This game will not be a blowout, but unless NY can effectively pass the ball, they will have a very difficult time with Athens. Athen's defense is much better than Alexander's, and I'm sure that the Bulldogs will take a page from the Spartan's defensive playbook when preparing this week.

This game ought to be packed with folks from all over Athens county.

So because NY lost for the first time to Alex and because NY is only 16-2 in the last 18 years vs. Athens, the sky is falling for NY?

This will be the 30th matchup between NY and Athens. Although before consolidation by both schools in '67, the Nelsonville Greyhounds played the former unconsolidated Athens Bulldogs every year since the beginning of organized high school sports. Nelsonville's two non-league games in football were also played against The Plains Indians and Chauncey-Dover Blue Devils in most years.

Nope, I've talked about Athens entry into the league all year and have picked them to win the league from day 1 this year. If Alex continues to improve under Coach Arno they may be a force to be reckoned with year in year out until he leaves and you never know what Meigs team will show up so the league has caught up to N-Y is all I'm saying. At least I didn't predict you'd get beat by 4 touchdowns or as many as Athens wants like the 2 posters before me did.

What you are saying could be true. But you should realize that other than Arnold, this NY team is all Sophomores. Sophomores who have never lost one game when they were the oldest kids on the field. Meaning they have beat Meigs, Alex, Athens, etc. etc. every year since the beginning of biddy league play. The Buckeyes are a very young team this year. Their experience will catch up with them soon and the Bucks should be a force to be reckoned with when those sophomores become juniors and seniors.

Also: The N-Y people keep wanting to pull all these all-time records out against some of these teams. If you're truly going to count "ALL TIME" wins & losses then include something before 1967 when the schools consolidated and before the TVC. What was Nelsonville's record from 19-- to 1967 against any of these teams or even Chauncey-Dover, Ames-Bern, The Plains etc. Heck, Athens would have schooled Nelsonville the 40's,50's, 60's (which they did for a couple of years) and the 1970's. Your first win against Athens was in 1983 and it wasn't until the 1990's you started putting a few together. You don't include records before 1967. I know Nelsonville was in the SEOAL for parts of different decades before that and didn't win much over all those years.

Amazing how we didn't hear that this was a young NY team until they lost??? LOL Sorry NYBuckeyes96 just giving you a hard time. This NY program has been the class of the TVC for many many years and everyone has been striving to get to where they are. Now it's finally looking like the league is coming up to NY's level....except for my alma mater (Meigs) who still continues to struggle/lose year in and year out against the Buckeyes LOL.
I know it's gotta be hard to read everyone's jubilation in the fact that NY got beat against Alexander and that they are probably an underdog against Athens, but you have to understand that nobody has been able to feel this way for a long time. It should make you guys feel pretty good that everyone is making such a big deal out of beating you.

The facts that you site help build excitement for the upcoming game and by no means are you disrespectful to the other teams. Please keep up the good work.

As for "Mr. Fangosports" or "Mr. Benchwarmer" or whatever his name is, he has no idea of the pride that we have for our program, mainly because he knows nothing about it. Beginning in biddy league, our coaches are committed to making our team AND the entire league stronger. My son is a 6th grader and has played for NY since the 2nd grade. During that time, I have seen Coach Dean give pants, shirts, pads, etc. to other schools when they couldn't afford to buy them. This year alone I think he gave a new team to our league enough helmets and shoulder pads to dress the entire team. And, every 2 years or so, our 5th and 6th team is taken to Florida to compete in the National Youth Football Championships. What an opportunity for kids from such a small district in SE Ohio!!

This dedication is carried through the junior high and high school level. I know you wouldn't understand this "Mr. Fang" as you are just an outsider looking in. Is that called a "Buckeye Wannabe"?
