TVC-Ohio Nelsonville-York (6-0) @ Alexander (5-1)

Post by Orange and Brown »

Okay here we go!!! Can the Buckeyes keep the streak alive? Can the Spartans get that monkey off there backs?

NY will come out fired up for this one, no senior class wants to be the first to pick up a loss against the Spartans!

Alex will come out ready to prove that they are as good as there record says they are!

Should be a packed house over at Alexander!!!

Hope they bring in some extra bleachers for this one!!!!!

What are your thoughts?????????????

should be a crowded night good luck to both teams hopefully they avoid injuries, but i have to say nelsonville in this one since alexander's proved they have trouble scoring against teams with defenses

The Spartans played very hard against Athens last night and did't give up even when down 21 early in the 3rd, they faught hard till the end and played much closer than the scoreboard would let you believe. Turnovers and big plays were the difference. The Alex run D didn't make Athens have to throw a wet ball ( I think harris was only like 2-5 10 yds officially ) and that kept the time ticking away. If the Spartans can play with the same energy level as they did last night and eliminate the turnovers I could see this game alot like the N-Y v Meigs game, they could give N-Y a real run for their money. I know they will be missing big # 79 after an ejection last night and I don't know how critical his blocking abilities are to the success of the Alex O. Should be a good one, fasten your chin straps.

This game may very well have to be won in the 2nd half by NY. NY hasn't had to worry about close games from Alex in a long time.

I say Alex plays with a lot of heart and gives a great effort but comes up short in the end!
I do think this will be Alexanders last loss of the year!

This is the BEST Alexander Football Team I have seen in over 15 years ...
The turnovers hurt them against Athens, but it was also their Defense not getting off the field...

This should be a great game...

Alexander's comin' off their 1st loss of the season, they will be ready to make that a thing of the past...
NY has pushed their record to (6-0), and have never LOST to Alexander...

Should be a huge crowd over their in Spartanland...

Also, just like to say to ALL SPARTAN players...do not listen to what was said last night on the Radio Show...

Your Coach is great guy who has done wonders for your program...it's funny what one loss does to people, but like I heard a caller say. You were a (5-0) Team who lost to a (5-0) Team... it's hard to fault someone for losing a game of that magnitude...

Keep Your Heads Up, because you have another smashmouth, bang 'em out game this Week with the Buckeyes...

I decided to crunch some numbers and here is what I came up with!

Nelsonville-York has out scored Alexander 1301 to 278 in 37 games.

That is and average of 35.16 for NY and 7.51 for Alex.

The most points ever scored in a game for NY was 58 in 1982, the least amount scored in a game was o in 1974 (0-0 tie).

The most points ever scored in a game for Alex was 22 in 2005, the least amount was 0 (11 times).

All that being said; I think that this years game will be the closest in the history of this series. I still think Nelsonville-York comes away with the W but Alexander will give the Bucks all they want and then some! :122245

The game in this series that stands out the most is the 1975 game. If I have the year correctly, Alexander was 9-0, and NY was very mediocre. Yet, NY found a way to win.

I expect NY to win 27-14...Maybe 34-14. If NY loses the turnover battle, it will come down to the last few minutes of the fourth.

This should be a good game between two good football teams.
Good luck to the Alexander Spartans
But I will have to go with the Nelsonville York BUCKEYE’S.
Hope both teams stay injury free.

I think the key factor will b turnovers team with most turnovers will lose....alex better be ready to play all four Quarters cause the buckeyes have proved they do..."not saying alex dont"..and wont give up...NY was down 20 points in the first half and came back to beat berne union ...but i know alex isn't berne union aswell but still...buckeyes win in a barn burner...this game should be the game of the week...and i beleive it will be lol....good luck bucks!!

P.s.all we been hearing on the radio "sultan of smack show" from alex fans Nelsonville york better be ready for alex....but alex better be ready for NY aswell

This years version is not your typical Alexander team. The streak ends. Spartans win this game by three points, with their superior kicking game, and a strong defensive scheme to slow up with Buckeyes.

Hey Steely I don't know if you noticed but NY has only missed one extra point all year. I'm not sure the Spartans have the superior football team or kicking game. We shall see Friday night. :122249
