Woodsfield Monroe Central 20 Barnesville 10 FINAL

Post by Steely Dan »

Bitter rivalry, huge playoff implications in D-V, Region 17 (thanks OHSAA, should be Region 19). Throw the records out, these games are always a slugfest.

Time to start the chatter :-D

Barnesville is the definition of a second half team. MC needs to get out early and get a lead. If not they are in trouble.

It is . It's the equivalent of Massillon and McKinley going into their game 9-0 and 8-1. MC and Barnesville are bitter, hated rivals and so much rides on this game. Barnesville gets the edge being that its played in Barnesville. MC seniors looking to be the first graduating class never to lose to Barnesville in football maybe in the history of Woodsfield/Monroe Central. Over 100 years ago (although I can't confirm that). GO NOLES!!!!!! Get fired up for this game!!!!!!! I am and it's Saturday night. lol

Tough game to pick. Historically Noles don't usually play well against Rocks. I don't think the Rocks as good as record indicates but Noles are not where they need to be or should be @ this point in the season. Rocks have big line but slow...can't hold a block after initial contact. Team speed will be the difference in this game

Going with MC in this one. Barnesville has quite played the quality of teams that MC has, and Kinchen is a game changer. Stoudt and the linebacking corps will have a tough time containing him.

What world have you been in? Monroe has won the last three years by a total of 105-18. I don't know what "Historical" games you are looking at but MC always shows up to play against Barnesville and it will be the same this year.

Field conditions are going to play a huge factor in this game since the forecast looks pretty bad. I don't like the spread on a muddy track. Wish they'd just get in a single wing and power Kinchen and Hogue straight ahead. They'll wear down the defense.

Wish I was able to make the trip up to watch this one. I'll take Monroe Central by two scores, with the last one coming late to seal the win.

Monroe Central 20

Barnesville 10 FINAL

Barnesville QB throws SEVEN interceptions in this game.

MC had three turnovers. Good win at a very tough place to play. Congrats to Chief Jay on win # 298!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MC was the better team, but was less than impressive. They had to have about 80 yards in penalties in the first half alone. Their offense was moving pretty well then they'd have a penalty and kill themselves. Barnesville was not that impressive really. And somebody can tell #33 he can take his incredible hulk inflatable neck muscles off now. Talk about a neck roll... reminds me of the movie Fletch. lol

Anyway, MC is going to go 9-1, but I really don't think this team has played a complete game equal to their talent. If Ursuline isn't going to make the playoffs, if MC could put together a complete game, they can compete with anybody else in Region 17.

He had thrown nine picks through the first seven games, and then seven last night. Barnesville's field must have been a real mudhole. Photos with the following article give some idea of what the field was like.

That field definitely looked sloppy as could be in those pics. Thanks for the link. I enjoyed the article.

My pleasure. The Upper Ohio Valley media does a fantastic job covering HS football, the best I've seen. You have two TV stations (Wheeling and Steubenville), and four newspapers covering Monroe, Belmont, Guernsey, and Jefferson Counties, so the competition is steep, and the quality of the reporting is great. I grew up with that, didn't know how good I had it, and miss it to this day.......Oh well.

Gotta love HS football, regardless.

Really think the noles could have kept going backside to Nixon. Dont think their backside cornerbacks were nearly as tall and athletic as he is, especially not Pritchard. Also think MCs four straight wins vs barnesville will go a couple more years. Possibly 4 more years. With that said, it looks like Coach C gets his 300th win this year.

Man, it would be great to be able to have that type of coverage!!! That's awesome for the kids and the fans alike.
