Why would I be joking? At least Gerald has a great work ethic and has been very smart about things, which is more than I could say for andre smith.

I'm not questioning Gerald's work ethic. But this isn't pee wee. The NFL is a talent based league. When someone comes on a message board and makes the comment that an undrafted offensive tackle should have been drafted ahead of the Outland Trophy winner, a player who dominated in the SEC, I would hope that poster was joking.

Nobody get their hopes up of seeing him this year. That would be a stretch. This is probably a move at getting a big body into their system and time to learn the system, and to work out and be around the program with a serious look for next year. The one really good thing is that practice squad players are fair game for another team. The only way to protect a player on the practice squad is to place them on the roster.

In the meantime, Gerald will get the NFL mandated $5,200.00 per week until the season is out.
