What west team is better?

Which west team do you think is better? This years or last years?

i was just wondering everyones opinion. i have seen this years team more than i saw last years

Id say its a wash honestly. Last years team had a little bit better skill, but this years team has an improved d-line and o-line (all the kids on last years team are seniors now). However, West doesn't have the one star player that they had last year in Pendleton. You could argue that Auger is or possibly Ratliff, but when the game was on line everybody knew who the ball was going to (not that was a bad thing). Overall, if I had to say one was better I would probably say this years...but its a toss up. We will see if they can knock of Valley and or the Burg something they haven't done in two years.

last years team in my opinion, which doesn't matter, would have went 10-0 until Trevon go hurt. West changed their defense for that game with the idea of him stopping Yates' run. When he went out not only did we loose our best player, but the players got down and West had to change entire defensive philosophy on the fly. Later in the year we lost Compton and others also. With that we still gave both Valley and Burg all they wanted and more.

This team isn't as skilled but they aren't slouches by any means. We don't have the big horse, but instead more horses. I still don't think this team has reached it's potential. Our middle linebacker play is improving, which is vital to any defense, but especially the 5-2. Our lines are dominant and deep. They basically play 1 way, which is really hard for most teams to compete with. Offensively I still don't think this team has an identity yet. Auger is really good. I still think they need to get Sommers the ball more whether passing (screens) or running (maybe an end around if he plays TE). We have to keep mixing it up. Friday even in the bad whether we passed the ball quite well. When we mix it up like that, we are hard to defend.

That is a tough one, this years team is alot of the same kids but a year older several of them 3 year starters this year d- line is as good as we have had as long as I can remember they are very impressive, the offense which I agree dont think they have reached their potential need to get Sommers and Carnes more involved, I think this team is harder to prepare for with alot more different kids to watch out for, last year you knew you were going to get alot of Trevon Pendleton this year you just dont know, we seem to have alot more depth this year and better team chemistry I know we lost several talented kids last year but I think I will go with this years team just have a good feeling about them I think if they can cut down on the penalties and reach their potential on offense we will be watching them play some games in November.

Just my two cents...I think this will be a better question in about a month or so. The thing that impressed me the most about last year's West team was the resiliency they showed after the aforementioned injuries took place. It would have been very easy for those kids to just hang it up after Pendleton went down and even more so with the double-whammy injury situation with Pendleton and Compton. However, they battled. That's a true X-factor that can't be measured until adversity happens. I know folks have talked up the Chesapeake game as a "test" or "benchmark setter" to this point in the season, and that would be correct, but we all know that the last five weeks of the season in the SOC 2 is head and shoulders above the non-league from a competition and variable standpoint. I think that this year's West team could be the best team in Region 19, but they've yet to face the level of competition needed to prove it. At the same time, the scariest part about them is that their own best football could be in front of them. If that's the case, then Region 19 better watch out!

I wont get into which team is better but the schedule for this years team is much easier than last year. I have seen every team in the SOC II this year other than Valley that could be stronger the rest of the league is down. I would say without Pendleton last years team would win the league this year. But that should favor this years West team if they can get their starters to the side lines early will help them later in the year.
