Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
Surprised Eastern hasn't started a thread on this one yet. Figured it would be one of the games he looked forward to this season. Caldwell got back in the win column last week after a 4 game losing streak by demolishing Frontier to the tune of 60-6. Fort Frye comes off a 27-15 win over Buckeye Trail. Caldwell is playing for it all, as any loss from here on out pretty much eliminated any hope of making the playoffs. According to Drew Pasteur, they have a 83% chance of making the playoffs if they win out. Need to bring it every game from here on out.
Fort Frye's record is a bit deceiving. While they are 5-2, their wins have came against Belpre (0-7), Waterford (4-3), River Valley (1-6), Frontier (0-7), and Buckeye Trail (1-6). And they've struggled a little bit in a few of those games. With that said though, Caldwell can't overlook anyone. It seemed the last few games, they had lost the intensity that they had at the beginning of the season, and hopefully after their performance this past week, that intensity is back. Everyone knows what the Caldwell offense revolves around, and that is senior RB Adam Rossiter, who is around 40 yards short of breaking 1,000 on the season. Caldwell will run him early and often, while mixing in some running of Croucher and Van Meter. Can the Fort contain Rossiter enough to give their team a shot? Can Caldwell limit the big plays from Fort Frye's playmakers? Let's hear it. All thoughts and predictions welcome.

Would expect this to be a 3 or 4 score game in favor of the redskins. Fort Frye has played nobody to this point

It ain't going to be 60-6 that's for sure. The way coach Huck calls the plays very slowly the games are slow paced.Fort Frye plays good defense and has good speed on the outside with Alsbach and Spencer on defense.Fort Frye struggles with power backs so maybe they should get Kale and VanMeter more involved.Since they lost big play guy Shawn Cuthbertson some of the other players have stepped up such as Massey and Tyser.Fort Frye needs to throw the ball to move the chains. The qb runs an Spencer off tackle just won't work.I actually think FF will put 8 in the box and stop Rossiter some what.I think they will hit Tyser or Spencer deep once or twice.FF has a good DL with Wriston,Scottmand Kehl.I say it will be like 20-7 or 26-14 Caldwell.Good game to get Redskins some points.

It'd be nice if we could get Rayner some carries, but he's been hurt for quite a while. Believe he tore his MCL in the Harrison Central game. Wasn't there, but I also heard Caldwell lost Border for the remainder of the season against Frontier, elbow injury. If there is one thing Caldwell struggles against, it is the pass. Nobody has really been able to stop Rossiter this year though. If I remember correctly, he's only been held below 100 yards in one game this season, although I could be wrong. Like Eastern said, it's a big points game for Caldwell, and should they win, they'll be in prime position to make a run for a playoff spot with another big game the following week.EasternDspy wrote:It ain't going to be 60-6 that's for sure.

If Rossiter can break tackles through the Lang boys then maybe he has a good game.

Well, they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly, Hills that is, swimmin' pools, MOVIE STARS..........LOL.
Game is on the Muskingum. This will be a close game. FF plays their best game of the season and wins by 4. Redskins, another disappointing season after dropping this game.

if fort frye stops the run for caldwell, they should win. Buckeye Trail did that earlier in the year with a 6-2 D and caldwell didn't go anywhere with the run. but trail was terrible at stopping the pass, and thats what caldwell turned to. if the fort frye coaches read the sidelines of caldwell, they will know exactly where the ball is going.

I wasn't able to make it to the game, but looking at the stats, I wouldn't say Caldwell "didn't go anywhere with the run".vigril wrote:if fort frye stops the run for caldwell, they should win. 35 rushes, 213 yards, and 3 TD's.
That's about 6 yards a carry, and they had more yards and TD's on the ground than they did through the air.
Monroe Central is the only team that has limited Caldwell on the ground, as they are the only team that's kept them under 200 yards rushing on the season. And even then, they still averaged 5 yards a carry in that game.
Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
should have cleared it up. its been a while since that game, but if i remember correctly, trail did a 6-2 defense for the first half and caldwell passed. then they switched their defense to stop the pass and caldwell ran.
fort frye needs to pass this game.
i don't think it will be as bad as everyone is predicting.

Hope your spread on this game works out, but I think it'll be a strech for the Cadets to win.

Caldwell can't take anything for granted. They need to bring it. Last time Caldwell visited Fort Frye, they wound up on the short end of a low-scoring, close game. A game which probably should not have been lost. Keep winning and let the playoff points fall where they may.

Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
The team that beat Caldwell in 09 was way worse then this team they were lead by horrible Dave Rabourn.FF just plays a different style of game. They run like 4 plays every 3 mins.I am sticking with 20-7 Caldwell.
Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
not trying to look ahead or anything, but there is no way caldwell will beat wheeling central, and i don't see the top 8 moving anymore. both teams are playing for 3rd place in the pvc now

Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
True. Couldn't find a much tougher hill to climb than beating WCC, but hey, they play the games for a reason. Still can't quite understand the scheduling this season. They're playing a schedule set up to have enough points to make it in one of the D5 regions, when they should have known they weren't staying D5 for long. Looking at some of the teams in front of them like South Gallia, Portsmouth Notre Dame, Trimble, Rosecrans, etc, I think Caldwell is either better, or just as good as a lot of those teams. Unfortunately, the schedule is just way to demanding of a D6 team in their situation, and they lost some games they probably shouldn't have. Would have been interesting to see what Devol would have been able to do with this team.vigril wrote:not trying to look ahead or anything, but there is no way caldwell will beat wheeling central, and i don't see the top 8 moving anymore. both teams are playing for 3rd place in the pvc now
Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
yea their out of conference schedule is more than it should be with harrison central and wcc. i think they should maybe try to get 1 or 2 good D6 schools to try to schedule, instead of trying for D4 and D5.
i think caldwell had too big of a head this year. everyone planned for them to be a top seed in D6 and now they won't make it. kinda wish another team from the pvc could make it into the postseason.

I know it will be a stretch for them to win, but I have a little faith. And I'm rooting for the cadets in this one, the team needs a quality win to move up to the next level of competition. Yes, believe it or not, I want Dspy's team to win, he's been on his best behavior lately!!!!

Re: Caldwell (3-4) @ Fort Frye (5-2)
Caldwell should win this game. With that being said, since i am a FF fan i will break down reasons they could win.
1. Caldwells Running back. He is great, no arguements here, but FF has the spped to contain him. The teams that run well against FF have a power back. And that back is just too big for the little line backers to bring down. But with a speed back as long as he has to take one or two adjustments Chandler and Max can run them down. Rossiter Probably gets 100 yds because he breaks one monster run.
2. Caldwell pass defense. FF is not a good passing team. but last week Spencer got involved in some down field passes and Tyser is back so it could be respectable enough to open up some lanes.
3. Spencer on pass D. he takes away half of the field, one completion over 7 yds on his half of the field. No excuses but it was against Frontier in the rain and he slipped when he tried to jump for the easy INT.
Good luck to both teams.
Homer prediction: FF 21- Caldwell 20
