I went out to watch, over all we looked pretty good.

I think the D will be very muched improved from last year, to me it looks much quicker, Minford did seem to move the ball pretty well untill they got into the red zone "remember their starting back did not play"

we moved the ball god on offense, esp passing....Myers hit Simpson for two long T D,S ,,,and also hit Wayne Evans for a couple of long completions.

Myers seemed to have time to throw for the most part,if we can get him time like that all year, good things will happen, with the receivers we have.

the running backs had some nice hard runs not real sure who all was running the ball but,Angelo Jackson did punch one in....

Minford also done a lot of good things, but I dont know any of their players,so someone else will have to help out there.

Minford looks to be a hadfull again this year.

Nice scrimmage for the Falcons and the Trojans.
Minford's run defense kept Portsmouth's speed down, but need to shore up the pass defenders in the secondary.
The Trojans put together a good passing scheme against Minford today, but I believe Minford in a game situation, wouldn't give a quarterback that much time to pick apart the defensive secondary.
When the chains came on the field, Minford went straight down the field with multiple first down runs to put one in the endzone and held the Trojans on downs. Then the JV teams took over and Minford showed a couple of good running backs their too, able to make several moves and break tackles and I think some of the JV players were laying the smackdown out there on some plays.
Again, it was a scrimmage.
Next up for the Falcons is a Jamboree game at home Friday against the East Tartans at 7 p.m. and meet the team night is set for Saturday at 6 p.m.
First game is on the road to River Valley.

Go Falcons!!

Minford did not blitz inside as that was a pre game agreement according to one of the coaches.

i heard the same thing. but the corners need to play a little tighter coverage regardless of blitzing

I'm sure they know that now! The first one should have been picked if he comes back to the ball that was thrown short. The second one, the defender just got caught looking on the scramble. :122249 I think we'll be fine, I like the size of our corners. I didn't like the ten yard run at the goal line.

First if there was a pregame agreement neither team followed it. Because on both long TD's the blitz came up the middle and Myers broke containment. One the first one the receiver just out played the defender for the ball if it were not under thrown he had the defender by 5yds to begin with. On the second on, the receiver just out ran the entire secondary of Minford. I think Minford will have a good year, but their conditioning was terrible. They were sucking air from the 2nd series on. They need to get in shape if they want to compete with West and Burg. Portsmouth got up 3 scores and in my opinion got complacent and gave up a score. If this was a regular season game due to conditioning and athletes. Portsmouth would have had their second team in by the 4th quarter. Overall I think both teams will have winning seasons. Good luck to both teams this year.

There was not a blitz comeing from the middle, that was cheese chasing him a d-lineman. I thought we drove the ball well and Portsmouth did not have an answer for Sloan. Remember McCormick did not play.

It's just a scrimmage don't take it so personal. Not every day or game can be a good one. It just wasn't their day. Again remember it's just a SCRIMMAGE. Good luck to Minford in the SOC.

Players that didn't play for Portsmouth;

Casey Sanders - Starting LT 2yr starter(hurt his ankle on the second play)
London Malone - Starting WR and CB 4yr starter (Quad injury)
Jalen Kennedy - Starting LB and a RB 2yr starter

So please don't use the this person or that person didn't play as any excuse.

I thought the scrimmage was good for both teams. Im sure Minford would have scored more than one touchdown if they went maybe 13 plays instead of 10. They just ran out of plays. The Trojans passing attack was clicking yesterday as Meyers looked very good. Minfords running attack is as advertised as Slone, Bryan and Gaines racked off several good runs.

Myers threw for about 300 yrds and 2 scores to Simpson. And Jackson ran one in from about the 1 yrd line. Portsmouth looked pretty good in the first 3 series posting 3 scores and not giving up any. Then the forth series Minford did a good job of driving down and scoring late.

i would say more like 175 yards and 2 tds for meyers is more realistic

Does it matter? less then 2 weeks from now everyone is going to be 0-0 and 0.0 in stats. Why sit here and talk stats up from a scrimmage? I understand scores maybe but recieving, rushing, tackles etc. C'mon..lets save it for the regular season :)

I thought we stopped the run for the most part. The first TD should have been picked. The second TD, the corner got caught looking on the scramble and the receiver took off, like he should. The turnover, I guess Aaron didn't see the linebacker. Take those three mistakes away and we did pretty good. I thought Sloan ran well, and we moved the ball well. Overall not bad. There was an agreement before the game that they would not blitz from the middle gaps, so that gave the qb plenty of time to throw. Overall not to bad, but plenty to work on.
