondRoad Bandit wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:59 am Matiz is a great coach has been for years. The junior class won 1 game as 8th graders and then as sophomores won 3 games on jv. Now they could prove me wrong but they just don’t have the athletes coming back to run the spread in my opinion. Now a more pro style 21 personnel type scheme could make them a lot more productive.FourEyes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:27 pmCoaches and Athletes come and go all the time, kids are very adaptable and would adjust fine. Boys Basketball has been in district play at the Convo more often than not beginning with Copley and continuing with Shoemaker, and of course John Strickland's teams in the 90s.
