Add Minford to week 4 and we are in business. Great non league lineup for any county team. Any clue on week 4? I'm guessing league play starts week 5, right?

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
I watched there Freshman team play the Burg and they do have some talent coming up. They had a decent QB and there RB was amazing. He on his own almost beat the Burg. Had they given him the ball on that last two point conversion, they would have at least tied Burg, but instead they tried to throw the ball. I think I heard someone say his name was Robinson. Kid is going to be a stud if he is used right
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
The freshman team the previous year was world beaters also were they not? Two good classes in a row should bode well for the future as far as talent goes. Keep fighting Trojans! Keep positive for the kids!

Might not mean anything when they get to varsity. My brother said that he talked to guy that played for ptown. He said as 7th graders they went undefeated. As 8th graders they went undefeated. As Freshman, they might have lost one and JV, maybe one. His Junior year they went 1-9 and his Senior year they went 3-7.
What's up with that?

For the good of the P-town program, and the health of your rivalry and the SEOAL, let us hope that that pattern is changed in the near future.yabbadabbadoo wrote:buckcraze wrote:The freshman team the previous year was world beaters also were they not? With Stapleton at QB, Darion Robinson and Johnnie Charles in the backfield, 3 starters back on the oline, that will all be juniors this year, Albrecht, and Wedderbrook back I feel pretty good about what we have coming back.

Did Dickerson and Oliver play on the frosh team this year? They were gamechangers as well in pee wee/middle school.
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
PHS vs Valley if you go by ohsaa schedule, this game is at Valley on a Saturday. 25th. Could be a packed house that night.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
Ok, let’s discuss who we have coming back.
OL Alex Grashel will be a junior started every game in 2011, our best returning linemen in my opinion
OL Kyle Williams will be a junior started some last season good size
OL Nate Basham will be a junior started some last season pretty good feet
QB Cody Stapleton will be a junior saw action last season when Mason was injured, I think Cody has a huge upside and can be very successful
RB Darien Robinson will be a sophomore started some games towards the end of last season. I was very impressed with him as a freshman, true speed
RB Johnnie Charles will be a junior was a strong runner who saw time last season before injury forced him out. A healthy Charles will be a big lift to this team
WR Brandon Wederbrook will be a junior much like Charles Wederbrooks sophomore campaign was cut short due to injury. I look for be contributions from him this season as well if he can stay healthy.
WR Jacob Albrecht will be a junior, saw time last season at WR as well as in the back field as we were devastated by injury.
That’s a start give us more details about the ones I have listed and please add to the list so we can get an idea of what the 2012 edition of the Trojans will look like.

I'm pleased to see the best county schools are playing each other. This is a win win for the entire county..Keep the dollars at home in our local school districts!!Tobias wrote:All 4 SOC contests are on the road to start the season...that is tough! Ok is it just me or does this schedule not seem real smart in terms of computer points. I mean we will play the 4 best teams in the SOC, knowing they all have to play each other later and will cannibalize each other for wins, then play our SEOAL schedule when they will cannibalize each other as well. Then of course we have Ironton.
Example Wheelersburg will have 5 like opponents with us in Valley, Minford, West, Jackson, Ironton. Leaving only 4 weeks where we can get 2nd level points from them without losing them from another opponent.
Valley will have like opponents in Burg Minford and West, leaving us 6 weeks.
Minford will have like opponents in Burg Valley and West leaving us 6 weeks
West will have like opponents in Burg Valley Minford and Chillicothe leaving us only 5 weeks.
Ironton will have like opponents in Burg, and Gallipolis at least as of right now Ironton’s schedule only has 5 games so I doubt they field an 10 game schedule, lets assume they do though, and even if all are different Ironton would have 7 different opponents from us.
Logan and Warren will each play a 5 game SEOAL schedule leaving only 5 weeks each for points where they are not coming from a lie opponent
Jackson would have 4 weeks
Chillicothe will play a 5 game SEOAL schedule and also West resulting in 4 weeks
Gallipolis will be the same as Chillicothe as they play Ironton
This results in total different opportunities for points if we win every game of course of 51 and think this number is inflated some becuase Ironton will most likely not field a 10 game season.
In comparison, last year
Willington had 0 like opponents giving us 9 weeks of 2nd level points when we didn’t have to worry about them beating another team on the schedule
West only had Burg as like opponents giving us 8 weeks
Burg only had Ironton and West as like opponents giving us 7 weeks
Warren played a 5 game league schedule meaning us and 4 like opponents resulting in 5 weeks
Gallia Academy Chillicothe and Jackson played a 5 game league schedule plus Ironton meaning us and 5 like opponents and 4 weeks of not
Cincinnati Prep played 7non alike opponents although they were all D6 and yield us very little
Logan played a 5 game league schedule meaning us and 4 like opponents resulting in 5 weeks
Ironton played 4 like opponents and us, resulting in 5 weeks of different opponents
This resulted in 58 chances to gain points if we would have won each game, now I know that Valley and Minford are going to bring us more points by winning games then Cincinnati Prep would, cant say that about Wilmington though as they won 7 last year.
Now I know I didn’t go through and figure out what everything would be if team a beats team b and their division is blank or whatever, but it seems like we will have to win more games playing so many teams with like opponents then we would have in years past. I know we have played up to 4 SOC teams in a season before,( I think in 2001 it was Burg West Waverly and Minford) but that was prior to being in the SEOAL, I think the way its set up here it almost like playing in 2 leagues and they even have other cross over games.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
JUST WIN BABY!!!! The rest will take care of itself!! I think Portsmouth playing a heavy SOC II (Scioto County) schedule is a win win for all participants. The beauty of it all, we keep Scioto County money in Scioto County. You can't lose, even if you lose the game!
Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2012
I like the addition of Minford on the schedule I hate we open up with 4 road games but all local can't wait for August
