Re: Northwest
the soc 2 schools i see northwest being able to compete with and maybe even beat next year are waverly and i would say oak hill but we dropped them for notre dame!
Re: Northwest
That's a good pickup for Northwest. At this point in time, it should be a competitive game for both teams.

Um....since when is Oak Hill a SOC II school? Anyway back to the topic, I could see them winning 3-4 games next season depending on the schedule....Manchester, possibly Notre Dame,Waverly(if they dont improve), and maybe Piketon

Re: Northwest
Oak Hill has never been Division II in football. Valley moved to Division II last year and then there are the three W's, Minford, and Northwest for a total of 6 teams. I would definitely chalk up Manchester and Notre Dame as wins, but that may be it. Valley will be better next year than they were this year. West and Wheelersburg won't happen and neither will Minford. Too bad for the Mohawks they weren't able to finish off Waverly this year and get that win, but next year that may be a tall task as Waverly was in a rebuilding mode this year.
Who else does Northwest have - Piketon, Symmes Valley, and East? They could possibly get one of those.
Three wins would be a step in the right direction, but those are all non-league games.
I think Coach Thompson did a very solid job this year from all I've heard and he's assembled as good a coaching staff as there is in southern Ohio. Now, it all comes down to what the kids do in the off-season and how important football is to them and their families. They need to make the sacrifices to get their football program up to where it needs to be.

Re: Northwest
I do not blame anyone for doubting that Northwest Football will not be any different than years past. However, something special happened this year with this Coaching Staff. I am sure the kids see it and will "feed" off of it. This year the Coaching Staff were willing to make changes weekly, looking for something that worked. 6-4 is a realistic goal, along with 2 wins in the conference. The 2009 Northwest Mohawks will surprise some folks! If 6-4 is wrong, it might just be because they will be better than that! After all, there seems to be more support for these kids than before, this forum is an example. When was the last time you saw anyone on here posting about Northwest Football in November?

Re: Northwest
Thanks for the Compliment, yes we have a great unique program designed by Triplett, but it wouldn't have done any good if we wouldn't made a battle everyday to see how much better we could be. I'll venture to say that Northwest has talent, they just need to win from January to July, and they could at least be a .500 ball club next year
Re: Northwest
I don't think it matters if no one shows up to lift.

Re: Northwest
I agree that the mohawks have to hit the weights hard and continue to grow after the "season". Football is a year round sport and you have to sacrifice the time you are in the four years of school to push it beyond what everyone can even imagine.

I think Northwest destroyed their chances of a consistent .500+ team when Hall left. I hope they begin winning though

i'm so tired of hearing about hall and what a great coach he is. he didnt win out at northwest get over it and when he took over a program that daryll davis built he did the same thing in the playoffs they did the year before. 10 and 0 and then got beat in the first round. maybe he just coaches good kids to good records but when a challenge comes he folds can we say that any cause so far thats the truth ive seen. lets hold off u til he wins a playoff game

Maybe you should coach northwest then If you can find a coach that can turn around the Nortwest Mohawks in around 1-2 seasons and then maintain that level of play then you would be the Football God. From what Ive heard the kids and the fans weren't into it. They weren't into someone pushing them farther than most coaches would. I don't think Northwest is ready, nor wants, to give the blood, sweat, and tears necessary to become a good program. Some friends of mine played at Northwest and from what they told me many kids just dont care anymore...they have "learned helplessness". Once things start going bad then they fall apart.
There is a reason why you keep hearing about Hall and what a great coach he is....HES A GREAT COACH!

Im not gonna argue with you about larry hall...but you need to quit saying northwest kids don't give everything and that they don't care, yeah they are bad right now...but I was a member of the team and if you ever watched a practice which im sure you didn't, I can guarantee northwest was working just as hard if not harder than any team out there....maybe your friends were lazy bums when they played for northwest, but there are kids out there giving everything they have to be better and working to not only compete but win games,a lot of them ...it just makes me sick when people say they don't want to try to be great....yes because we love going out and getting our a$$ kicked every game!

Don't shoot the messenger, geez!! I have stated numerous times that Northwest has more desire than most teams around here. I only stated what friends and family members, who all live in Northwest, have told me. I actually jave watched NW practice thank you very much and I will agree with you that they work really hard but you cannot judge how hard they work to other teams.
Look, today's fans put WAY too much blame on the coaches. They judge the coaches ability only off their winning record or lack there of. Some blame must fall on the players. People believing that a coach truly is only as good as his team is just plain stupid IMO. He can make you run drills a million times, memorize the entire playbook, and lift weights till you just want to die but if the players dont perform then in the end it doesnt even matter
Re: Northwest
Thats very true, everytime if a coach doesn't success it is always there fault, I for one have never been able to figure why they can't win games, it kind of frustrates me thinking about it. They have size, talent, but they can't seem to get it done consistently. Maybe its the offseason, maybe not...lets just hope and pray it changes
