Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
THEY WILL BE REALLY GOOD THIS COMING YEAR. BUT I THOUGHT THIS YEARS TEAM, HAD A REAL CHANCE AT PLAYING IN WEEK 15. BUT THATS A TOUGH TASK. ESP. IN D4. WHICH MOST EXPERTS SAY IS THE HARDEST DIV. TO WIN. I'VE HEARD THEM SAY IT FOR YEARS.

I agree with you I thought they would win 9 or 10 regular season games and then go deep into the playoffs. I don't know what the schedule looks like next year but if we have another off year there will be questions that will need to be answered within the atheltic department.

Ironton should be much inproved next year.they HAD A VERY YOUNG TEAM this year.Very few seniors. Most of the starters were juniors.Heck,we even started 4 or 5 sophomores.Winning 8 games and getting to week 12 was a testament to the coaches and the seniors and younger players. When Ironton was dominant in the 80's & 90' most of the starters were seniors, mixed in with a few juniors. This will begin again next year and continue for the forseeable future.Trust me,maturity and talent equal success,

Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
they should have another really solid team this year. i just hope we open the play book a little further. we have the athletes to do it. coach lutz will get his record this year.
Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
Ironton should do well. This group of kids are very disciplined and really respect their coaches. Go Tigers.
Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
An exciting year indeed. 6 Home games in 2009. Burg, Russell, Portsmouth, Chillicothe, Logan and Nelsonville. Short drives to Jackson, Ashland and Gallia Academy. Coach Lutz will become the winningest coach in OHSAA history and hopefully a sizeable run through the playoffs. 30 years after Ironton won a state title, could we make another run? Season's ending in 9 are typically pretty special in Ironton.
Did you know that since 1929, Ironton is 65-18-2 in years ending in "9". That includes State titles in 1979, 1989 and a runner up in 1999. 2009??????
That season ticket should be a seller!!

I was told by someone from Chilicothe that we play at Chillicothe again next year just like we played Logan at Logan the last 2 seasons. Someone correct if I'm wrong.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- man, i had not thought of that , we did make some long trips this year. and 6 home games . oh, yeah. i wish we could pay a fee, for an extra season ticket if we make the playoffs and get a home game, youi get your season seat. if not , it goes to the tiger clan, or the high school athletic budget. make it happen 85.85inside wrote:An exciting year indeed. 6 Home games in 2009. That is how it is done at Wheelersburg
Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
If it is legal with the OHSAA to have reserved seats at regional quarterfinals, i think it is a great idea. I think the money should go to the athletic department. I am sure there are other good ideas that could be implemented. 2009 would be a great year to implement such a thing. Of course if you make the playoffs, those seats revenue would go to the OHSAA, not Ironton. Ironton would only get a percentage.
I have always thought that if you warden off the reserved section and make it where you have to have a reserved seat to sit in the middle, you may get more season tickets buys.
How about a $10 extra fee to the reserved football ticket and each ticket holder can attend all the spring sports for free?
I think you could make the reserve section a bit smaller and close it off to the other sections. Then you could market some "season ticket packages", that could combine football, basketball and other sports? The more seats you sell before the season, obviously the better you are off financially.

Re: Ironton Fighting Tiger Football 2009
man i think that sounds like a great idea, the only reason i brought it up was i'd heard other schools were doing it, then i've heard other people say it's illegal. lets find out, it is certainly ethical. and for a good cause. it's hard when you have a steel knee , and a broken back. to stand in line for hours upon end to get a seat. then try to compete with a mob running up the stairs of healthy bodies still beating you to the best seats. i'd certainly do that as a long time season ticket holder, and it might entice me to more spring sports as well.

I agree Keith has alot of heart, two a days would be a heck of alot easier on them if they would get into decent shape before they start and not wait until they start and only get in decent shape.

Which Waginger kid, there are a bunch of them running around........
and if I had a daughter I would lock her up if I saw any of those young men around.......
On topic: if anyone can get it done I have a lot of confidence in 85inside's ability to get the ship back on course.....
