Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
the hornets should win but it is at Rv and strange things can happen at that field.
Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
Go Big Grove!!!!! It has been a hard week in the Grove with the passing of Coach John Jones. Coach Jones was a mentor to many students over the last 20 years. He will be missed by his friends, family, co-workers, and students. Rest In Peace, John. So in honor of Coach Jones.....Go Grove.

CGH10 -- I think the response to this post from the RVHS "faithful" should answer your question.cghornet10 wrote:Will this be remotely close to a decent game?

Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
Raiders will show up to play, the last couple weeks turned the ball over before they had a chance to do anything.
They are hoping to change some things around and stop the mistakes.
we will see?
Coal Grove is good against inferior talent, they beat the teams they should beat!

coal grove by at least 4 td's. RV defense cant stop any kind of a running game.

I really could be wrong here - just going by what I've heard - but, defense hasn't been the problem this year. I don't know - ask Rvbballdude. Or maybe some other RV folks can post an answer.
For example, 62 points sounds like an awful lot, but didn't Chesapeake return 4 or 5 picks for touchdowns & great field position ?

ok. say they did get a few picks. The defense still didnt stop them and if they returned all 5 for td's. What about the other 30 points?

Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
Grove wins but strange things happen with the Grove goes to River Valley, two years ago RV starts the game off with either a kickoff return or a long pass play for a TD then it was four years ago I believe we had the triple overtime game. So prepare for everything and expect anything.
Also field conditions will be key,,,,,(no offense) River Valley's current field isn't the best in dry conditions but the fact we will have a wet muddy field doesn't help either team this week.

Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
cg finally run the ball against a weak team, they haven't been able to run the ball against the good teams. they will have to depend on #4 and the passing game to have a chance to beat the peake. afraid lucas will get hung back up on this running game now that they moved it against weaker teams, but in the big game he has to be more diversified to win. they have the qb to do it if they allow him to make plays.
Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
cg 42-13.
offense can't move the ball. defense can't stop anyone.

Your are Correct! The Chesapeake Defense scored 4 or 5 touchdowns on turnovers.RationalVoice wrote:I really could be wrong here - just going by what I've heard - but, defense hasn't been the problem this year. I don't know - ask Rvbballdude. Or maybe some other RV folks can post an answer.

The defense has been the bright spot on this team, they have been within 2 scores in several games late but the offense just turns the ball over too much i think the QB pos has 22 interceptions this year i could be wrong. RV has a pretty good secondary with Hefner Noble,Stanley and Davies all having good speed and they can tackle. The problem is that they just don't have the bulk on the line and not great speed at MLB until the past couple weeks When Austin Lewis got healthy he can run and is about 6-1 210.
Also Expect some changes from the Raiders this week??
This could be the healthiest the Raiders have been since FT Frye when they lost a heart breaker and shut FT Frye out in the 2nd half. I think Coal Grove isn't as big as in past years but they are very well coached and strong and have speed.
It will be a tall task for RV to match up with Coal Grove, but the last 2 weeks they could get 1 or 2 wins.
The only 2 teams to totally dominate RV were Meigs and Chesapeake. The other games turnovers or Drive killing mistakes were the difference.
4thandpine how many RV games have you gone to this year? I hope several? Because if you haven't and you don't know what your talking about your should just keep your mouth shut. These are High School kids, your not on ESPN talking about high profile athletes these kids read his. I would say your a pretty small man!

The Field is in great shape this year,i think any field will be muddy unless you have a rug, they are terrible in rain!!2trap_4ever wrote:Grove wins but strange things happen with the Grove goes to River Valley, two years ago RV starts the game off with either a kickoff return or a long pass play for a TD then it was four years ago I believe we had the triple overtime game. The 07 game you talk about going to 3 ot's that RV team should have been 7-3 they were one of the most talented underachieving teams I can remember in Southern Ohio.

Does anyone know if this game can be heard on the radio or internet tonight?

Re: Week 8: Coal Grove at River Valley
Coal Grove holds on to defeat River Valley 20-13 great game to watch.
Raiders made a change at Qb to Noble had zero turnovers had the ball with 2:00 left missed pass interference call cost Rv a chance to advance inside Coal Grove territory.
Rv defense played Lights out in 2nd half

wow tough game for the grove after the loss of coach jones and the funeral this week. proud of this group of kids for all they did this week.
on another note, bare and steele made the big plays when the grove got in a jam. they have done this all year. great leaders to be just juniors. things are looking bright for the rest of this year and next year.
