2012 TVC (Ohio and Hocking) Team Reloading
I was posting in another thread and the topic of what teams will look like next year came up, so let's take a look at it. This is for all teams, not just N-Y. I know that everybody is just trying to go 1-0 this week and not looking past the next game, but let's try to look forward. Regardless of how many wins a team finishes with this season, who wins the TVC, who makes the playoffs or how many playoff games they win, let's look at 2012.
Nelsonville-York - How about a candid assessment of the 2012 Buckeyes. Last Friday was Senior Night and looking out at the field it was clear that we are losing some very talented young men. Most folks I've talked to think we will just reload at every position and move on. We seem to do this every year and have been exceptionally successful at it. In addition to talent, I think our "system" (with the same football family coaching since we became NY) has a lot to do with our success. Unfortunately, we are not infallible.
I think we will be okay at most positions, but QB has me worried. This year's starting and back-up QB's are graduating. Our freshamn QB this year is out for the rest of the season with concussion issues, so he isn't getting the game experience a young QB needs. He certainly has talent, but concussions are easy to get (especially once you've had one) and I think he may have had 3 already. So what do you think? If he plays, then what? If he can't, then what?
Our running game is always strong and it looks like it will be in good hands next year. The underclassmen are getting a lot of touches and they are performing well. I think they will do us proud again.
Receiver wise, we are losing some talent. One of our best young receivers got a concussion in the Vinton County game and will be out for a couple of weeks. He's a tough kid that could be a standout if he's able to play full go next year. Fortunately, our QB has done a good job with spreading the ball around this year, so I hope the underclassmen are prepared.
As far as o-line and defense go, I think we will be fine. We have underclassmen playing this year and they are performing very well. I would be very surprised if they let us down.
So, what do other N-Y fans think? How about other TVC Ohio or Hocking teams?

South gallia will be losing alot of good players. But have some youth in the system. 12 seniors I believe out of the 20-25 on the team.

I think NY will be just fine. The names and faces change, but the outcome is usually the same. NY will be in the hunt for a league championship in most years.

Athens is in a position that we may have never been in before, we are graduating a ton of talent but the kids coming up are quality players and we may be "reloading" instead of "rebuilding". Do I think the young group of Dogs will win 9 or 10 games, probibly not but I think 6 or 7 wins are well within reach of this group of soon to be new starters.

VC is gonna most likely struggle once again. Not enough size, not enough speed. On the bright side, they do have a really good coach who can build it quickly if some talent emerges.

Trimble has a nice Freshman class coming in next year.
NY only has 8 kids on their 8th grade team this year, and who knows how many of them will play next year. NY will have decent skill positions, but will have to break in a new QB and some linemen. They also lose quite a bit on D. They will be ok. They may not be 10-0, but they will still by very competative.
Athens has really good talent in their younger grades that will start getting opportunities. They will be fine.
Wellston has some talent in their Jr High that will be coming to help the next couple years. They will be competitive if they stick with it throughout HS.

Honestly, Wellston is the toughest biddy, jr. high program right now. NY is good and I imagine will be fine but if Wellston can work with what they have, watch out.
The 8 8th graders for NY have played since around 3rd grade.

Does anyone know what the schedule will look like next year? Trimble will be week 1, I think Ready was another 1 year contract, I'm not sure about Newark Catholic, I think Berne Union is gone, and we play at Logan in week 5.
Losing players like Dean, Young, Kline, etc. hurts, but we ALWAYS reload. From 7 on 7's, lifting in the offseason, plyo's, 2 a-days, all the way up to the first Friday of the season, Coach Boston and the staff instills confidence and the employs all of the necessary tools that players need to get the job done. Failure is NOT an option.

From what I have read and heard Belpre has a very good group of kids coming up from jr high... Might not be ready in 2012 but could have a impact in 2013.

How many starters is wahama losing? It seems to me your team is a lot like NY and senior heavy.
