Late breaking news out of Wheelersburg

Post by FaberGrad62 »

This just handed to me!!!!!!!!

Coach Tony Lewis has been offered the head coaching job back at his old high school in Indiana and looks to be accepting the offer as he has turned in his resignation at the Burg.

We'll be intersting on who the new hire will be.

He is resigning also. He has a son that is starting Junior high next year, so he wants to be able to watch him.

I have someone in mind, but will wait to put it on here.

What Indiana high school is Lewis from?

I noticed the thread started by reitzfan the other day about needing info about Wheelersburg. I'm somewhat familiar with Indiana Evansville Reitz, so I just wondered if there was a connection there. Reitz went 15-0 last season and won the 4A state title in Indiana.

Big loss for Wheelersburg. Coach Lewis did a great job. It will be interesting to see if they go out of house again.

White was the first choice last time but he made it known he was not interested. I doubt a div 1 state championship has changed his mind, the burg doesn't have enough money to steal him away from hilliard davidson.

What assistants on staff would be considered?

I't is true, coach Lewis told the boys today at school that he was taken the head position at his old school, hopefully they will give it to Rob Woodward.

Don't be surprised to see Larry Hall back at the helm.

His offense would be a good fit for what talent they have coming back.

I always hate to hear of a coaching change, especially for all the players that have been in the system for a couple years and that have a successful program. There is always looms the unknown of a new coach and system. Hopefully they will hire and announce the new leader soon.

Although I did not always agree with his coaching philosphy, I wish Coach Lewis the best in the future and returning to his home state of Indiana.

Yes... Rob Woodward would be a good choice. And I believe the players like him. It will be an interesting season next year for the returning players. If Woodward would get the head coaching position I would not look for big changes at Burg. The offense they currently run fits the skilled areas and speed they have.

I would think that Larry Hall or his son Andy may be canidates as well.

Just read this and I think the Burg knew that this could possibly happen someday, coach Lewis going back to his old school if they came calling.

Good luck Coach Lewis in you future endeavors.

Coach Hall would be a terrific hire. The last time I talked to him I know he said he would like to get back into coaching.

Wow, didn't see this coming especially this late in the year. Hall going back to Burg wouldn't hurt them, going to be interesting in seeing who Burg gets.

One thing for sure, he was a good coach. Good luck on getting a replacement Burg.

I think Gene Bumgarner from Unioto would be a good choice and should apply.
