The Spartans got a scare last week from Belpre. There will be no scare this week. I'll take my Spartans by 18 points. But they better enjoy it while they can. We have Athens, Meigs, and NY the next three weeks. Our defense has got to improve or Athens will torch us for 60.

Having watched both teams play, here are my observations (however, I've not seen FH since Coach Springer returned):

Fed Hock will put nine men in the box and will try and force Alex to throw.

Alexander's QB's mobility will create problems for FH.

If Lawson or Hedrick break into the secondary with the ball with any regularity, it is going to be a long night for FH.

Alexander needs to shore up their run defense. They struggled stopping Belpre's Watkins up the middle, and were exploited by Wadaker a few times on the outside.

Both teams need to pressure the QB with much more regularity. If Alex waits until 1 minute left in the 4th quarter to blitz Torrence, they may be in trouble. Give Torrence a little time, and he's shown that he can hurt you through the air.

Turnovers will be critical. FH has no turnovers, this is a toss-up. The Lancers give it up two or more times, Alex wins, going away.

Should be a good one. Good luck to both teams.

Hard to go against Alexander in this one, although it sounds like the Lancers are steadily improving. How are the things after the coaching change? I would imagine there would be a few growing pains?

About the game: I covered this game last year, and let me just say - I was absolutly shocked when Alex came out and steamrolled the Lancers ... of course, 5 turnovers didn't help FH, but hey that's part of the game ... I may actaully be doing the SPACER game again this year, if so, perhaps Alex needs to watch out and be prepared in case I have some 'bad luck' effect on the team that is favored.
