im pulling for area teams. ironton makes me nervous. if they can tackle and hold onto the ball they will win. they have fell apart the last month or so.

The game should go pretty fast as both teams run the ball 90% of the time and don't commit a lot of senseless penalties.

Sadly, a good assessment. Also, blocking has been a problem area lately.handwash77 wrote:im pulling for area teams. ironton makes me nervous. if they can tackle and hold onto the ball they will win. they have fell apart the last month or so.

Some info for the Tiger fans.....
Get there early....the visitor side bleachers are a little small.
There is plenty of standing room around the field.
Plenty of parking around the school.
The concessions are excellent, so come hungry.
GO ACES!!!!!!

Fanosports. I have always been curious to how people come up with scores on here trying to sound like they know each team and have a deep analysis of both teams. I am wondering how you arrived at the score to be 21 14. Specifics please? You think amanda cannot handle the o line of ironton? Amandas passing game is too weak? Or we have no idea what amanda is like and we just thre out numbers to sound good?

Re: D IV R15 Qtrs: Ironton (6-4) at Amanda- Clearcreek (8-2)
I can make 2 guarantees, 1) I will be there and 2) Ironton will NOT end with 21 points. Maybe 20 or 22, but it requires a kicker to get to 21. I think with the inability to put a ball through the uprights, you are destined to end with an even number on the board.
I have not seen Amanda play in several years. I didn't think they played as tough of a schedule as Ironton, BUT after their win over Logan Elm, now they have made me believe they are for real. If Ironton plays to their potential, they can win. If they have a first half like last week, Amanda advances.
My prediction, someone at Buffalo Wild Wings asks to send it to OT and Ironton wins 20-14.

Re: D IV R15 Qtrs: Ironton (6-4) at Amanda- Clearcreek (8-2)
I have seen A-C play a few times this year, but not Ironton. They run several different backs regularly (the most featured is Saum), all of whom are very solid-good backs. Their QB can run a bit, and while they don't throw a lot, they can throw effectively, especially to Andrix (you won't miss him, he is a head taller than everyone on the field).
Defensively, they are a typical A-C team. Stout against the run (especially between the tackles, from what I have observed). Against Hartley, they were beaten to the edge several times on sweeps/tosses/reverses, but then again Hartley is exceptionally fast (as Ironton knows). They are susceptible to the pass, but A-C teams have almost always been.
Special teams is solid overall. Give up some yards on kick/punt returns, but are able at times to generate some yards of their own on returns. Punter is average. Kicker is very good. If the game is close and comes down to potential FGs/EPs, I would think A-C is heavily favored there.
I am excited for this matchup. It has been long overdue, IMO.
Also, not sure how familiar Ironton fans are with getting to AC, but it is easy. There are three easy ways (depending on how you want to come up). I assume most will use 23. One way is to go to Circleville, get off at 22 and go east. You will come to Amanda about 12 miles east of Circleville (it will be on your right).
Another more scenic route is to go to Chillicothe and take 159 North. You will go through Kingston, then wind through part of Pickaway county. When you get to Tarlton, take a left at the stop sign to stay on 159. You will then go through Oakland and, several miles later, come to a pizza shop on the left (Tommy Wayne's). Make the left at Tommy Wayne's and the school will be on the right.
If you would happen to want to take 33, you will want to take the bypass by Sugar Grove and take the 22 exit from the bypass. Go west and Amanda will be 7-8 miles on the left.
Have a good trip up. You should be happy with the matchup if for no other reason than that the drive is way shorter/easier than going to Johnstown.

I don't know each team I throw scores out here for but do follow a lot of high school football, travel to many games in different conferences each year, work with or know a lot of fans and graduates from many school districts (past and present) that I talk to at different times along with trying to compare coaches, conferences, schedules, weekly results, tendencies, etc. In this case for instance I've seen both teams play this year, have a friend at work whose son plays for Canal Winchester who played Amanda, another co-worker who is a graduate of Hartley who beat both teams this year and another co-worker I talk to a lot who is an OHSAA official and referees games every week in different parts of the state. But in the end, it's all just my opinion and a guess just like yours.CavsFan08 wrote:Fanosports. Of course, I'm first and foremost for the IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS!
But over time, I have also always admired, respected, and mostly cheered for Amanda-Clearcreek.
Why is it that we've never played each other before? Two great programs both with winning histories and not THAT far apart geographically [Ironton has routinely traveled much farther to games].
I don't travel - but I'll be here glued to the WIRO radio broadcast and typing as fast as I can!

Looks like this winner will get the Coshocton/Martins Ferry winner.
