Officials for playoffs
Does anyone know how officials are selected for the playoffs?
Is it possible to see a crew from the regular season ?

Re: Officials for playoffs
No. Playoff officials in Ohio are not chosen as crews. They are taken as individuals and placed by the OHSAA to make playoff crews. You may see an individual or so you've seen in regular season if you're lucky or unlucky depending on your opinion of said official(s).childhoodmemories wrote:Does anyone know how officials are selected for the playoffs?

No crews in the playoffs. Talked to a buddy today. He is with a guy from Lancaster, one from chillicothe, and another from Columbus I think. They got their assignments this morning. He has a local team, but I'm not gonna say who.

I'm assuming you talked to the same buddy that crab_apple and I talked to a couple of weeks ago at a game. He was telling us he got a playoff game, but had no idea what division or where. I'm happy for him that he got a playoff game.Crab's brother wrote:No crews in the playoffs. Talked to a buddy today. Heard he will be at the West v/s NY game. I hope your enthusiasm doesn't mean either team will be favored by him!!!

First off I have no clue who you are and I'm not sure how you know who I am talking about. But what in my post shows any enthusiasm? I made a statement that a buddy of mine had a local game.

Ok. So, the guy asked a question and I showed how he was with other guys from the area. I mentioned that they had a local team. If that's enthusiasm, then my life is just a constant stream of enthusiasm. What a joke...

Re: Officials for playoffs
What's an "SOC Official" and how can I make sure that all the officials I know can always work SOC games? BIGHITSINC, can you help me out with that one? Also, aren't ALL the officials "OHSAA OFFICIALS"? I thought you had to be licensed through the state to officiate any games....including regular season and definitely playoff games.BIGHITSINC wrote:SOC OFFICIAL AT A SOC PLAYOFF GAME KINDA MAKES YOU SAY HMMM..Crab's brother wrote:Ok. Actually, no, you're just completely wrong and obvioulsy reaching at straws. The SOC doesn't assign officials for their league games. Also, being a TVC guy, and noticing that Crab's Bro is obviously an SOC guy, you clearly took his post and ran with it. It was a nice try, I guess, but a little weak. I especially liked the part where you acted like you know him and/or the official he is talking about. I thought that was kinda cute, in the same manner that it's cute when my kids try to talk their way out of things even when they are caught red-handedBIGHITSINC wrote:JUST SAID HMMM

Re: Officials for playoffs
By the way, please tell your brother thanks for his time and efforts as an official. I believe officials rarely get enough credit or appreciation for the job that they do.
