ALL SEOAL?

Post by FOURTYTWOISO »

With the season winding down what are some guesses for all seoal from each team that you've seen. It doesn't have to be your own team either but some of the young men you've seen from each team this year. But some of you have seen some of your own now for 8 weeks so you would probably know your own best. I know there is still 2 weeks left but what the heck.

LOGAN

IRONTON

PORTSMOUTH

JACKSON

WARREN

GALLIA

MARIETTA

CHILLY

Kyle Dingess - Gallia Academy
Sam Cramblitt - Ironton
JP Taylor - Ironton
John Monning - Ironton
Perry Wheeler - Marietta
Kaleb Wolfe - Warren

Patrick Angle, Logan
Ralph Robinson, Logan
Bobby Russell, Logan
Mason Mays, Logan
Michael Snider, Logan
Zach McDaniel, Logan (Obviously I've seen Logan more than the other teams)

I haven't seen Jackson or Chillicothe yet and won't see Portsmouth. But there's a list to start with.

Chilly - Shey Netter (SR), Drew Basil (SR)
Ironton - Tres Wilkes (JR), Sam Cramblitt (SR), J.P. Taylor (SR), Keith Wetzel(SR)
Jackson - Ryan Mullins (SR), Kruize Wandling (SR),
Gallia - Kyle Dingess (SR)
Warren - Grant Venham (JR), Kaleb Wolfe (SR)

These are a few that stood out when we played them. We did not see Logan this year and have not played Marietta yet. But hear would be a few choices from Portsmouth that have had very good years.

#9 Josh Myers - QB/S - (JR)
#18 Kyle Simpson - WR/CB - (JR)
#75 Casey Sanders - OL - (JR)
#51 Brennan Howard - OL/DT - (JR)
#4 London Malone - CB/WR - (SR)
#23 Andrew Gulley - OLB - (JR)
#30 Trey Underwood - ILB - (JR)
#58 Jason James - DE - (SR)

Im sure there are others for each team that I didn't mention but these are the ones that stood out to me this year for each team as I watch the Trojans play them.

I would bump Wetzel of Ironton in there in place of Snider

I would bump another Logan player out first. Snider is one of the best defensive players in the league and the top tackler on the Chieftain football team. He's a no brainer IMO.

Does anyone know how many make 1st team All-SEOAL. Do you get so many based on how you finish in the conference standing.

Ive listened from afar here in Orlando, and have definitely remembered some standout playmakers... The lists sound good and bring back the memory of listening... Good job to those of you that take the time in putting effort into this. It is fun to read, thx

Best of the Warriors:
Wolfe RB/LB Sr
Pritt RB/LB Sr
Mason CB Sr
Venham WR/Punter JR

And on the line....
Wolfe has 746 yards rushing to lead the league cuz of Alfred (Sr), Arbuckle (Sr), Timberman (Jr) and Greathouse (Jr)...among the others.

Sad to say this but. All SEOAL does not have players by position like a first team at all the defensive/offiesive positions 2nd team, homorable mention etc.. Why not have two at each position. You will hardly ever see the guys in the trenches getting these honors it goes to the in-the-spotlight positions and it is coaches vote. Have seen some absolutely horrendous choices, when deserving kids get left out in the cold, or the player that everyone knows is the best doesn't getthe nod, because coaches gang up on a player or coach to keep their kids out. Just my own personal opinion. All the mentioned people here are deserving, but look at the guys up front grinding it out for the Angles, Wolfes, Wetzels, Mays, etc. Anyone want to bet on not very many linemen. Lets make up a team at each position. Any one else feel this way.

An 'all' team that does not place players by position is not truly an all team. Its just a list of good players but not the list of all the good players. There is always some favoritism and politics involved in these selections. A first team and a second team, by position would be the best way. All players may not end up where they should be, but it would be hard to shut a best at his position player out.

For Portsmouth;
OFFENSE

Josh Myers QB (1400 total yard, 9 TD RSH-7TDS PASSING)
Kyle Simpson WR (25 REC, 400 YDS, 6 TOTAL TD'S, 16 YPC)
Casey Sanders OT ( A BEAST AT TACKLE)
Brennen Howard OG (A PURE STUD ON THE LINE)

DEFENSE

London Malone CB (PLAYED OUTSTANDING AT CB)
Trey Underwood LB (DEFENSIVE LEADER N THE MIDDLE)
Jason James DE (SACK MASTER)
Andrew Gulley LB (PURE FOOTBALL PLAYER)

These are the top 4 on both sides of the ball as far as ALL-SEOAL goes. I know it dont go by position on which side of the ball you play. Stats per the SEOAL stats post on the front page.

Should be done by position, i agree.... Warren has some great skill players this year, but have some outstanding guys on the line.. alot of the big guys on the line return for Warren next year, should be in good shape

I agree 100% about the "by position" selection for All-SEOAL.

That's why LoganFootball.com has been naming 1st, 2nd, and Honorable Mention All-SEOAL teams since 2002. I think it is much more representative of the league as a whole.

And what a perfect time to make it right with the expansion of the league a few years ago.

I would add Tyler Dement and Tim King to this list from Logan. Both juniors that have done an excellent job for Logan this year.

Here is how it works:

The coaches meet and put their player nominations on the board and talk about each one. Then the coaches vote (can't vote for you own player) on a first group of 11. (1st = 11 pts., 2nd = 10 pts., etc). Then then the coaches vote again using the same process and you get a second group of 11 giving you a total of 22 all-seoal players.

Then each coach can select two of his players as honorable mention.

With the flawed process, you could get all 8 QB's, 8 RB's, and 6 WR's and no lineman. It is definitely not the best way of doing it.
