Fine job by the tigers plenty of things to fine tune but not a bad win against a very respectable program. On to the shermans

A solid game by both teams, I think Waverly made to many mistakes early on and kept The Johnnies in it longer than they should've. Big second half effort from the defense and the offense just simply wore the Johnnies down. The Johnnies will have a really good season quality team played well up front in the first half just couldn't sustain the running game well enough to stay in this one.

Solid win for the Tigers. The Johnnies were really getting a nice push in the first half in the run game. I really thought it might get worse in the second half. It didn’t. The Tigers were the more physical team in the second half, and really, the better conditioned. This is a fun team to watch. Weapons everywhere on the outside, a vastly improving o-line, and the Hurd kid is going to be a dandy. Great vision and toughness and, like his older brother, always finishes runs moving the pile forward. The defense can be a little soft in the middle at times, but as we get more experience there, it will get better and better. Crabtree is an animal on D, and Morrison is nasty back like there like he’s chasing down tennis balls.

Maybe the best overall receiving core Waverly has ever had. They’ve had some dandy receivers but have they ever had 5 targets on the field at one time like this group?
Futhey, Morrison, Stulley, Crabtree, Boles
And then add in Hurd at tailback just a sophomore - he indeed will be a dandy.

It truly is a special group of receivers.

I’d be willing to say Wade is most athletic qb Waverly has had recently. Shanks and Howell were great qbs but would survey and kill you step up and sling it. Wade can step up in the pocket and can even take off with the awareness of the chains and sliding down for first downs

All 3 different QB’s.
Shanks with the biggest arm and amazed us all by playing and doing what he did with a torn ACL his entire Junior season. That kept him from any kind of scrambling or designed QB runs.
Wade may not be able to make some of the throws Haydn made but he is very patient and will pick a defense apart and while not the quickest or fastest player on the field can hurt you with his legs.
641 yards passing in two games with 7 TD’s and a rushing TD.

Waverly has been blessed with so many great receiving CORES these past 5-6 years.

2016- Cade Marquez, Kayne Jordan, Garret Moore, Faheem and Tariq Gilbert and Easton Wolf

17- Easton Wolf, Cobe Marquez, Phoenix Wolf

18- Same as 2018 but add Zeke Brown and Will Futhey as threats

19-Will Futhey, Phoenix Wolf, Penn Morrison, Mark Stulley and Zeke Brown

20- Same as above pretty much

And then the receivers they have now. All players on that list could be the man and score on any given play. Maybe I’m biased but the receiving core lately has been very impressive.

It’s really crazy that we have been able to keep reloading such great talent.

I’d have to argue that the 2018 receiving core was the best - The Wolf brothers, Cobe, Zeke and Will- all 5 went or going to college to play ball on scholarships.

Phoenix and Zeke would have been sophomores and Will a freshman. They were good but not near the threat and specimens they are/were as juniors and seniors. And remember, Phoenix missed a year and half with the broken leg.

Hard to argue the best with so many great receivers but this years 5 are very very good. They are all fast as well.
