Do we have permission to talk about this NOW?! We were scolded last week, and the thread was deleted. Also, could we mention SERIOUS names for consideration and not one or two that were mentioned last week.
Something needs to happen NOW!!! The OLmen need to get in the weight room ASAP, as well as the rest of the players not doing a winter sport. Those should be in there regardless of whom will be hired. Get a guy hired so he can put a staff together and get their ducks in a row for next season. Most staffs will begin meeting very soon, if they aren't in the playoffs.

Is retirement still speculation or has he annouced it? I know Warren isnt a tradition rich football program, but there is some serious talent walking the halls. If the right coach put things together Warren would be a force every year in football

There has been no announcement of anything.
Nothing graduates in May except a group of 11 seniors who did a lot to put Warren football back on the map for the first time in 11 years. There's still a lot of talent, a lot of skill, a lot of dedication in Vincent

coal miners son, you are on track. and correct. the key to a solid football program , every year. is weights, weights, and more weights. thats why since 1973, ironton has made so many playoff appearences. and a great coaching staff. you cannot build a winning tradition, and have a winning attitude, unless you can blow your man off the ball.

Re: Vincent Warren Local Football 2010
My son was one of the starting O-Line this year for Warren and will be one of the seniors next year. He has already started his after school lifting and running to be ready for next year. I made the mistake of asking him to do something after school tonight and you would have thought I grounded him or something. He cannot leave directly after school because he has to go lift and run. I was taken off guard normally they don’t start their after school football lifting until 2 weeks after the football banquet. Anyways my point is that the boys are already preparing for next year. Right now he has no intention to let up and even plans to work harder for next year. His goal is to be bigger stronger and ready to play both offence and defense. Warren is losing a great group of seniors, but mark my words we will still have great talent next year and will be a very competitive team in the SEAOL. Coach Pifer will be missed, he has done a great job turning around our program. I hoped he would stay one more year; it would have been nice to have one group of kids with the same coach for all four years. I only hope that the new coach is hired very soon so that he and the boys can build a relationship during the off season.

Hopefully that won't be the case. It needs to be separate so the AD can manage to get the other teams at the school their buses, uniforms, paperwork and so on.

You know, surprisingly, it's worked out very well for the past 3 years.

Re: Vincent Warren Local Football 2010
Yeah, it worked real well, except for the other sports at Warren that:
didn't have buses for their events...
didn't have uniforms and other equipment ordered that were supposed to be...
didn't get the awards they were supposed to for winning SEOAL...
didn't have help for their events...
didn't have the requested for supplies to host home events...
didn't have their eligibility papers filed with the appropriate organizations on time so that their athletes weren't on the verge of not being permitted to compete...
had to have their coaches ask over and over and over again to have basic tasks completed...
had the AD tell them their sport was being eliminated (when it wasn't) with no details or information...
have the necessary information for their home events disseminated to visiting schools in a timely manner...
And the list could go on.
It only worked out because of the other head coaches taking on more than their share of what were supposed to be the AD's responsibilities.

Re: Vincent Warren Local Football 2010
Coach Pifer wasn't that bad, some of the district coaches want a baby setting service not all though. There are some things you have to take of as a coach which a AD can not. Schedules do change and people do forget and things fall apart when things are not normal. I believe that Jim Pifer has done an excellent job for several years and will do a excellent job somewhere else if he choses to leave. If he decides to retire from Warren then Coach Gribble will lead them with the help from Kelly Venham.
Sorry Kelly I couldn't help myself!!

What sport was possibly being eliminated?
Re: Vincent Warren Local Football 2010
I gurantee they would be better off if Kelly was the head coach instead of Gribble...she knows more about the game...

you better watch what you say diehard...the venhams have done more and volunteered more time at that school than anyone in the last decade...i think if you ask anyone out there they would love to have any of the venham family members to assist in anything they need...
