Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
I followed the link that Joe Eitel has listed for Ironton's 2008 opponent, Mt Carmel, and he says there that this game they have this week (I know it's because it's an out of state game in this case) will not affect the outcome of Region 15. Not true with the other games though
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
Joe eitel says in R15 that it is update 7 of 8 SOOOOOOOOO there must be something that could change the rankings right now. the same 8 in R15 will be there BUT the order could change

You can look at the "Max Win Out/Min Win Out" - If the numbers are the same, that team can't get anymore points.
You can get an idea for where teams will be that way. A LOT of games are set in stone.
Logan's opponent comes down to tonights Watterson/Cardinal Mooney game.

It says that same thing on all regions though. I don't think it necessarily applies to Region 15 as all game totals are in that matter. At least, I'm thinking that. I could be wrong, of course. I know Irontonfootball.com has Westfall coming to Ironton, them guys will look pretty silly if that isn't the case

Anyway, no offense to either team but on a personal level and just for a change, I'd rather seen Meigs coming into Tank Stadium. Meigs who I might note, are making their first playoff appearance in their school's history. Congratulations Meigs

Well, it's not really the Harbin system's fault that teams play on Saturday.
If people would wait for all the games to be played it will be very clear.

I hope the smiley faces mean you are joking, especially since in Kentucky you can win one or two games in your region and still make the playoffs at 1-9 or 2-8. Now that is a joke of a playoff system. Why not just do it like basketball and let them all in then. lol

Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
Joe Eitel now has Paint Valley out and Ridgewood in at the #8 spot. He also has Johnstown Monrow in 5th, but shows them having a home game and Ready in 4th and showing them clinching a playoff spot.
1 10-0 1270 West Portsmouth Portsmouth West 22.7343 clinched #1 seed
2 9-1 1696 Wheelersburg Wheelersburg 19.7643 clinched home game
3 8-2 1084 Nelsonville Nelsonville-York 19.7000 clinched home game
4 6-2 220 Columbus Bishop Ready 18.4917 clinched playoff spot
5 8-2 794 Johnstown Johnstown-Monroe 18.4500 clinched home game
6 9-1 866 Baltimore Liberty Union 17.1000 clinched playoff spot
7 8-2 1048 Minford Minford 16.5500 clinched playoff spot
8 8-2 1300 West Lafayette Ridgewood 14.7500 clinched playoff spot

no more than the joke that is Ohio's. at least when a team goes 7-3 and better they get in the playoffs. missing the playoffs with that kind of record is the joke.and in bball we have one true champion not 5 or 6 so our basketball playoff system is better too.![]()
no matter how you look at it Ohio has the better football but the playoff system has a lot to be desired.
I've seen teams go 9-1 and miss the playoffs and there are some this year. That happens because you have a cupcake schedule or the teams you play all just have a down season. The one team I saw that went 9-1 and missed the playoffs had 6 teams on their schedule that went 3-7 or worse and two of those went 0-10. They only had two teams with winning records at 6-4 and they lost to one of them and the other two went 4-6 and 5-5. Teams like that need to either beef up their non conference schedule or get out the conference altogether if they do this consistently.
As for Kentuckys basketball tourney, I have never though it was fair to have just one state title winner. You punish the little towns who can't compete on a regular basis with the Louisvile and Lexington schools. Sure, you'll have the ocassional team from a small twon the puts together a phenomonal team and either wins it or makes it really deep, but that doesn't happen that often. I like Ohios system of giving more schools a chance to compete for a state title.

GAHS
Would you please list any undefeated Ohio High School team in 2008 that did not make the playoffs?

Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
The Harbin System rewards you for beating GOOD teams. There is little reward for beating "cupcakes". For example, the two teams that provided the best competition for the Champion Logan Chieftains also played two of the more challanging non-conference schedules.
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
Thank you for your response however like many political candidates you did not answer the question -- Name the 10 -0 teams in the State of Ohio that did not make the play offs in 2008.
What is your point? What you are really saying is SE Ohio needs to step it up.

#1 do not call me your friend I don't know you
I never said you needed to go 10 -0 to make the playoffs you eluded to that. My comment is if you scedule correctly you can make the playoffs at 5-5.
You stated "The New York Giants could play some OHSAA schools and go undefeated and not a sniff of the playoffs." My only questions was who in Ohio did not make the play offs at 10 - 0 in 2008. I alreay checked Joe Eitel before I asked the quetion. I check my facts before I raise any points.
So just exactly what is your point?

Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
Who were the non conference games that year for Gallipolis?
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
That was not my question WHO WERE GALLIPOLIS's nonleague oponents in 2003 That is the question......
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
The reason you did not host that year had nothing to do with the league. It was playing Meigs and Coalgrove that prevented Gallipolis from hosting. There is no question Gallipolis was in a very strong region that year.
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
I don't care about rivalry's or neighbors. If you want to host (which was your concern in 2003)you need to play programs that are successful year in and year out. You have to win you lost to Ironton that year. Successful programs find ways to fund travel and the gates follow.
Re: Are These Matchups Written In Stone?
I have sceduled many non league games in all sports. I don't care if two of your friends are AD's. Apparently you live in the wrong part of the state. Don't be so condescending. Scheduling quality programs takes hard work and insight. Sometimes a school system has to make sacrifices if they want to be successful. The bottom line is keep wondering why you don't host.
